The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of a principal strengthening training program. Data were collected using a survey, and the sample consisted of 380 school principals in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, who were training participants in 2019. The trends in the performance of the school principals were examined through descriptive statistics. The study found that the average principal’s performance was moderate, which meant that the strengthening training had a positive impact on their performance, but this effect was not significant. This may be because individuals participated in the training to fulfill duty obligations, not because of an intrinsic motivation to increase their competence. In addition, it is suspected that the initial appointment as school principal was not an independent choice, but at the insistence of another party. Therefore, the credibility of the process of recruiting school principals needs to be improved so that personnel who have real motivation and enthusiasm to increase school quality are chosen. Keywords: principal strengthening training, principal performance

The program was run in four classroom groups (n = 210) at the University of Murcia (Spain) and the aim was to analyze the effect that the gamification-based and flipped-classroom program has on motivation and learning. Information was collected through a perceptions questionnaire. Descriptive statistics are shown; mean tests (t of Student and ANOVA of a factor) and Pearson correlations between subscales. The data show a very positive impact on motivation, the learning achieved, and the strategies applied in the program. SummaryYear 2008 was a dramatic turning point in Israel concerning the professional development of school principals. This shift is reflected in the conception of the principal as an „instructional leader”22, thus Israel has formally adopted the integrative approach to principal development that emphasizes principal’s work in the post-modern era alongside the development of individual „managerial identity”; and the reflective abilities to strengthen implicit knowledge23. The professional development of novice principals provides a significant touchstone in the examination of the new training program that has been underway for the tenth year. This program assisting novice principal through two central mechanisms: peer support and personal guidance provided by veteran and retired principals. Key data from the evaluation of the training program for the novice principals in the Northern District will be presented. The main challenges of the current training program will be discussed, with questions to consider changes to increase the impact of personal guidance on the managerial capabilities of novice school principals24.

Student Support Services (SSS) is one of the largest federal TRIO programs designed to help disadvantaged students stay in and complete college. Through a longitudinal study of participants and comparable non participants, we examined the impact of SSS on retention. Data were collected through student questionnaires, institutional and program data, and students’ postsecondary transcripts. We found that SSS had a positive impact for all three measures of retention that were used, but the impact varied depending on which services students used and how much they participated. The results confirm that retention programs should address both academic and social integration on campus.
