Abstract Background Parainfluenza virus (PIV) is a leading cause of acute respiratory illness (ARI) in children. However, few studies have characterized the clinical features and outcomes associated with PIV infections among young children in the Middle East. Methods We conducted hospital-based surveillance for ARI among children < 2 years of age in a large referral hospital in Amman, Jordan. We systematically collected clinical data and respiratory specimens for pathogen detection using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. We compared clinical features of PIV-associated ARI among individual serotypes 1, 2, 3, and 4 and among PIV infections compared with other viral ARI and ARI with no virus detected. We also compared the odds of supplemental oxygen use using logistic regression. Results PIV was detected in 221/3168 (7.0%) children hospitalized with ARI. PIV-3 was the most commonly detected serotype (125/221; 57%). Individual clinical features of PIV infections varied little by individual serotype, although admission diagnosis of ‘croup’ was only associated with PIV-1 and PIV-2. Children with PIV-associated ARI had lower frequency of cough (71% vs 83%; p < 0.001) and wheezing (53% vs 60% p < 0.001) than children with ARI associated with other viruses. We did not find a significant difference in supplemental oxygen use between children with PIV-associated infections (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.12, 95% CI 0.66–1.89, p = 0.68) and infections in which no virus was detected. Conclusions PIV is frequently associated with ARI requiring hospitalization in young Jordanian children. Substantial overlap in clinical features may preclude distinguishing PIV infections from other viral infections at presentation.

The city has traces of human civilization from time to time with various phenomena that occur. As time goes by, the existence of Third Place in Jakarta remains limited. The activities among those Third Places tend to be less interactive. Most of Third Places aim to address the concept of green and open space, but it fails to communicate its crucial purposes as platfrom activities for the community. In this modern era, the concept is change necessary where it accomodates public needs and no longer be depicted a mere open space. Krendang needs a facility to accommodate motherhood and children activities as the third place. As the people become more individualistic and don't want to socialize, it is more difficult to find leisure and creativity facilities. Motherhood Community and Social Market in Krendang was designed to facilitate the activities of mother and children in the middle of densely population in Krendang, Tambora, West Jakarta.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS: An evidence-based approach for childhood obesity is family-based treatment (FBT). Research supports that motivation and income level may impact treatment success; however, the relationship between the two is understudied. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine whether motivation for beginning FBT is associated with income levels. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: 459 parent and child dyads from the PLAN (Pediatric, Learning, Activity, Nutrition) with Families multisite study were included in this study. PLAN consists of FBT through personalized health coaching over the course of two years, focusing on nutrition, physical activity, and parenting skills. Parent and child also attend height and weight assessments every 6 months in the study. Outcomes of the study include weight change and mastery of behavioral skills. Motivation and income level were provided by self-report at the beginning of the study. Motivation was based on a scale from 1-10 (1 = no motivation, 10 = high motivation). Income levels were grouped into one of three broader categories- low income ($80,000/year). RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: The mean level of motivation for the parent was 8.76 and for the child was 7.87. There was a significant difference in the mean level of motivation for the child and parent, t = 7.73, p = < .001. Post-hoc multiple comparisons using Tukey’s HSD test indicated that children in the high-income group had lower levels of motivation (M = 7.29, SD = 2.07) compared to children in the middle (M = 8.18) and low (M = 8.70) income groups. Level of motivation did not differ for children in the middle and low-income groups. Finally, parent motivation level did not differ significantly by income group. While there were significant differences between parent and child motivation levels, the motivation remained high for both groups. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The data suggests a significant difference in mean child motivation and income level. Child’s high motivation may be from the idea of participating in something new, a rare opportunity for low-income children. To improve the implementation and efficacy of FBT, further study into the relationship between motivation and income level should be done.

There are presented data from a comprehensive examination and treatment of 30 children with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). For the treatment of young children with focal-confluent forms of CAP and the clinical manifestations of infectious-septic shock, Pentaglobin preparations containing IgM were used. Severe CAP with a tendency to destruction was more often observed in cases with the dominance of gram-negative flora in the etiological structure, most often detected in the foothill zone (18.2% of children), in the middle mountain zone - in- 13.3%, in the low-grade zone - in 5% of children. Pseudomonas aeruginosae was more commonly seeded in children in the foothill zone (12.5%), while in children living in the lowland and middle mountain zone in 2.5% and 6.6% correspondingly. The authors showed the preparation of intravenous immunoglobulin Pentoglobin is a safe, effective, easily tolerated means of etiotropic and pathogenetic therapy of severe CAP, caused more often by gram-negative and gram-positive bacterial microbiota.
