AbstractPlace matters, and for schools located in the neighborhoods of towns and cities, place not only holds meaning for individuals, but shapes their experiences of school and education trajectories. This is not simply a question of meaning and identity. Rather, it is that education settings and their opportunity structures shape and are shaped by structural inequalities, in turn reproducing differences. In this paper, I make the case that the state plays an important role in producing inequality by the ways in which it governs, and that contemporary forms of governing on the global level exacerbate these differences whilst erasing the differences that matter. I explore these dynamics by focusing on socio-economic differences between schools in England, UK. I argue that a particular politics of state spatial power is at play, and that the national state and shadow sovereigns manage questions of authority and legitimacy through the use of ideologies (e.g., school effectiveness, social mobility), devices (such as rankings and league tables), and explanations of cause (such as aspiration gaps), with which one can re-express the problem of difference, not as structurally caused, but as a failure of individual effort, expectations, and aspirations.

The meritocratic ideal prescribes that universities should admit students based on academic ability and individual effort. Yet as competition for scarce slots has increased, markets for services to improve the odds of admission have expanded. We use the case of a popular online forum for elite Taiwanese students seeking graduate study in the United States to argue that the moral values assigned to such markets provide useful information about the status of the meritocratic ideal. Using digital ethnography and interviews with forum participants, we find that individuals moralize markets for admissions services in ways that align with their social position. They valorize participation in markets that compensate for their “unfair” disadvantage around English while rejecting the legitimacy of adjacent markets that compensate for lack of cultural capital (which they possess). More generally, we argue that although individuals who benefit from meritocracy will tend to stigmatize associated markets, the positive moralization of such markets can reflect local contests over how meritocracy should be defined—yet not necessarily undermine the meritocratic ideal.

The ethically process in research is time consuming because we also find a difficulty when judging different problems seeing that many regulations have ambiguous meaning. For ethics commission members it appears to be a burden when it comes to analyze the research ethics issues. The main reason is represented by the increased subjectivism and also the differences between an institutions to another or even between different countries. This study aim is concentrated around the ethics problems that appear in the research field. Each researcher must be informed about the research ethics and make an individual effort to find the appropriate information that fits to his personal interest regarding all possible ethics issues that can appear in his interest domain. A specialist with integrity and common sense it is supposed to act with active and politically correct conscience during his research activity especially in experimentation systems and afterwards when results dissemination is prepared for publishing. The intellectual property is the most important set of exclusive rights granted to original creations or extraordinary research results. The ethics commissions around the world would appreciate, protect and encourage all the politically correct behavior in this vast domain.

In 2019 in Rzeszów the XVIII World Festival of the Polish community folk groups was held. The festivals have been organized since 1969, being the Song and Dance Group of Olza one of their most frequent participants. Rzeszów hosted other groups from the Czech Republic which were equally successful. The groups are widely-recognized in their own country receiving many prizes and awards in there. The paper indicates the different dimensions of Polish-Czech integration, namely personal, linguistic, educational, cultural and behavioral. The activities undertaken by the concert organizers as well as the individual effort of the participants and the audience alike made that creating the community, integration and building contacts between different nationalities, regions and cultures was possible. The main source constituted the materials collected at the Centre of Research on the Poles and the Polish community in the world of the University of Rzeszów as well as the press articles published locally and nationally.

This problem is motivated by the phenomenon of social loafing among students of the Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. Social loafing is a lack of individual effort when working simultaneosly compared to when perfoming individual tasks. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of social loafing and the factors that cause students of the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo to do descriptive quantitative social loafing. The population in this study were 9469 students of the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo who were involved in the social loafing response at the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The sample used was 355 students based on an error rate of 5% in the table developed by Isacc and Michael. The data collection technique in this study uses a psychological scale, which is a social loafing scale in the form of a used scale. Based on the results of the validity test 15 valid items from the 44 compiled items. The reliability test showed a value of (r = 0.919). Based on the results of the analysis showed that the high category of social loafing (15.5%), medium (68.4%) and low (16.1). Most of the factors that influence social learning are no evaluation or assessment of group performance. The social loafing factor is obtained when there is no individual contribution between groups and the unclear division of responsibilities.

BACKGROUND: The experimental research PILOT on board the space stations aimed to assess cosmonauts expectable reliability in a mission relevant operation, the manual docking of Soyuz or Progress spacecrafts on the space stations Mir and International Space Station (ISS), respectively.METHOD: Therefore, a simulation of the docking of two space apparatuses was used for training and research. The methodological approach is described, taking into consideration the level of performance and the individual effort spent, the psychophysiological costs. In three decades altogether 32 cosmonauts took part.RESULTS: A significant increase of reliability was found from Mir (0.45 scores) to ISS missions (0.51). On ISS the reliability remained stable (0.50 0.1).DISCUSSION: Salnitskis model for the evaluation of operators reliability was further developed and tested, which turned out to be sensitive as well as robust enough for a practical application in this critical operational task.Johannes B, Bronnikov SV, Bubeev JA, Kotrovskaya TI, Shastlivtseva DV, Piechowski S, Hoermann H-J, Jordan J. Personal branding is an individual effort to obtain the response and perception of public audiences through social media, including Instagram. This study aimed to describe adolescents’ experiences in personal branding through Instagram and the meaning of personal branding. It is qualitative research with a descriptive phenomenological approach. Data were analyzed using thematic phenomenological analysis techniques to understand the themes and patterns of personal branding. Data were collected using interviews and observation methods. Five participants were obtained through purposive sampling technique with criteria: adolescents aged 18-21 years and active Instagram users (with a consistent content theme). Results show that the personal branding process is built through stages that involve determining goals, conceptualizing content, and posting content. It is essential to concept and edit content uniquely and posts consistently at the right time and the right frequency, including the highlight menu setting. Personal branding has significant and strategic meanings for adolescents: as a medium to promote competencies, expand career opportunities, and be a useful person. Essentially, it is recommended for adolescents to do personal branding as an alternative activity that supports self-development and careers using Instagram.
