This problem is motivated by the phenomenon of social loafing among students of the Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. Social loafing is a lack of individual effort when working simultaneosly compared to when perfoming individual tasks. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of social loafing and the factors that cause students of the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo to do descriptive quantitative social loafing. The population in this study were 9469 students of the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo who were involved in the social loafing response at the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. The sample used was 355 students based on an error rate of 5% in the table developed by Isacc and Michael. The data collection technique in this study uses a psychological scale, which is a social loafing scale in the form of a used scale. Based on the results of the validity test 15 valid items from the 44 compiled items. The reliability test showed a value of (r = 0.919). Based on the results of the analysis showed that the high category of social loafing (15.5%), medium (68.4%) and low (16.1). Most of the factors that influence social learning are no evaluation or assessment of group performance. The social loafing factor is obtained when there is no individual contribution between groups and the unclear division of responsibilities.

Kata Kunci: Social Loafing, Locus of control, Tugas KelompokAbstract: This study uses a quantitative approach, intended to determine the effect of locus of control, both internally and externally on social loafing in completing group assignments. Social loafing is a phenomenon of decreasing individual performance (effort) in group-based assignments, thing which of course will have an impact on group performance and satisfaction. Sampling in this study used accidental sampling on population college students of education majors (prospective teachers), with the total number of participants as many as 147 college students (45 scale tests, 102 hypothesis tests). The measurement of each variable modifies the scale construct from previous research, which refers to Levenson for locus of control and Latane for social loafing. Data collection uses a psychological scale in the form of a questionnaire, analyzed using linear regression tests to determine how much influence locus of control both internally and externally on social loafing. Internal locus of control in this study proved to be able to reduce social loafing (sig. 0,000), with R Square Value (influence contribution) in the coefficient of determination table worth 0.211 or 21.1%, while external Locus of control did not contribute influence at all. Keywords: Social Loafing, Locus of control, Group Tasks

The study aimed to exploring the level of tolerance of students towards certain social and religious factors such as gender, ethnicity, caste, religion and religious sects, Also this study focused on how the Tolerance statue can be reformed from being just a value to be a way of life or a way of thinking which transfer it from being  emotions manner to be intellectual and rational manner. Due to this assumption, this study supposes that one of the most direct ways to improve such tolerance and co-existence is through education for tolerance by having such knowledge (cognitive competence) that will help especially youth to develop the conscious mind, be more tolerant and avoid prejudices and stereotypes. This paper identifies two keys educational challenges to learn and teach tolerance: (1) discuss the social and cultural determination of tolerance (socio-culture environment and background) (2) identifies the reason of tolerance change recently at the Egyptian society. For achieving that, this study will depend on focus group and Scale as analysis tools for discussion both determinations and obstacles of socio-culture tolerance. Also, it is important to reveal students’ perception about tolerance after participated in some academic program at the university. Also this study will depend on content analysis to university curricula and activities. It is concluded that there are still a gab inside higher education towards the relationship between youth cognitive competence and inter-ethnic tolerance.

Previous research has demonstrated that the difference between a group's potential and its actual productivity is, in part, a function of individuals exerting less effort when working as a team. This phenomenon has been labeled social loafing. Harkins and Petty (1982) have suggested that the way in which teammates think their outputs are combined to make up the team score and teammate competence may influence the social loafing effect. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of additive, disjunctive, and conjunctive task structures on individual effort expended by rowers and nonrowers. In Experiment 1, 30 male nonrowers were assigned to dyads and performed two (alone, team) 45-sec trials on Concept II rowing ergometers. Ten subjects performed under additive, 10 under disjunctive, and 10 under conjunctive task conditions. Results demonstrated no significant effects. In Experiment 2, 30 subjects were assigned to 15 dyads with the restriction that 1 member of each dyad be a collegiate rower and 1 be a nonrower. The results revealed (a) that rowers expended more effort than nonrowers and (b) a social loafing effect for the least proficient teammate.

Semakin tinggi self-efficacy seseorang maka semakin rendah social loafing tendency.   A task-based or group work learning approach is not a new thing for the college students. But the task given in groups allows social loafing, where the individual reduces his effort when he works in groups, compared to when he works individually. This means that giving assignments in groups can make individuals who should be personally responsible if they are not controlled can allow social idling which actually reduces the effectiveness of learning itself. For this reason, the study was conducted aimed at finding out whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy (a person's belief in an individual's ability to do a task) and social loafing tendency. The study was conducted on 300 agricultural students from two universities in Medan, with 150 students from the University of Sumatera Utara and 150 students from the Methodist University of Indonesia. The learning process through group-based learning methods was quite dominant, especially in the Faculty of Agriculture in both universities. The measurements done by using a Social Loafing Tendency based on Latane theory and Self Efficacy which based on Bandura. The results showed that there was a negative relationship between the two variables. The higher a person's self-efficacy, the lower the social loafing tendency.
