ABSTRACT: This paper studies the generic characterization of Fineza contra fineza, a Calderón´s courtly festival performed for the first time in 1671. Although the classification as a mythological comedy is evident from the appearance of the god Cupid, the mythical time of action and the location in classical Greece, in the plot there are many palatine elements (noble characters, a courtly and refined love, a demanding ethic of honour, the conflict between loyalty, friendship and love, and some techniques of entanglement: identity confusion, simulations, dissimulations, secrets) and also typical features of cloak and sword plays (a “fantasma” scene, the comic role of noble characters and humorous metatheatre). This shows the extraordinary command of the conventions of all dramatic genres by Calderón, since he was wisely able to combine them in this comedy.

AbstractThe aim of the study was to identify some potential etiological segments of maladaptive daydreaming, especially the relationships between maladaptive daydreaming, childhood traumatization, and dissociative propensity. The questionnaire package included the Hungarian version of the Maladaptive Daydreaming Scale, the Traumatic Antecedents Questionnaire, as well as the Dissociation Questionnaire. 717 participants were recruited online, 106 of whom were problematic daydreamers. The results revealed that certain types of childhood trauma occurred significantly more frequently in the group of maladaptive daydreamers. Furthermore, maladaptive daydreamers possessed a significantly higher level of dissociative propensity compared to normal daydreamers. The estimated SEM models showed that dissociative experiences - more precisely Identity confusion and fragmentation and Lack of control – mediated the relationship between certain childhood traumatic experiences and maladaptive daydreaming. The results suggest that we should consider childhood traumatization and increased dissociative propensity as potentially significant factors in the etiology of maladaptive daydreaming.

"We aim to identify the thematic elements that shape the imagination of identity confusion. Indeed, besides inventing a new rhetoric to express the identity crisis, Taos Amrouche has discussed the same major themes of migrant literature, giving them a self-related dimension. We will investigate how the geographical exile of the Iakouren is coupled with the identity exile in which they are locked up due to the confrontation with various groups which instill in them the feeling of irreducible difference. This difference is particularly obvious in the mind of the narrator Marie-Corail, who, under the influence of two opposing cultures – the tribal Arab culture that strongly bonds with the ancestors, on the one hand, and the Western culture, on the other – will find herself at an impasse."

Introduction: Adolescence is the most critical life period for the development of eating disorder (ED) symptomatology. Although problems in identity functioning and emotion dysregulation have been proven important risk and maintaining factors of ED symptomatology, they have never been integrated in a longitudinal study. Methods: The present study is part of the Longitudinal Identity research in Adolescence (LIA)-study and aimed to uncover the temporal interplay between identity functioning, cognitive emotion regulation, and ED symptomatology in adolescence. A total of 2,162 community adolescents (Time 1: 54% female; Mage = 14.58, SD = 1.88, range = 10–21 years) participated at three measurement points with 1-year intervals. They reported on identity functioning (identity synthesis and identity confusion), cognitive emotion regulation (rumination, catastrophizing, and positive reappraisal), and ED symptomatology (drive for thinness and bulimia symptoms). Results: Cross-lagged paths could be fixed for boys and girls and showed bidirectional associations between both dimensions of identity functioning and both rumination and catastrophizing over time. Similarly, these maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies were bidirectionally related to ED symptomatology over time. Finally, indirect pathways pointed to bidirectional associations between both dimensions of identity functioning and bulimia symptoms through rumination and catastrophizing. Only unidirectional associations emerged for drive for thinness and almost no cross-lagged associations were found with positive reappraisal. Conclusion: The present study demonstrates that identity confusion may contribute to the development of ED symptomatology in adolescence through cognitive emotion dysregulation. It also reveals that these ED symptoms hamper identity development through emotion dysregulation. These results stress the importance of targeting both identity functioning and cognitive emotion regulation in the prevention and intervention of ED symptoms.

Cyberbullying behavior utilized the use of digital technology and the internet as a medium for bullying. The purpose of this study was to examine the function of online disinhibition as a mediator of the relationship between identity confusion and cyberbullying in adolescents. Participants in the study were 12 to 15 years old or adolescents, which consisted of 151 men and 196 women. Data collection was performed using 3 scales namely the Cyberbullying Behavior Scale, the identity confusion scale, and the online disinhibition scale. The data obtained were tested using regression analysis with mediator variable with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0. The results showed that there was an effect of online disinhibition mediation on the relationship of identity confusion with cyberbullying. The result of MacKinnon analysis shows that the direct effect gives a bigger effect than the indirect effect. The results of the additional analysis show that males do more cyberbullying behavior; the higher the duration of internet and social media use, the more cyberbullying behavior that will be carried out by adolescents. These results indicated that adolescents and cyberbullying have many factors that required further research. Keywords: Cyberbullying, online disinhibition, identity confusion, adolescents Abstrak: Perilaku cyberbullying memanfaatkan penggunaan teknologi digital dan internet sebagai media untuk melakukan aksi bullying.

Artikelbeginn:[English title and abstract below] »Nun denkt der Traum hauptsächlich in Bildern« (Freud 2008, S. 51), stellt schon Sigmund Freud 1900 in seiner Traumdeutung fest. Naturalistic Dreaming and Unreal WakingAspects of Dreaminess in Blexbolex’s Textless Picturebook The Holidays This article examines narrative forms of dreaminess in Blexbolex’s textless picturebook The Holidays (2018; original title, Nos vacances, 2017; German edition, Unsere Ferien, 2018), which tells the story of a girl who, on a visit to her grandfather, encounters an anthropomorphised elephant – an encounter which is not harmonious. In two dream sequences, the desires and fears of the protagonist are revealed and put into perspective. In this article, these two sequences are examined within the contexts of the cultural history of dreams, and their narrative functions as analeptic reflections of daily events, on the one hand, and as proleptic epiphanies, on the other. Dream elements of the fictional waking world in the frame are also considered using Stefanie Kreuzer’s typology of narrative-structural characteristics and Christiane Solte-Gresser’s examination of the conventions pertaining to how dreams are presented in picturebooks. This article asks to what extent the alleged waking world itself can be categorised as a dream world. To answer this question, it focusses on the characters’ masking and identity confusion, the motif of the dream journey as well as the presentation of the elephant, whose naturalistic appearance in the dream sequences is in marked contrast to the unrealism with which the waking world is portrayed. The conclusion reflects on the particular suitability of textless picturebooks for presenting dreams.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> While identity problems and materialistic value endorsement have been described as predisposing factors for buying-shopping disorder (BSD) in the literature, little empirical data are available on the role of socially undesirable personality features that may contribute to financial misconduct and manipulative interpersonal behaviors in BSD. The dark triad of personality refers to such offensive yet non-pathological personality traits and has been applied to addictive behaviors in the past. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the “dark triad” dimensions Machiavellianism, subclinical narcissism, and subclinical psychopathy predict symptoms of BSD above and beyond identity confusion and materialism, or moderate the relationship between materialism and symptoms of BSD. <b><i>Method:</i></b> The participants comprised a convenience sample (<i>N</i> = 272, 72.4% women) aged between 18 and 67 years. Assessment included standard questionnaires for BSD, identity problems, materialism, and the dark triad of personality. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Zero-order correlations indicate a weak association between BSD and the dark triad dimensions Machiavellianism and narcissism, but not psychopathy. Results of a moderated regression analysis with BSD symptoms as a dependent variable revealed significant main effects for materialism, female gender, and a significant “narcissism by materialism” effect, after accounting for identity confusion/synthesis and the single dark triad traits. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> The findings suggest that individuals with BSD attempt to address their narcissistic deficits via materialistic possessions. This assumption warrants further investigation in a clinical sample.

Developmental scientists describe the role confusion that can occur for adolescents as they are forming a personal identity. Clinical psychologists describe low self-worth, lack of self-clarity, feelings of emptiness, and dissociation as the key elements of identity disturbance, and they link these to borderline personality disorder. In this study, the authors aimed to work at the juncture of these approaches by considering interrelations between four elements of identity disturbance, typical identity formation processes reflective of identity commitment and confusion, and borderline features. Australian youth (N = 505, 63% female and aged 12–20 years) recruited from clinical and community settings reported on identity commitment, exploration and reconsideration, four elements of identity disturbance, and borderline features. Identity confusion (especially reconsideration) and disturbance were associated with elevated borderline symptoms. Emptiness stood out as the strongest correlate of borderline symptoms. Youth reporting greater emptiness were nearly twice as likely to report a high borderline symptom profile.
