The aim: To study the odontoglific and odometometric parameters of molar crowns of the upper and lower jaws in males and females. Materials and methods: To achieve the aim of the research was used odontoglyphic, odometometric and statistical methods of research. Results: We have found that male molars of the upper jaw are characterized by approximately the same ratio between the vestibular-palatal and mesial-distal diameters of the crown, so the teeth are square-formed. For female large angular teeth of the upper jaw the predominance of vestibular-palatal over mesial-distal diameters of the crown is characteristic, which results in an oval form of the teeth. On having analyzed the forms of the third lower molars, it can be affirmed that for this group of teeth various variational forms of crowns, from three- to five-tuber forms, are characteristic. Vestibular-lingual and mesio-distal sizes also vary according to the type of odontoglific pattern of occlusal crown surface. Conclusions: We consider it expedient to take into account the abovementioned characteristics of the masticatory surface of molars of the upper and lower jaws of male and female persons for the creation of qualitative orthopedic structures that would fully restore the masticatory function.

A 36-year-old man with a 3-year history of recurrent salivary colic was referred to a maxillofacial surgery department. Gray scale ultrasound (US) showed enlarged right submandibular gland, significantly dilated intraglandular duct with two sialoliths (with an artifact of acoustic shadowing) inside, one – floating (Video-Panel A and B, arrow) and another – nonmovable (arrowhead). Left nonsymptomatic normal in size gland (asterisk) is showed at Panel C. The affected gland was excised under general anesthesia due to the diagnosis of chronic submandibular obstructive sialolithiasis. Intraglandular duct contained two yellowish stones, first was an oval form with a pellet surface (Panel D, arrow), second – a round shaped with a smooth surface (Panel D, asterisk) and it was presented at US as a floating sialolith; both are easily crumbled on palpation. As the specimen and intraglandular duct were dissected longitudinally, that`s why dissected intraglandular duct (Panel D, arrowheads) is visible in both parts of the gland. Also, a 1 small calculus (Panel D, curved arrow) was found in the parenchymal ducts. Postoperative period was smooth, and 1-year follow-up after surgery, the patient has no complaints.

SUMMARYObjective: To determine the relationship ifany between the facial contour, the form ofthe dental arches and the morphology of theupper central incisors in dental students ofthe University del Valle. Methods: This is an observational descriptivestudy that determined the relationbetween the facial contour, the dentalarches and the upper central incisorsshapes through digital photographs in 48dental students (24 women and 24 men) atUniversity del Valle belonging to a mixedethnic group predominantly Caucasoid. Thecoefficient of contingency was used to establishthe possible association between theforms of the face, the dental arches and thecentral incisors. A p<0.05 was consideredstatistically significant. Results: The oval form was the mostfrequent facial contour (50%), includingthe upper (77,1%) and lower dental arch(85,4%) and the upper right central incisor(41,7%) were also prevalent. By gender, the facial contour presented significantdifferences, given that in women was moreprevalent the round shape (29,2%) while inmen it was the square form (37,5%); neverthelessthe oval form was present in themajority of cases in both male and female. Conclusions: The oval form was the mostfrequent facial contour, dental arches andthe upper central incisors form. It wasnot possible to determine the form of thepermanent upper central incisors usingthe facial contour type or the form of thedental arches. Keywords: Forensic dentistry, dental identification, facial contour, dental arch, uppercentral incisors shape.

The aim of this research was to determine the anatomy and histology of pancreas of water monitor lizard (Varanus salvator). Two pancreas were used in this research (a male and a female). Water monitor lizard was euthanized using chloroform and subsequently necropsied to collect the pancreas. The pancreas was washed in 0.9 % NaCl solution. Anatomical observations were carried out including location, shape, and color of pancreas, also the length and weight measurements. Then, pancreas was fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde for 7 days to proceed to histological preparation and hematoxylin eosin (HE) staining. The results of the anatomical observations showed that pancreas of water monitor lizard have two lobes, dorsal lobe (splenic lobe) and ventral lobe (duodenal lobe). Dorsal lobe which was in oval form adhered with the spleen, and ventral lobe was located in the cranial of intestines with the form of long spherical. Both of pancreas lobes were white-yellow color with the length of 1.45±0.64 cm (dorsal lobe) and 7.00±0.42 cm (ventral lobe). Weight of dorsal lobe was 0.15±0.01 g and ventral lobe was 6.35±2.30 g. The histological observations found the acinar cells, ducts, and blood vessels in both of pancreas lobes. Additionally, the similar structure of Langerhans islet only found at the ventral lobe of pancreas. In conclusion, pancreas of water monitor lizard consists of two lobes which located differently. Ventral lobe is larger than the dorsal lobe. Both lobes have similar histological structure except the Langerhans islets are only appeared in the ventral lobe.

In article the comparative assessment of quality of machining of roundish and oval root channels of singleroot teeth by systems nickel – the titanium files K3, Pro-Taper, RaCe is given. Criteria of quality of preparation of the root channel are defined. Good results are received when processing clumsy channels of teeth with a length less than 25 mm and a roundish form of the root channel. During research it is established that the root channels having an oval form can’t be qualitatively processed only by systems of the rotating files.

Piston skirt form deviating from a perfect cylinder is investigated numerically for an improved frictional performance. Three features defining the barrel and oval form of the skirt are compared in the search for lower friction power loss. Radius of curvature around the bulge of the barrel is changed to obtain a flatter or more-rounded lubricated area with respect to a hot-piston profile as well as the axial location of this bulge. On the other hand, the circumferential variation in the separation between the skirt and cylinder wall is represented by an elliptical piston and the aspect ratio is varied for comparison. These different skirt profiles are used in a developed piston secondary dynamics model solving for the lateral movement of the piston by calculating the hydrodynamic and boundary normal forces acting on the piston together with friction. Finally, an improved skirt profile is suggested to obtain better frictional efficiency.

Form-finding of fabric surface bordered by Oval has been investigated. In this study, the possibility of adopting the form of Oval as surface shape for tensioned fabric structure has been studied. The combination of shape and internal forces for the purpose of stiffness and strength is an important feature of fabric surface. For this purpose, form-finding needs to be carried out. Nonlinear analysis method has been used for form-finding analysis of the fabric in the form of Oval.

The different stages of embryonic development of the porcellanid crab Pachycheles chubutensis are described, along with the chronology of each stage at 16±1°C. Five different developmental stages (I–V) were recognized including: (i) early cells and 100% of the vitellum; (ii) formation of the embryonic primordium at the animal pole of the egg; (iii) presence of dark pigmentation on the posterior part of the ocular globe; (iv) appearance of chromatophores on mouth parts and in the abdominal zone; and (v) eye pigmentation in circular–oval form, filling the entire surface. The embryonic development lasts from spawning to hatching approximately 21 days, with the second stage being the longest.

Potted Cordyline terminalis L. `Prins Albert', a foliage plant, was treated with foliar sprays or growth medium drenches of paclobutrazol for plant growth control. Paclobutrazol effectively reduced shoot length measured 4 months following application, the drench being more effective than the spray. Application of paclobutrazol at 200 ppm by either method gave a desirable compact and marketable product. Drench applications at 1000 ppm promoted side-shoot formation. Leaf morphology was altered from an elongated to a more oval form as the paclobutrazol concentration increased, but leaf count was not affected by paclobutrazol, except for the highest drench concentration, which reduced leaf count by 10%. Chemical name used: β– [(4-chlorophenyl)methyl] –α– (1,1-dimethylethyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-ethanol (paclobutrazol).
