In this article, the author addresses why some straight-identified men are primarily attracted to women, but have sex with men. This typically happens because they think that extramarital sex with men is less threatening to their marriages than extramarital sex with women. Additionally, many live what they consider a “straight life” and believe that sex with men is irrelevant to their identities.

There is a lack of quantitative studies on the acceptance of extramarital sex in China. Based on data from the Chinese General Social Survey 2013 (CGSS2013), this paper used a zero-inflated Poisson regression model to analyze the factors influencing the public’s attitudes toward extramarital sex. When other variables were controlled, groups of younger ages, higher educational levels, and stronger tendencies toward “liberalization” and non-Islamic beliefs were more tolerant toward extramarital sex, whereas gender and Christian beliefs had no significant influence. In this regard, family and marriage counseling, and society’s moral tolerance and social control of religion are discussed, and further research on cross-cultural verification is needed.

Marital infidelity is a serious problem because it can lead to separation and even divorce. Yet, little is known about racial and gender differences in levels of extramarital sex in the United States in the last three decades (1991 to 2018). This study represents the first analysis of the racial and gender differences in levels and determinants of extramarital sex in the United States. We use data from all the 15 waves of the General Social Survey in which respondents were asked if they have ever had sex with someone other than their husband or wife when they were married. Descriptive and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses were conducted to determine the levels and determinants of racial and gender differences in extramarital sex in the last three decades. There are small changes in percent of extramarital sex between 1991 (14.63 percent) and 2018 (16.48 percent). However, despite some fluctuations observed across the 15 General Social Survey waves, the prevalence of extramarital sex has remained significantly higher for blacks compared to whites, and higher also for men than women. The results show the importance of race and gender in explaining extramarital sexual behavior in the United States. We discuss these findings in relation to previous studies and suggest directions for future research.

Abstract Background This study aimed at determining the prevalence and risk factors of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) among incarcerated people who inject drugs (PWID) in Iran during 2015-16. Methods The required data was obtained from the Iranian national bio-behavioral surveillance surveys (BBSSs), which examined 11988 prisoners who were selected using multi-stage sampling from 55 prisons in 19 provinces during 2015-16. The demographic and behavioral status of these subjects were measured through interviews and HBV and HCV exposure were examined using ELISA test of blood samples. A total of 1387 individuals with a history of drug injection in their lifetime were enrolled into this study. Survey analysis was used to analyze the data. The univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to investigate the relationships between risk factors and outcome. Results The mean age of the incarcerated PWID was 36.83 ± 8.13; of all, 98.46% were male, 50.97% were married, and 96.57% had non-academic education. The prevalence of HCV and HBV was 40.52% and 2.46%, respectively. HCV prevalence was associated with an age≥30 years, being single, non-academic education, prison term>5 years, history of piercing, and extramarital sex in lifetime (P<0.05). Conclusions The prevalence of HCV is alarmingly high. However, prison by facilitating the easy access to infected group can be considered as an opportunity to achieve the goal of eliminating HCV in the country. It is recommended to design interventions while considering the risk factors of prison term, piercing, and extramarital sex.

This paper critically explores key aspects of the gulf between Christian bioethics and the secular moral reflections that dominate contemporary bioethics. For example, in contrast to traditional Christian morality, the established secular bioethics judges extramarital sex acts among consenting persons, whether of the same or different sexes, as at least morally permissible, affirms sexual freedom for children to develop their own sexual identity, and holds the easy availability of abortion and infanticide as central to the liberty interests of women. Secular bioethics seeks to separate children from the authority of their parents, placing children themselves as in authority to make their own judgments about appropriate lifestyle choices, including sexual behaviors. As I argue, however, when God is absent, there exists no standpoint outside of our own cultural socio historically conditioned understanding from which to communicate any deeper perspective of reality or the bioethics that such a perspective would secure. Consequently, rather than discerning moral truth, secular bioethics merely affirms its own particular cultural socio historically conditioned ideological perspective. It is a social and political worldview bereft of definitive moral foundation, independent moral authority, or unambiguous content.

In Daredevil (2015–18) fan works, fans confront the character of Daredevil, who is portrayed in the Netflix TV series of the same name as explicitly religious, namely Catholic. This means that fan works seeking to explore sexuality, especially same-sex sexuality, must confront Catholicism's prohibition on extramarital sex, including same-sex sexual relations. I examine how fan works use Daredevil as a site from which to examine and debate Catholicism and queerness.

In this, it is shown how sexuality is defined by society and culture. An attempt has been made to see if there is any religious philosophy which marriage in medieval Rajasthan sought to convey. The existence of any moral or textual injunction that the State or religion upheld for married men and women has been explored. What was the relationship between law and social practice, the ideal and the aberrant? How were the marital disputes settled at the time, the legal and other devices available, the extent to which it was resorted to have all been looked into. The notions of sexuality, marital and extramarital sex, and notions of shame and honour have been examined. Besides the case of fidelity between husband and wife, cases of domestic violence, rape and incest and the reaction of the State in each case and the form of punishment meted out is laid out in this chapter.
