The enzyme flavonoid 3′,5′-hydroxylase (F3′5′H) plays an important role in producing anthocyanin pigments in soybean. Loss of function of the W1 locus encoding F3′5′H always produces white flowers. However, few color variations have been reported in wild soybean. In the present study, we isolated a new color variant of wild soybean accession (IT261811) with pinkish-white flowers. We found that the flower’s pinkish-white color is caused by w1-s3, a single recessive allele of W1. The SNP detected in the mutant caused amino acid substitution (A304S) in a highly conserved SRS4 domain of F3′5′H proteins. On the basis of the results of the protein variation effect analyzer (PROVEAN) tool, we suggest that this mutation may lead to hypofunctional F3′5′H activity rather than non-functional activity, which thereby results in its pinkish-white color.

Abstract A loss-of-function mutation in the melanocortin 1 receptor gene (MC1R), which switches off the eumelanin production, causes yellowish coat color variants in mammals. In a wild population of sables (Martes zibellina) in Hokkaido, Japan, the mutation responsible for a bright yellow coat color variant was inferred to be a cysteine replacement at codon 35 of the N-terminal extracellular domain of the Mc1r receptor. In the present study, we validated these findings by applying genome editing on Mc1r in mouse strains C3H/HeJ and C57BL/6N, altering the codon for cysteine (Cys33Phe). The resulting single amino acid substitution (Cys33Phe) and unintentionally generated frameshift mutations yielded a color variant exhibiting substantially brighter body color, indicating that the Cys35 replacement produced sufficient MC1R loss of function to confirm that this mutation is responsible for producing the Hokkaido sable yellow color variant. Notably, the yellowish mutant mouse phenotype exhibited brown coloration in subapical hair on the dorsal side in both the C3H/HeJ and C57BL/6N strains, despite the inability of the latter to produce the agouti signaling protein (Asip). This darker hair and body coloration was not apparent in the Hokkaido sable variant, implying the presence of an additional genetic system shaping yellowish hair variability.

We cloned and characterized two new coral fluorescent proteins: h2-3 and 1-41. h2-3 formed an obligate dimeric complex and exhibited bright fluorescence. On the other hand, 1-41 formed a highly multimeric complex and exhibited dim red fluorescence. We engineered 1-41 into AzaleaB5, a practically useful red-emitting fluorescent protein for cellular labeling applications. We fused h2-3 and AzaleaB5 to the ubiquitination domains of human Geminin and Cdt1, respectively, to generate a new color variant of Fucci (Fluorescent Ubiquitination-based Cell-Cycle Indicator): Fucci5. We found Fucci5 provided brighter nuclear labeling for monitoring cell cycle progression than the 1st and 2nd generations that used mAG/mKO2 and mVenus/mCherry, respectively.

In recent years wireless body area network (WBAN) technology has been accelerated due to the demands that arise to provide solutions to the problems such as population aging, various chronic diseases monitoring and to facilitate data collection. This increasing demands and WBAN deployments always comes with the cost of various security and privacy related problems. Designing an efficient framework to ensure both security protection and reliability in all critical events with considerable energy efficiency is a difficult task to accomplish, due to the multi modal dynamics of the WBAN network topology. The performance of security mechanism and authentication measures has a direct impact on the attainable system performance. In this paper, we briefly introduce unique transformation and data protection schemes for end-to end secured WBAN systems. Here, we first present color variant and key driven QR pattern generation techniques, how they utilized and meets the requirements of security and privacy in WBAN and validated the performance metrics and efficiency of proposed pattern generation and analyzes in providing solution of security and privacy in WBAN.

A striking new sandveld lizard of the Nucras tessellata group is described from the Lambert’s Bay Strandveld of the Western Cape Province, South Africa. It is sister to the clade N. livida + N. tessellata, and is phenetically most similar to N. tessellata, from which it differs in its more elongate body and possibly increased number of presacral vertebrae and patternless orange dorsal coloration. The form elegans, described as a species by Andrew Smith (1838), but treated as an infrasubspecific variant by Broadley (1972), also exhibits weak patterning, but is likely a regional color variant. Nucras aurantiaca sp. nov. is the ninth member of the genus found in southern Africa. Its discovery in the well-collected coastal Western Cape suggests that further herpetofaunal surveys are needed in this region, which is threatened by agricultural activity and tourism-related development.

The focus of this research was to widen the richness of emotive-cultural lexicon which is grow rapidly in the usage area of coastal Javanese, especially in Pati District. By the variant of emotive-cultural lexicon will be found the uniqueness form of politeness and the gradation of politeness in the speaker walks of life. The location of this research was concentrate in Pati District. The selection of respondent and informant by using purposive sampling. The research design was survey and case study. The data collection was done by structured interview, in-depth interview, and focus group discussion. The data was analyze using the connection of emotive-cultural lexicon toward the form of politeness speech, so that the direct substance sorting became the main device in the analysis. The research findings are the power of emotive-cultural lexicon becomes the spirit of speech politeness form for Javanese coastal society in the region of Pati. This spirit also developes the gradation of politeness for the speaker. Lingually, this gradation is determined by the color/variant of emotive-cultural lexicon than the power of extralingual.
