The nano composite, polyaniline antimony tin tungstate in the H+ form was synthesized by a simple general method. EDS and ICP- AES methods were used to find the chemical constitution of the material. Further characterizations were done by TGA, XRD analysis, FTIR Spectroscopic analysis, UV-Visible DRS studies to find the optical properties, SEM for finding surface morphology, etc. Size determination using XRD peaks and TEM images confirmed its nano size. Investigation on ion exchange capacity and distribution coefficients for many metal ions revealed the ion exchange character. The composite exhibited differential selectivity forheavy metal ions such as PbII, ThIV, HgIV, etc. which are important in environmental applications like separation and treatment of polluted water from these metal ions. The electrical properties studied by Four–probe method revealed a high conductivity of 0.42 S/cm at room temperature and it decreases with an increase in temperature. These results suggest various applications of this nano compositein optoelectronics.

AbstractThe synthesis and characterization of porous poly(acrylonitrile(AN)-co-divinylbenzene-80 (DVB-80)-co-vinylbenzylchloride (VBC)) polymers with high specific surface areas and weak anion-exchange character have been successfully researched. The hypercrosslinked (HXL) microspheres were chemically modified with 1,2-ethylenediamine (EDA) to enhance the adsorption selectivity of the HXL materials. The zeta potential of EDA-modified HXL poly(AN-co-DVB-80-co-VBC) revealed that the surface of the modified terpolymer was positively charged. The FT-IR spectra of the chemically modified hypercrosslinked poly(AN-co-DVB-80-co-VBC) showed that the nitrile groups derived from the AN unit were utilised by the presence of diamine groups. The BET-specific surface areas of the EDA-modified hypercrosslinked poly(AN-co-DVB-80-co-VBC) was 503 m2 g−1; meanwhile, the specific surface area of the HXL terpolymer was 983 m2 g−1. The adsorption isotherm data were well fitted by both the Langmuir and Freundlich models, whereas the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. This study confirms that the EDA-modified hypercrosslinked poly(AN-co-DVB-80-co-VBC) terpolymer is a potential adsorbent for the adsorption of acidic pharmaceuticals.

This chapter discloses an invention related to methods and systems to provide secure and custom information exchange code for the users of haptic or kinesthetic communication devices in a variety of applications. The proposed information exchange codes are named as “haptic codes,” where it maps several touch interactive locations into a single information exchange code. Thus, the proposed haptic code facilitates the representation of different notions to unique information exchange character/digit/symbol. A method has been invented to design eight such codes from the intuitive touch gestures (ITG) of user, each of which uses double-touch on arbitrary location within the touch pad/screen without shifting hand position on every touch. Hand position may or may not be the same after the generation of every ITG. Haptic codes are made secure by incorporating a new cryptographic system, which employs polar graph for encoding and decoding such locations using polar curves as shareable keys. Therefore, haptic codes can be exchanged for secure communication and read by devices that supports to touch.

Researching competitiveness of Serbia’s honey sector represents an introduction into a complex issue of dynamic changes with complex heterogenic and long term socio-economic implications. Tracking changes of comparative advantages in export during Serbia’s transition period and accession to the EU is significant for viewing the effects that trade liberalization and integration in international streams have on the sensitive honey sector. The research started from indicators of demand and level of foreign trade in the EU. Quantitative indicators of Serbia’s honey export on European market were shown in order to confirm Serbia’s potential and dominant presence. Research subject of this paper is the analysis of Serbia’s comparative advantage in exporting honey and specialization in international trade with the EU. The Balassa index, Revealed comparative advantages index and Revealed symmetric comparative advantage index were used with the goal to measure the level of Serbia’s comparative advantage, Grubel Lloyd Index and Trade Balance Index were used to measure the specialization level. Research results point to a positive comparative advantage value in exporting Serbia’s honey to EU and inter-industry exchange character.

AbstractWe present radiocarbon (14C) measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) from surface waters of 11 lakes, widely distributed in China. Surface lake water DIC F14C values show distinct differences, and we relate these to the physical exchange character (“open” or “closed”) of each lake. Open lakes studied here generally have lower DIC F14C values than closed lakes. We present a simple model of a lake water cycle to calculate an average residence time for each lake. Comparisons between lake DIC F14C and average residence time shows that the DIC F14C increases with the average residence time and reflects a steady-state.

Regularities of adsorption method of calcium ions extraction from model systems have been studied. Optimal conditions of the adsorption process have been specified. The ion exchange character of the calcium (2+) interaction with modified aluminum silicates has been established. A process flowsheet of water softening has been proposed.
