The non-equivalent doping of Mn4+ in the red-emitting fluoride phosphors effectively shortens the fluorescence lifetime. Herein, we successfully synthesized Rb2NaInF6:Mn4+ phosphors by an ion-exchange method. The compensation mechanism of Mn4+...

Abstract We report on an experiment in which the fluorescence decay time of 5P levels of Rb atoms in a coated vapor cell exceeds several of milliseconds that many orders of magnitude longer than normal decay time of excited of rubidium atoms. This effect has been observed by using the pump laser with fixing frequency and the periodically scan the probing laser frequency of which overlap all Rb hyperfine linens of 5P-5S transition. Long time fluorescence decay take place in wide part of the spherical high quality coated cell. In cylindrical part of the cell or in uncoated cell the long time fluorescence decay was disappeared.

Elpasolite halides scintillation crystals have been proven to be very important materials for X-ray and γ-ray detector applications. The crystals of Cs2KLaCl6:4% Ce (CKLC) and Cs2KCeCl6 (CKCC) belong to novel scintillation of the Chloro-elpasolite crystal family. In this paper, the crystal growth of CKLC and CKCC crystals using the vertical Bridgman techniques were reported. The PXRD patterns showing both crystals have a cubic crystal structure. Both crystals have similar photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, the fluorescence decay time of CKLC and CKCC crystals were about 49.7 and 33.8 ns. The energy resolution under the excitation of 662 keV γ-rays from a 137Cs source were found to be 6.6% and 5.2% (FWHM), respectively. The scintillation decay times of CKLC crystal were τ1 = 127 ns (33%) and τ2 = 1617 ns (67%), while that of CKCC crystal were τ1 = 2.86 ns (5%) and τ2 = 81 ns (95%).

We report on the synthesis of long silver nanowires using the hydrothermal method, with H2O2 as the reducing agent. Our approach yields nanowires with an average diameter and length of about 100 nm and 160 µm, respectively, reaching the maximum length of 800 µm. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements revealed the presence of a thick, inhomogeneous poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) layer covering the nanowires, which with time becomes much more uniform, leading to well-defined extinction peaks in the ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectra. This change in morphology is evidenced also by the fluorescence enhancement behavior probed using protein complexes. Wide-field and confocal fluorescence microscopy measurements demonstrate strong, 10-fold enhancement of the protein emission intensity, accompanied by a reduction of the fluorescence decay time. In addition, for the aged, one-month-old nanowires, the uniformity of the intensity profile along them was substantially improved as compared with the as-synthesized ones. The results point towards the importance of the morphology of plasmonically active silver nanowires when considering their application in enhancing optical properties or achieving energy propagation over submillimeter distances.
