This chapter presents the application of the concept of gradual technology to improve and increase the productivity of a workshop for the manufacture of handcrafted furniture owned by a cooperative formed by members of the Guarijía ethnic group, located in San Bernardo, Alamos, Sonora. The production process of the rustic furniture called “stool” was systematized and equipment was designed taking into account basic ergonomic aspects. Production sub-processes of the workshop and equipment were improved, including machinery design, purchase of basic technology, adaptation of electric current, water, and air conditioning systems. The basic inputs for manufacturing the furniture, such as wood and cowhide, were studied to determine whether the production of the stool affected the environment. The operating personnel in charge of the cooperative were trained in the use of the equipment and in the visualization of the improved processes.

“Kampus Mengajar” aimed to assist the process of teaching and learning at the elementary-junior high school level through technology adaptation, teaching numeracy and literacy, and administrative procedures. The deployment of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required learning to be conducted online, will significantly help the school, especially related to technology adaptation. However, this program was less attractive to students and lecturers at the University of Merdeka Malang; this was evident from the relatively small participation of students and lecturers at batch 1. In the initial observation, the “Kampus Mengajar” was less attractive because it did not follow the existing scientific competencies at the University of Merdeka Malang; thus, it was difficult to conduct a credit conversion process. This low participation affects the IKU ranking, where the University of Malang is in cluster 3 with 75.21. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the “Kampus Mengajar” as an effort to increase the participation of the University of Merdeka Malang academic community. This research was conducted using an exploratory survey research method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and FGDs. The results showed that the implementation of the Kampus Mengajar at the University of Merdeka Malang had been running through socialization at the central level to the study programs. There was an increase in participation in each batch, both lecturers and students.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted educational leaders to restructure the curriculum and modify the instructional set-up to accommodate remote learning of which using technology is the most viable solution to the existing problem. This study explores how teachers adapt and utilise technology-based teaching, and what makes students learn under blended learning modalities in Taytay Senior High School. Quantitatively, using the validated survey questionnaire anchored on the technology adaptation model and the adaptive learning environment model, this study revealed that teachers' age is the factor in all aspects of the model (performance and effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions). When comparing the adaptation levels of students and teachers, it showed that teachers were slightly higher than the students, and that there is a negligible correlation. The findings of this study will serve as baseline data for immediate actions for items that surfaced concerns as hindrance or factors that can hamper students’ academic performance. Keywords: Technology adaptation, online classes, remote learning, Senior High School, Philippines.

The SARS CoV2 pandemic has a tremendous impact on both developed and developing countries. To mitigate against community transmission of SARS CoV2 in Southern Bhutan and Central Bangladesh, the development and application of appropriate technologies was undertaken. As an appropriate mitigation, hand washing station was constructed by a simple system. The system was operated using a foot pedal to limit cross contamination by direct hand contact, hand sanitizer utilization and disinfection application in Central Bangladesh. The study highlighted a local innovation in constrained environments to provide public health solutions for preventing the spread of SARS CoV2. The innovation and mitigation measures can be replicated in other resource challenged regions of the world as mitigations steps to limit community transmission of SARS CoV2.
