“Kampus Mengajar” aimed to assist the process of teaching and learning at the elementary-junior high school level through technology adaptation, teaching numeracy and literacy, and administrative procedures. The deployment of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, which required learning to be conducted online, will significantly help the school, especially related to technology adaptation. However, this program was less attractive to students and lecturers at the University of Merdeka Malang; this was evident from the relatively small participation of students and lecturers at batch 1. In the initial observation, the “Kampus Mengajar” was less attractive because it did not follow the existing scientific competencies at the University of Merdeka Malang; thus, it was difficult to conduct a credit conversion process. This low participation affects the IKU ranking, where the University of Malang is in cluster 3 with 75.21. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of the “Kampus Mengajar” as an effort to increase the participation of the University of Merdeka Malang academic community. This research was conducted using an exploratory survey research method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and FGDs. The results showed that the implementation of the Kampus Mengajar at the University of Merdeka Malang had been running through socialization at the central level to the study programs. There was an increase in participation in each batch, both lecturers and students.

Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) was established through Permendikbud No. 3 of 2020 concerning National Standards for Higher Education (SN-Dikti). MBKM brings significant changes, where universities must make adjustments to these changes. The success of the implementation of MBKM in higher education is measured using 8 Key Performance Indicators (IKU). One of the 9 BKP that is quite interesting is the National Defense activity or Komponen Cadangan (Komcad). Currently, the Ministry of Defense is preparing derivative regulations from the RI Law Number 23 of 2019 concerning the Management of National Resources for National Defense relating to the formation of Reserve Components. Discipline and Honesty. Student motivation directly influences Interest in Enrolling in the MBKM: Komcad Program, meaning that each student's motivation greatly encourages student interest in enrolling in the MBKM: Komcad program. Indirectly, discipline through Student Motivation has a significant influence on Interest in Enrolling in the MBKM: Komcad Program, meaning that Interest in Enrolling in the MBKM: Komcad Program is strongly influenced by the discipline and motivation of the students themselves.

The beginning of this major change was the existence of a very large gap between the output of university graduates and the need for experts in the business and industrial world so that various forms of MBKM activities were projected to provide real contextual experiences that could increase competence, prepare well to enter the world of work and industry, and create new jobs. One of the MBKM programs with the greatest possibility according to competency linearity is the Certified Independent Study and Internship Program (MSIB), where students go directly to the world of work and learn according to their competencies based on experience in the field or project-based learning. The methodology of this research is descriptive qualitative, with the entire population of the University of Merdeka Malang academic community, MSIB participants, and stakeholders in the MSIB Program. Data were obtained through questionnaires, interviews, and Forum Group Discussion. Some of the measurable results include the impact of the implementation of the MSIB program having a good perception at Merdeka University Malang, students have high motivation and interest in implementing the MSIB program, the MSIB program has a direct influence as evidenced by the assessments given by lecturers and students' perspectives on themselves.
