ABSTRACT Making a budget plan in a project is often done manually which of course takes a long time to complete. In determining the budget plan, there are many types of work such as preparatory work, reinforced concrete work, and steel work, so it is quite difficult to work on. The budget plan can only be done by experts in the field, so it requires quite expensive processing costs. From the problems described above, we need a program that can simplify the calculation of the budget plan, especially in steel works (WF Beam). In this case, we created a program using the python language that needed to input some data such as rod length, number of bars, type of steel, steel prices, and work wages so that it would immediately produce a value or amount of the volume and price of a steel work that could help contractors especially steel subcontractors in calculating steel work (WF Beam). Keywords: python, RAB, WF beam, work volume, job price.

Abstract This work reports the possibility of uranium recovery from a post-mining uranium ore dump in Poland by a bioleaching method. The studies were conducted on the dump leaching model with the mass of 570 kg of uranium bearing mineral material from Radoniów pile and in the periodic bioreactor with a work volume of 80 dm3 and with mechanical mixing and aeration of the charge. The uranium concentration in the examined material was about 800 ppm. In this process, the consortium of microorganisms isolated from former mines was used. It was composed of the following microorganisms: Bacillius, Pseudomonas, Sphingomonas, Thiobacillus, Halothiobacillus, Thiomonas, and Geothrix. The efficiency of the uranium bioleaching process was 98% in the reactor, and a yield of 70% was obtained in the dump leaching model. The post-leaching solution contained significant amounts of uranium ions that were separated in two stages: (1) by ion chromatography and then (2) by a two-step precipitation method. The resulting solution was a source of ammonium diuranate, the precursor of yellowcake (uranium oxides).

Abstract: This report represents an designing and simulating ideal pick and place robot which should carry out the operations in minimum time and should also be cost efficient. It is four degrees of freedom parallel configuration used for very high speed pick and place operations. The objectives of this report are designing a Delta robot capable of carrying 1kg payload, achieving a cycle rate of 120 cycles per minute covering a work volume of 400x300x200 mm3. The project involves Kinematic & Dynamic modeling of the robot for the above specifications. The kinematic parameters, involving the lengths of the bicep and forearm, are calculated based on the work volume requirements and the dynamic parameters, involving the motor torque and speed, are calculated based on the maximum acceleration requirements and the inertia of the system. The project further involves the structural analysis of the robot which deals with the proper sizing of the mechanical structure which should be capable of withstanding the high torque and acceleration required for smooth and fast motion. The future work involves integrating the mechanical system with the control system and programming the system for a particular application

Purpose This study aims to investigate how the situational factors that facilities managers (FMs) in Singapore face in their jobs affect their work outcomes. Job situation factors such as types of tasks, interpersonal relationships in teams, supervisors’ actions and advancements opportunities are classified into job characteristics, social environment characteristics, leadership and organisational practices categories. Design/methodology/approach Based on a systematic literature review, a questionnaire was designed to collect data on work outcomes and job situational factors from FMs working in public housing estates in Singapore. Using the Statistical Package for the Social Science software, inferential statistical analyses were carried out. Findings FMs reported that they used economical means and resources to carry out their work significantly frequently and achieved significantly high productivity. Complaints are received significantly frequently and maintenance defects are regularly encountered. Many of the job situational factors are present and found to be significantly correlated with work outcomes and some of these may be used to predict FMs’ work outcomes. Based on the correlation results, the frequency of complaints from residents may be reduced through the following ways: make FMs’ work tasks less challenging; reduce the variety of work tasks that FMs need to execute; reduce FMs’ work volume and speed of work. Research limitations/implications This study is limited to FMs managing public housing estates in Singapore. The work outcomes are self-reported, and thus susceptible to bias. However, as the respondents reported significantly frequent complaints and defects, this might indicate that the bias is not serious. Practical implications FMs’ jobs should be broken down into small parts/tasks and assigned to different FMs to specialise. This makes FMs’ tasks less challenging, and allows them to specialise to increase their productivity, improve their quality of work and overcome the problem of high work volume or demanding work speed. By adopting job specialisation, the frequency of receiving complaints from residents may be reduced. Originality/value This study discovered strategies to reduce the number of complaints from residents of public housing about facilities management. The contribution to knowledge is that complaints by residents on facilities management can be reduced by adopting job specialisation but not job enlargement. Decomposing work into different tasks and allowing FMs to focus on a few tasks would lead to a reduction in complaints. It also enables FMs to master the skill and complete the tasks without much oversight or supervision.

Introduction: Ongoing professional education is an essential activity to ensure that hospital staff are using the best available evidence to deliver healthcare. Hospital staff from a range of professional groups cite increasing work volume and being too time poor to complete or attend education. To address this issue, a new 5-minute online education format (Take 5) was developed. Methods: A descriptive study using a short evaluation survey was undertaken at Royal Perth Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, to evaluate interprofessional healthcare staffs’ levels of engagement with the new education format. Results: The Take 5 education format facilitated the development of over 120 topics available via an intranet library page. During the study, it received 26,623 hits, averaging 19.3 visits per day. Topics were downloaded 45,611 times. Medication discrepancies (n = 1,326) and personal protective equipment (PPE) conservation (n = 1,115) were the most frequently downloaded. A total of 2,001 evaluation surveys were received, with nursing and medicine having the highest participation. The majority of staff (n = 1,895; 94.4%) rated the resource as having “good” to “high” quality content. Qualitative data showed that the topics were informative, easy to access and understand and perceived to help the participants change their clinical practice. Conclusion: The Take 5 uptake has been strong and sustained, as highlighted by the substantive utilisation and evaluation. The concept was not designed to replace formal education but to act as an adjunct, providing key education to meet staff demands. It provided immediacy of information and quality evidence-based content and directed the learner to more formal learning content and resources.

The current context of the pandemic crisis has led to unexpected educational changes. It has forced the institutions to rapidly adapt their teaching and learning methodologies in all areas, especially in higher education. This situation, atypical, has given rise to numerous reflections on the ability of institutions to adapt to this new paradigm. This research aims to understand how the Portuguese Higher Education Institution (Polytechnic of Guarda) teachers have adjusted their teaching and learning process to distance learning situation. We constructed a quantitative investigation with a survey applied to the population, consisting of 158 elements, achieving 102 valid answers, 65% of the population. The results show that despite the initial doubts and concerns at the beginning of the process, there was always a substantial increase in work volume. There was a rapid adaptation to new teaching and learning methodologies in COVID-19 time. Overall, most of the inquiries considered this distance learning experience to be very positive.

The efficiency of state governance can be attained only on the basis of developing new systems of informational-analytical support, through which it could be possible to reach completeness and accuracy of information and to make and implement managerial decisions at all level of state power. The article studies mechanism of informational-analytical support of forecasting social and economic development of the city of Sevastopol’. On the basis of empiric research methods and approaches to forecasting social and economic development of Sevastopol’ were identified and a medium-term forecast of social parameters was made. The authors presented the forecast of the index of gross regional product on the basis of correlation – regressive analysis. To forecast social and economic development of Sevastopol’ the following factors were used: the number and structure of labour at the age of 15 +; dynamics of work volume carried out in ‘Construction’; index of investment into fixed capital. This approach can be useful for bodies of state power and introduction of the forecasting model can help settle problems dealing with optimizing state and managerial decision-making on the regional level.

In this work volume-translated Peng–Robinson group contribution equation of state was used to calculate excess enthalpies. Four model systems were selected with the purpose to compare experimental and predicted enthalpy values at different temperatures. After the calculations were performed in Matlab software, results were verified with free software tool of Dortmunder Datenbank (DDB). In a next step, the mixing process and interaction forces were described on the basis of the sign and course of enthalpy values. The endothermic behavior of three systems could be well predicted, while for the most polar system, predictions were less precise. Furthermore, the discrepancy between experimental data from the literature and predicted values was discussed to evaluate the accuracy of the selected model. Lowest mean deviations (<75 J/mol and <15% at all temperatures) could be stated for alkane/benzene mixtures, while highest deviations could be again observed for the most polar mixture. Although the magnitude of deviations was in agreement with the literature, it could be shown that the selected temperature is of major importance for the quality of predictions. Furthermore, a review of different literature values for the n-hexane/benzene system could reveal that the reliability of experimental data has to be carefully checked.

Dental hygienists are in high demand due to insufficient workforce and a lack of an effective reinstatement support system. We investigated the reasons for willingness to work by analyzing the survey results of the employment status of Japanese dental hygienists conducted by Japan Dental Hygienists’ Association. In total, we mailed 16,113 questionnaires to all members of the association (response rate 53.4%). We carried out statistical analysis to determine the specific items to improve the hygienists’ working environment. Fourteen factors of working conditions that they wish to improve were determined. Structural equation modeling showed that a path, “Reduction of work volume”, “Reduction of working hours” and “Increased number of holidays” were higher than other items. A decision analysis demonstrated that most of the respondents answered “Yes” to “Improvement in working conditions including higher salary” out of those who answered, “Strongly disagree” for “Do you feel that dental hygienist work is rewarding?”. Improving workplace environment is integral to keeping high levels of work motivation and a low turnover rate. Most of the hygienists wish for a salary raise among all the conditions. The transition from conventional work styles to non-conventional flexible working patterns is needed.
