Abstract Background Walking is a simple activity that could help to reduce the prevalence of chronic diseases in all populations. Furthermore, an inverse dose-response relationship exists between steps taken and risk of premature death and cardiovascular events in middle-aged and older adults. There is a lack of information on how to effectively engage older adults around retirement age in walking. This qualitative study explored attitudes towards walking in older people with regard to habits, intensity, preferences and strategies for increasing walking behaviour. Methods In-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with 26 older adults who were either close to retirement or recently retired. An inductive thematic analysis was conducted. Results Three themes were identified from the data; 1) Engagement and perceived value of walking; was focused on the meaning of walking for the participant and the attributes they associate with their walking practice. 2) Integration and connectivity of walking; was focused on how participants integrate walking in their daily lives and whether walking can be practiced as a viable means of connectivity. 3) Strategies to increase walking; was focused on what factors motivate participants in their walking practice and what strategies they perceived to be beneficial to increase walking distance and intensity at an individual level. Discussion The views of walking in people of retirement age were represented within 3 key themes. The factors contained in these themes that may influence future walking practice are discussed with regard to future strategies to promote walking in the retirement life change. Conclusion It may be beneficial to promote qualitative aspects of walking practice and strive for regularity rather than intensity of walking to accrue the social, psychological and intellectual benefits reported by individuals in the retirement life change.

Tourism becomes a wealth that will not run out otherwise tourism will continue to grow if the management is getting better. Media relations becomes one of the alternatives in helping the promotion process of a tourist destination. This study aims to analyze the media relations strategy in promoting tourist destinations that focus on the Kutang beach district Lamongan. This research applies a qualitative naturalistic method where there is no manipulation of an event (background) of research. The result of this research is the use of media relations to be one of the main components in improving the development of coastal tourism destinations. Use of media relations applied: 1) Press Release Activity, 2) Conference Press, 3) Event, 4) Press Message. Some of these activities carried out by involving the community, managers, government, and tourists, so that the implementation of media relations activities can be maximized. Some media relations activities that have been carried out are press release activities, press conferences, special events. One of which dominating is a special event because it is considered by the speaker as a simple activity that is able to have a tremendous impact, with the event, media partners from themselves will involve themselves in the event activities. Besides conducting media relations, it is also necessary to establish segmentation and clear segmenting. It is also necessary to do tourism differentiation to create sustainable tourism.

Students often struggle to understand the full implications of some basic chemical concepts of DNA structure and function, especially how DNA’s directionality and antiparallel nature determine key functional features of replication and molecular recombination. Visualizing the complexities of these processes requires a working knowledge of how DNA’s nucleotides are assembled and how these components interact. This article describes a simple activity that can be used to visualize how nucleotides join together, how base pairs form, and, most importantly, how the active processes of replication and recombination are related to DNA chemistry. In this activity, students model DNA structure, with each student representing a single nucleotide, then join together to form a polynucleotide with 5′ to 3′ directionality. Two chains then pair to form the antiparallel DNA duplex. The activity not only illustrates the basic chemistry of DNA but also allows students to participate in active modeling of leading-strand and lagging-strand replication and in the formation of the Holliday junction molecule, the basic intermediate of recombination events including crossing over and gene conversion. The demonstrations can be videotaped from above to make a permanent copy of these events for teaching and study purposes. Example illustrations and links to videos are included.

Writing is not a natural talent in language acquisition since it necessitates both editing and revising, making it appear to be a simple activity. A dictionary might be used by students to assist them use a foreign language in any situation. These exercises, however, may cause a number of mistakes in pupils' writing tasks. In light of this, the purpose of this study is to detect students' difficulties and grammatical mistakes during the academic writing process. In this study, mixed techniques were used to document the works of vocational college students and conduct interviews with them.  The evidence on learners' grammatical mistakes was gathered, transcribed, evaluated, and interpreted. The students' mistakes were found to be in the following areas: tense (38.0%), preposition (11.7%), article (11.4%), conjunction (11.4%), omission (8.9%), subject-verb agreement (6.3%), and adverb (6.3%). (2.5 percent ). Meanwhile, according to the interview, most of the students (81.8 percent) utilized a translation tool such as Google translate to help with language competency during the writing process. Despite using a translation tool in writing, the majority of students (73%) said it was a challenging ability to master, and 18% considered the writing process was the most difficult of all language tasks.

The aim was to test a method developed in nuclear industry applied to a simple activity, the radial artery puncture, and to assess its capacity to improve performance. The method involved digital ethnography based on the Square of PErceived ACtion model applied in real operating situation and first-person perspective video for post-analysis of the activity in order to improve training design. Two types of training sessions were compared in terms of trainees’ performance, one of them taking benefits of the digital ethnography analysis (restructured session) and the other without (classic session): medical students trained in the anesthesiology department of the university (N=24) were summoned for training in the framework of their university curriculum. Data obtained were used to restructure the training session and to elaborate an evaluation grid to assess performance in both sessions. Trainees’ motivation was assessed through the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. The restructured session showed significantly higher overall performance (increased by 13%), improvement of every criterion assessed and no alteration of motivation. The improvement obtained for radial puncture matches this observed in nuclear industry. The improvement is two folds: at the level of the training efficiency and at the level of trainees’ performance.

Meditation should not be considered a simple activity that is performed with focused attention; this is concentration. When practicing concentration correctly, with a good “anchor” for attention, a specific state of mind takes place, in which logic relaxation happens, and there is a relative freedom from self-identification. Such states of mind are to be experienced and cannot be practiced; thus, meditation techniques (concentrations) are the means to reach this goal. Those who achieve such a state experience positive neurophysiological effects, which have been studied for decades, such as increased functionality and connectivity of the brain, and also increased gray matter volume in specific cortical areas, whether in the young or in the elderly. Meditation has, thus, a proven potential role to help one maintain a healthy cognition and should be included in daily life routines of everybody who wishes for it.

Keeping and feeding of companion carnivores (dogs and cats) appear to be a simple activity for a shallow observer. By a multidimensional approach, all three domains of health can be analysed in the course of pet-feeding. The interest of animal health requires healthy, nutritious, and non-infectious pet food. At the same time, public health necessitates safety for pet owners and their families. By going much deeper, the environmental impacts of pets and pet foods can be identified. This review gathers the animal and human health and environmental aspects of domestic carnivore feeding. Based on the literature, it can be claimed that for the present, few data are available to determine the right way of feeding to reach the balance between all three domains of health.
