In this study, low-dimensional CsPbBr3@CoBr2 super-nanowire (SNW) structures were synthesized via a one-pot heating strategy for highly blue emissions. By introducing CoBr2 to CsPbBr3 precursors, the shape of perovskite nanocrystals was changed from cuboids to a super-nanowire structure, as revealed through a transmission electron microscope. SNWs were formed from stacked segments of nano-plates (lateral dimension of 10–12 nm and thickness of ~2.5 nm) with lengths of several microns. The fabricated sample absorbs light at a wavelength of <450 nm, and it is emitted at a wavelength of 475 nm. It also has a radiant flux conversion efficiency of up to 85% when stimulated by a 430 nm LED light source. The average decay time of up to 80 µs indicates that they effectively prevent the recombination of electron–hole pair. The optical performance still remains over 65% when the ambient temperature is up to 120 °C compared with that under room temperature. The excellent color purity, optical quantum efficiency, long carrier lifetime, and thermal stability make CsPbBr3@CoBr2 SNWs highly promising for a range of photolumicescence applications, such as a high color rendering index lighting and transparent blue emissive screen.

The commercial powder disperse dye used for printing polyester fabrics exhibits many environmentally-unfriendly properties, especially the associated high wastewater emission. In this study, three kinds of liquid disperse dyes (C.I. Disperse Blue 291:1, (L-DB); C.I. Disperse Red 179, (L-DR), and C.I. Disperse Orange 30, (L-DO)), two kinds of binders (A and/or B), and a micro-printing process, were applied to polyester fabric, with the goal of reducing freshwater consumption while maintaining color fastness. The influences of rheological and printing performance and color fastness were studied. Home-made liquid dyes of L-DB, L-DR and L-DO were found to exhibit higher color depth, excellent color fastness, and ultralow emission of wastewater and waste residual during the micro-printing process. The binder comprised of silicone-modified polyacrylate was observed to increase dye uptake, reduce dye sublimation, and improve color fastness. The liquid dyes of L-DB, L-DR and L-DO also exhibit stable and better rheological properties, which appeared to have little effect on the viscosity of printing pastes when compared with commercial powder disperse dye of Blue 3GFL (C.I. Disperse Blue 291:1), Red 2B (C.I. Disperse Red 179) and Yellow brown S-4RL (C.I. Disperse Orange 30), respectively. Results of this micro-printing process indicated that it is an environmentally clean production technology.

Clinical Relevance Although excellent color-matching ability was confirmed for the structural colored resin composite Omnichroma, care should be taken to ensure that the appropriate chromatic color conditions for restoration are achieved in the oral environment. SUMMARY Purpose: The present study evaluated the color-matching ability of a structural colored resin composite to compare it with resin composites employing pigments. Methods and Materials: A structural colored resin composite (Omnichroma [OMC]), a supranano-filled resin composite (Estelite Σ Quick [ELQ]), and a nano-filled resin composite (Filtek Supreme Ultra [FSU]) were used. Each resin composite was packed into a Teflon mold and pressed down with a clear strip under a glass slide. The specimens were light irradiated through the slide with a light-emitting diode curing unit. The thickness of the specimens (n=6) was measured with a digital caliper before being transferred to distilled water and stored at 37°C for 24 hours. The measurements of the optical characteristics of the specimens on a black-and-white background were performed using a spectrophotometer. D65 (CIE D65) was used as a light source for the spectrophotometer. Measurements were repeated three times for each specimen under each color-measurement condition, and average values for three same-shade specimens were calculated. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc tests were used (α=0.05). To determine its ability to match the color of artificial teeth, each shade of resin composite was placed in a cavity before performing color measurements. Using a spectrophotometer (CMS-35F S/C) with a flexible sensor, L*, a*, and b* values were obtained. Results: The spectral reflectance curve of OMC showed that it reflected light wavelengths from 430-700 nm regardless of the background color and thickness of the specimens. The percentage of reflectance of ELQ decreased near wavelengths of 550-580 nm. Regarding the influence of background color on CIE L*, a*, b* values, the L* level showed significantly higher values for all tested materials with white backgrounds, and OMC was most affected by the difference in background color. However, a* values of ELQ and FSU were significantly higher with a black background than with a white background, and OMC showed a significantly higher value with a white background than with a black background. The b* values were higher with a white background than with a black background and were significantly higher for all three products, and these tendencies were much greater for ELQ and FSU. Conclusions: The ability of OMC to match the color of artificial teeth showed acceptable color compatibility, regardless of the shade of the artificial teeth and the depth of the cavity. However, ELQ and FSU showed reduced color compatibility, especially for a cavity depth of 3.0 mm. Excellent color matching ability was confirmed for the structural colored resin composite OMC, resulting in reduced color differences and therefore improving the esthetic appearance of the restoration, simplifying shade matching, and compensating for any color mismatch.

Cationic dyeable polyamide 6 (CD-PA6) fiber, as a novel functional polyamide 6 (PA6) fiber, conforms to people's requirements for fashion clothing. However, due to the limitation of the hetero-end groups after caprolactam hydrolysis, it is difficult to introduce comonomers into the PA6 molecular chain to prepare PA6-based polymers with a certain molecular weight and maintain the original physical properties and spinnability. In this paper, through molecular design of PA6 segments, 5-sulfoisophthalic acid monosodium salt (5-SSIPA) was introduced into PA6 by copolymerization, and a CD-PA6 masterbatch with an addition amount of 10 wt% was prepared. CD-PA6 were prepared by blending with pure PA6 with masterbatch technology. The melt-spinning method was used to prepare CD-PA6 filaments, and they were woven into fabrics. The results show that the CD-PA6 masterbatch and PA6 have good blending compatibility. CD-PA6 filaments and fabrics maintain the excellent physical properties of PA6. When the addition amount of 5-SSIPA is 3%, the dye uptake rate of the cationic pigment exceeds 90%, and it has color affinity and excellent color fastness.

Movies or stories with superheroes theme always give color to the hearts of the audience. GoGo Dino film, which is an animated cartoon series from South Korea, also provides an excellent color to the audience. This study aims to analyze the Appraisal System used in the opening song lyrics of the Indonesian version of the GoGo Dino cartoon series. The research data obtained were then analyzed using Martin and White’s Appraisal System theory. Researchers used qualitative descriptive methods in explaining the results of the study. It can be seen that in the lyrics of the song, the author of the lyrics implements less use of affect and uses more judgment. The Judgment implementation shows that a person, or in this case, a superhero, is valued by his behavior parameters. From the behavior parameters, it can bring up the effect of affect which is a person’s reaction to the behavior.

AbstractRecently, quantum dots (QDs) are finding enormous application in white light emitting diodes (WLEDs) and WLEDs with high color rendition are in high demand. QD-WLEDs use different color (Red, Blue, Green) emitting QDs to obtain white light. Use of different color emitting QDs affect purity of white light due to self-absorption losses and QD degradation, in the long run affecting color rendering index (CRI) of WLEDs. Herein, we report low cost, environment friendly, open air atmosphere synthesis of single system white light emitting carbon dots (CDs) with broad emission bandwidth ranging 116 –143 nm and quantum yields (QY) ~ 5 – 13 % in colloidal state by modifying CD surface. Furthermore, carbon dot polymer phosphor (CD-PDMS phosphor) is fabricated which emits white light under UV illumination with a record emission bandwidth of ~ 154 nm and QY ~ 16 % in solid state. Moreover, CD-PDMS phosphor exhibit excellent color rendering index (CRI) ~ 96, the highest reported so far with CIE co-ordinates (0.31, 0.33) that are quite akin to pure white light. Such high performances are achieved due to high quality of CDs and CD-PDMS polymer phosphors by precise control in passivation/functionalization of nanoparticle surface. This work will set platform for the application of CD-phosphor based WLEDs in lighting systems.

<p>Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are a lighting technology with a huge and ascending market. Typically, LED backlights are often paired with inorganic phosphors made from rare-earth elements (REEs) to tune the emission lineshapes for different applications. However, REE production is a resource-intensive process with many negative environmental impacts. Herein we develop organic hybrid LEDs using organic dyes synthesized from an abundant and non-toxic natural product (theobromine) to replace REE phosphors. The resulting hybrid LED generates continuous emission from 400 – 740 nm, resulting in high color rendering index (the current industry standard) of 90 and color fidelity index (the most advanced and comprehensive standard) of 92, challenging commercial LEDs based on REE phosphors. In addition, the light-converting composite is made from 99 wt% SBS, an inexpensive industrial polymer, and 1wt% theobromine dyes, reducing the cost of the light converter to ¢1.30 for a 1 W LED, compared to approximately ¢ 19.2 of commercial products. The light converting efficiency of the dye-SBS composite is 82%. Excited state kinetics experiments were also conducted to provide guidance to further increase the light-converting efficiency of the theobromine dyes while maintaining excellent color rendering and fidelity. </p>

Purpose: This study evaluated the functional and aesthetic outcomes of a wide-second dorsal metacarpal artery perforator flap for reconstruction of the first web space of the hand. This flap sets the proximal edge of the extensor retinaculum as the distal limit.Methods: We measured the preoperative and postoperative angles of the first web space and assessed the quality of the donor site scar in eight patients.Results: The average flap size was 5.5 × 2.8 cm (range, 5.0 × 1.5 cm to 5.0 × 6.0 cm), and all flaps survived completely. The mean postoperative angle was 53°. The mean Vancouver Scar Scale score of the donor site was 4 points, and the patients had near-normal thickness and vascularity values. There was no distortion of the scar, and patients were satisfied with the scar appearance of the donor site.Conclusion: The wide-second dorsal metacarpal artery perforator flap is a useful technique to reconstruct large defects of the first web space. It is easy to raise, thin, and pliable, and has excellent color and tissue matching.
