As the importance of non-technical skills in the software engineering industry increases, the skill sets of graduates match less and less with industry expectations. A growing body of research exists that attempts to identify this skill gap. However, only few so far explicitly compare opinions of the industry with what is currently being taught in academia. By aggregating data from three previous works, we identify the three biggest non-technical skill gaps between industry and academia for the field of software engineering: devoting oneself to continuous learning , being creative by approaching a problem from different angles , and thinking in a solution-oriented way by favoring outcome over ego . Eight follow-up interviews were conducted to further explore how the industry perceives these skill gaps, yielding 26 sub-themes grouped into six bigger themes: stimulating continuous learning , stimulating creativity , creative techniques , addressing the gap in education , skill requirements in industry , and the industry selection process . With this work, we hope to inspire educators to give the necessary attention to the uncovered skills, further mitigating the gap between the industry and the academic world.

Latvia in the 11th–13th century poses a curious case for the coexistence of two different practices of Baltic ware production. The Baltic ware pots from lower reaches of the River Daugava and from the Courland region look not just stylistically, but also technologically different. Our paper assessed the production traces by using macro-observations, Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) and extensive ethnographic material of Slavic pottery production of the 1900s, as well as using modern replicas as visual aids to assist in the identification of the principal coil attachment methods. The results showed that potters from the lower reaches of Daugava used the wheel’s rotation extensively during the shaping process of Baltic ware. The production of the pots required the potter to possess a level of technical skill which implied a level of professionalisation. Baltic ware from Courland was less technically complicated and used comparatively more of the methods of handmade pottery production.

Based on the needs of regional industrial development and technical personnel training, the training base for technical skill as the core function has effectively enhanced the development of vocational education. However, at present, the training base in vocational colleges is mainly applied for students’ teaching, and the overall utilization rate is low. It is of great importance in the rational application of software and hardware resources onto the training base to widely carry out popular science activities. The importance of training base construction and scientific popularization is expounded. On this basis, the research team took the S&T racing training base as a case to study its expandable scientific popularization function. The practice results show that using the resources of the training base to carry out scientific popularization activities can greatly improve teenagers’ interest in automobile technology. More training bases in vocational colleges should expand the function of scientific popularization.

Entrepreneurship skills are an individual’s ability to make business in a profitable way. The study focused on to develop a tool to measure the entrepreneurial skill among the agripreneurs by reviewing of literature. Item selection and scoring procedure had been included in this study. Based on the reliability and validity testing, this study finalized the instruments to yielding seven indicators, namely, marketing dimension, psychological magnitude, managerial skill, behavioural skill, technical skill, communication competency, cognitive skill. It is recommended that future researchers apply and thereby extend the developed measure by cross-examining the instruments presented in this study across different entrepreneurs study. The results obtained will be helpful in planning and implementing the capacity development programmes. Among seven indictors and the respective sub indicators, the indicators and sub indicators having above 0.75 relative weightage score had taken for final index. The study found that marketing skill (0.88), psychological magnitude (0.89), behavioural skill (0.79), technical skill (0.83), communication competency (0.93) and cognitive skill (0.89) were the major skill of the agri entrepreneurs, should possess to run their business effectively and efficiently.

This research aims to find out: 1) Futsal playing skills of futsal extracurricular participants; 2) Basic techniques of playing futsal extracurricular participants. The sample in this study was an extracurricular futsal participant at Muhammadiyah Vocational School of Sadang which numbered 20 participants. This research design is a quantitative descriptive study with one variable without making comparisons and connecting with other variables. This study uses the FIK Jogja Futsal Skills Test instrument. The data analysis technique used is percentage, aims to collect data, present data and determine value, in addition to conclusions that can be made with reference to the standard of basic futsal skill level that has been determined. The results of the study can be concluded that the level of futsal playing skills of futsal athletes is sufficient with the consideration of the most frequency in the category enough with an average number of 76.61 at intervals 70-82, namely middle value. The results of this study have implications: 1. The emergence of coach awareness in improving the quality of exercises carried out, especially exercises related to the ability to play futsal. 2. Encouraged coach to improve basic technical skills of playing futsal such as passing, dribble and shooting in students, as well as as an effort to achieve maximum results. This research can contribute information about the skill level of futsal athletes, so that it can be used as a consideration in compiling a training program or further research aimed at improving the futsal skills of futsal athletes. Keywords: Basic Skills, Futsal, Extracurricular, Student High School

During the 2020 lockdown in response to COVID-19, students in the Master of Psychotherapy at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) were required to rapidly move their clinical work online. We surveyed these students about their experience of working clinically online. We used a mixed-methods approach and analysed qualitative data using grounded theory methods. Students found the move online difficult, with technological challenges, the loss of a professional clinical space, and having to establish and maintain the therapeutic alliance in the unfamiliar online setting. They showed a strong preference for in-person clinical work, along with scepticism about the efficacy of online therapy, though some acknowledged its convenience and others its currency and relevance. Most expressed a need for more specific training in online therapy. Students rated their technological skill level higher than their levels of interest in online communication. This suggests that preferences, rather than technical skill, influenced their hesitancy for working clinically online. While online therapy can impose increased strain on clinicians and directly impact their capacity to manage online clinical work, the literature finds strong and consistent evidence that online therapy has equivalent outcomes to in-person therapy. There is significant emphasis in the literature on the disjunct between the outcomes evidence and therapist expectations. This is modified somewhat by training and experience in online therapy. We recommend that research- active psychotherapists engage actively and collaboratively with the profession, through professional bodies, to encourage research-informed professional development and practice for clinicians; and that further research is conducted into effective strategies for training in online clinical delivery.
