A number of empirical correlations have been achieved between the hydraulic properties measured through geoelectrical methods and water well data of Arak Aquifer located in Markazi province, Iran. The geoelectrical method of Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) technique was used to calculate the hydraulic properties of the aquifer. Through the VES technique, the pivotal hydraulic properties such as porosity, hydraulic conductivity, and specific yield of the layers were calculated. The results of VES technique were compared with the data obtained from seven observation water wells that were already drilled as exploratory coring boreholes in the region. The results demonstrate that as the porosity and hydraulic conductivity of the water-bearing layer increase, the results of VES technique appear much identical to the water well records. Furthermore, the specific yield was calculated as 4.6% that was very close to the value of 3.5% measured through the previous pumping tests. Moreover, VES technique predicted the water table of the aquifer very close to the water level monitored in the observation water wells. The obtained correlations can be used as an alternative for drilling of new observation wells that are inefficient in time and expense, and may encounter environmental limitations of drilling and site construction.

The Imlay channel in Lapeer County, Michigan was one of two outlets for the glacial Lake Maumee phase of ancestral Lake Erie. Fifteen new radiocarbon and optical ages from within and adjacent to the Imlay channel constrain sedimentation rates within the channel and the timing of regional deglaciation. For nearly 50 years the deglaciation of this region of Michigan has been based on a single age from the Weaver Drain site located near the Imlay channel, and a new radiocarbon age of 16.7–17.0 cal ka BP from 3 km east of the Imlay channel supports this long-standing deglacial age. On average there is a 14 m thick sediment fill within the channel. Radiocarbon and OSL ages reveal that much of the alluvial fill was deposited by 14.9 ka, and alluvial fans building into the channel stabilized in the early Holocene. Cross-sections along and perpendicular to the Imlay channel, built from geotechnical borings and water-well records, reveal a current-day bedrock sill elevation at 235 masl that would have permitted drainage of all stages of glacial Lake Maumee in the past.

Abstract Automatic Ultrafiltration Portable is used to produce clean and ready-to-consume water from a water source in peatlands. Water is one of the factors that really supports the community, including the process of cooking, bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK). The villagers of Jambu Burung and Jambu Raya at the new lucky sub-district use rainwater as drinking water and river water and pond water (well) to meet their daily needs, one of which is in the consumption sector. However, the water in the river that is used by the community is cloudy and smelly, so it is dangerous to health if it is continuously consumed by humans. The quality of clean water is very influential on the results of the quality of human life. The use of river and well water by the guava and guava community has been going on for years, so it is estimated that there are no other alternatives to get proper clean water. So, Automatic Ultrafiltration Portable is one solution to solve this problem. This tool is made based on the need for a portable tool because the size is 40x80x30 cm, practical, and economical, but has good performance (discharge 1 - 5 liters / minute) and can be increased. . This tool is equipped with solar sell and an automatic control system that is not owned by similar equipment. The use of solar sell by utilizing the abundance of solar power and minimizing public expenditure without any electricity bills. The water-well recovered from a Late Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB) level in Tell Seker al-Aheimar, Northeast Syria, represents the oldest well thus far known in Upper Mesopotamia. It demonstrates that the construction of water-wells was a wide-spread practice among the PPNB communities across Cyprus, the Mediterranean coast, and now a far inland region of Upper Mesopotamia. This article provides detailed data on the water-well’s excavation and its stratigraphy, morphology, spatial positioning in the settlement, dating, and associated artefacts. An important implication of these data is that the construction and use of this well involved community activities that may have included rituals. Further, its location close to the Khabur River suggests that the well was not constructed to merely obtain fresh water; its major purpose could have been to guarantee the procurement of non-polluted water as this was an increasing concern among the developing Neolithic villages. On the whole, the water-well of Tell Seker al-Aheimar gives us important insights that develop our understanding of the Neolithisation processes of the region, notably the ‘domestication of water’.

Relevance and purpose of the work. Surface sources of clean water are increasingly depleted. In this regard, the role of underground sources of drinking and domestic water supply is increasing. Geophysical exploration methods can be an e ective tool for fnding groundwater. The tasks of the research included determining the possibilities of magnetic prospecting in the areal search for promising zones, and identifying the features of electromagnetic fields during audiomagnetotelluric and magnetovariational soundings in the area of an operating water well. Methodology. The magnetic field was surveyed with an MMP-203 proton magnetometer (Geologorazvedka plant, Leningrad). Electrical exploration included vertical electrical sounding (VES) with ERA equipment (GNPP Geologorazvedka, St. Petersburg) and recording of audio magnetotelluric fields with OMAR-2 equipment (IGF UB RAS, Ekaterinburg). Results. The result of the magnetic survey was a map of the anomalous magnetic field of the study area, where the water-abundant groundwater zone of the weathering crust can be distinguished by structural features. The zones of tectonic faults, promising for the presence of fractured-vein waters, are confedently distinguished by positive linear anomalies of the magnetic field. The characteristic features of electromagnetic fields during audiomagnetotelluric and magnetovariational soundings in the area of distribution of fractured waters have been clarified. The most revealing behavior is the behavior of the real and imaginary quadratures of the magnetovariational tipper, characterized by minimum values and zero crossing, respectively. According to the results of electromagnetic sounding, an increase in the thickness of the weathering crust with a decrease in resistance is recorded in the area of the water intake well, which is evidence of its water cut. Conclusions. The significance of magnetic prospecting for clarifying the structural and geological structure of the territory when searching for water-saturated zones has been determined. The high e£ciency of electromagnetic soundings on direct and alternating current was confirmed to determine the nature, depth and power of the identiŽed structures. Traditionally studied, in the search and exploration of groundwater, geophysical felds are replenished with new electromagnetic parameters. These include the module and quadratures of the audio range magnetovariational tipper. The research results indicate that these parameters are anomalous in relation to aquifers, which allows us to give reasonable recommendations on the location of drilling production wells.
