Aims: To detect the health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) of Thyroid cancer (TC) patients and analyze the change tendency of TC patient’s reported symptoms after surgery. Methods: A total of 102 TC patients who underwent thyroid surgery from September 2020 to January 2021 were enrolled in this study, and received a survey on HRQoL (EORTC QLQ-C30) and disease-specific symptoms (THYCA-QoL) at 1 month and 3 months after surgery. Results: Almost all the patients experienced TC specific symptoms after surgery. At 1 month after surgery, throat/mouth problems, voice problems, neuromuscular problems, concentration problems, and less interest in sex were the top 5 reported complains. But at 3 months after surgery, less interest in sex was the top 1 reported complain, followed by throat/mouth problems, voice problems, psychological problems, neuromuscular problems and concentration problems. Meanwhile, the scores of most specific symptoms were decreased with the increase of postoperative time, while scores of less interest in sex were increased. Fatigue, insomnia and dyspnea were the most often reported common cancer-related symptoms for TC patients at 1 and 3 months after surgery. Interestingly, the scores of fatigue measured at 3 months after surgery were much lower than those measured at 1 month after surgery. Conclusions: Throat/mouth problems, voice problems, neuromuscular problems, concentration problems, less interest in sex and fatigue are the important patient reported complains that we should pay more attention after surgery.

Biogenic amines (BAs) are organic compounds with low molecular weight and can be used as indicators of the quality and safety of canned aquatic products during processing and storage. However, the excess of these amines can cause food-borne poisoning. Therefore, the determination, analysis and prevention of biogenic amines are of great importance. This article focuses on the sources, formation, pretreatment methods, as well as the analytical techniques, change tendency and control techniques of biogenic amines, with the aim of promoting more appropriate analysis of canned aquatic products to provide a reference for the food industries.

Abstract Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe the age change tendency of trauma patients and to test the accuracy of different scoring tools in prediction of in-hospital mortality in case of geriatric trauma. Methods: Annual reports released by the National Trauma Database (NTDB) in the United States from 2005 to 2015 and the Trauma Register DGU® in German from 1994 to 2012 were used to describe the age change tendency of trauma patients. Secondary analysis of a single-center cohort study conducted among 311 severely injured geriatric trauma patients in a level Ⅰ trauma center in Switzerland was completed. According to the in-hospital survival status, patients were divided into survival group and non-survival group. Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC) analysis was used to evaluated the predictive performance of the ISS (injury severity score); NISS (new injury severity score), APACHE Ⅱ (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ), SPAS Ⅱ (simplified acute physiology score Ⅱ) and TRISS (Trauma and Injury Severity Score) in prediction of in-hospital mortality among geriatric trauma patients. Results: The analysis of the NTDB showed the proportion of geriatric trauma increased from 18% to 30% from 2005 to 2015. The analysis of the DGU® showed the mean age of trauma patients rose from 39.11 in 1993 to 51.10 in 2013, and the proportion of patients aged ≥60 rose from 16.5% to 37.5%. The secondary analysis indicated one hundred and sixty-four (52.73%) patients died in the hospital. The ISS, NISS, APACHE Ⅱ, and SAPS Ⅱ in the death group were significantly higher than those in the survival group, and the TRISS in the death group was significantly lower than those in the survival group. The AUC of the ISS, NISS, TRISS, APACHE Ⅱ, and SAPS Ⅱ was 0.807, 0.850, 0.828, 0.715 and 0.725, respectively. Conclusion: The total number of geriatric trauma is increasing as the population ages. The accuracy of ISS, NISS and TRISS was higher than the accuracy of the APACHE Ⅱ and SAPS Ⅱ to predict in-hospital mortality in case of geriatric trauma.

AbstractA new principle of UHVDC Line pilot protection based on internal parameters of the trigger angle of converter is proposed, in order to improve the ability of the protection to withstand transition resistance. Through the analysis of UHVDC control system, it is found that, due to the regulation of control system, in terms of trigger delay angle of rectifier side and trigger leading angle of inverter side, the change tendency in internal fault and external fault is different. Thus, the protection criterion is constructed. Compared with the traditional protection principle using voltage and current to establish protection criteria, this principle uses internal parameters as protection quantity. The simulation based on PSCAD/EMTDC verifies the effectiveness of the protection principle.

Physiological changes in humans are evident under environmental conditions similar to those on a Mars mission involving both a space factor (long-term isolation) and a time factor (the Mars solar day). However, very few studies have investigated the response of the liver to those conditions. Serum protein levels, bilirubin levels, aminotransferase activities, blood alkaline phosphatase, gamma-glutamyltransferase, lipid levels, and serum cytokines interleukin-6 and interferon-γ levels were analyzed 30 days before the mock mission; on days 2, 30, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 150, and 175 of the mission; and 30 days after the mission, in four subjects in 4-person 180-day Controlled Ecological Life Support System Experiment. Serum protein levels (total protein and globulin) decreased and bilirubin increased under the isolation environment from day 2 and exhibited chronic acclimatization from days 30 to 175. Effects of the Mars solar day were evident on day 75. Blood lipid levels were somewhat affected. No obvious peak in any enzyme level was detected during the mission. The change tendency of these results indicated that future studies should explore whether protein parameters especially globulin could serve as indicators of immunological function exposure to the stress of a Mars mission.

A new enzymatic biosensor worn on eyeglasses has been developed for low-noise and noninvasive determination of lactate in human sweat during physical exercise. The Os (osmium)-complex, the electron mediator between the enzyme and the electrode, was first immobilized on a flexibly printed carbon electrode. Then, a gel membrane with the stereoscopic reticular structure of lactate oxidase and horseradish peroxidase was casted on the electrode to form the biosensor. Linearity of the biosensor was observed for up to 25 mM lactate in a phosphate buffered solution of pH 7.0. Chemical selectivity was evaluated by adding common interferent species such as ascorbic acid, glucose and uric acid to the lactate. The negligible current interference indicated excellent discriminatory selectivity of the biosensor. Applied to an analysis of the real sweat lactate dynamics of healthy subjects during cycling exercise, the amperometric profiles of the biosensors reflected changes in sweat lactate that depended on physical exercise intensity. Compared with other reported epidermal biosensors attached to the arm or leg, our biosensor not only exhibited a similar current change tendency but also rarely suffered from deformational interference due to their forehead measurement position. Such a successful application of real-time monitoring of sweat lactate means that eyeglass-bound biosensors hold considerable promise in the physical exercise and biomedical fields.

Abstract Background Successful sexual reproduction in flowering plant requires extensive communications between male and female organs and tissues. Although RLKs have been proved to play critical roles in these communications, so far the identified RLKs are still limited. Here we performed a comprehensive analysis on differentially expressed RLKs in responding to pollination in Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica napus to contibute to further analysis on RLKs’ function in male-female communication. Result In this study, a total of 2,583 B. napus AtRLK orthologs were obtained. 89 AtRLKs showed obvious expression level changes after pollination in A. thaliana or in B. napus. Although 30 differentially expressed AtRLKs were opened anthers and anthers of mature flower before opening preferentially expressed or hydrated pollen-enriched, up to 79 AtRLKs corresponding to 129 B. napus orthologs showed obvious expression level changes at different time points after pollination. Among 89 differentially expressed AtRLKs after pollination, only 7 AtRLKs were shared by differently expressed genes during in vitro pollen tube growth, 3 of 7 AtRLKs’ expression level change tendency after pollination and during PTG were different. Conclusions Amount to 89 AtRLKs were differentially expressed in responding to pollination in A. thaliana and B. napus, and their expression level changes should be mainly induced by pollen-stigma interaction, several of them had been proved to function in male-female communication in the former reports.
