Health anxiety is a disorder that can be very distressful and cause unnecessary examinations. A doctor is expected to handle health anxiety in terms of examination, diagnosis, therapy, and counselling processes. To provide optimal patient counselling, a doctor needs confidence, empathy, and good mental health. However, the process to become a medical doctor requires a student to read through a large amount of medical information, which arguably might induce “medical student's syndrome,” or health anxiety. Contradicting research findings exist about such conditions, however, most of them use traditional measures of health anxiety and do not consider students' online behaviour. The authors hypothesized that a medical student is susceptible to cyberchondria, a form of health anxiety due to excessive internet use. Some studies have shown that there may be higher cyberchondria scores among medical students compared to the general population. Cyberchondria needs to be studied further to improve the mental health condition of medical students and to provide optimal future healthcare for patients.

Radioligand theranostics (RT) in oncology use cancer-type specific biomarkers and molecular imaging (MI), including positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and planar scintigraphy, for patient diagnosis, therapy, and personalized management. While the definition of theranostics was initially restricted to a single compound allowing visualization and therapy simultaneously, the concept has been widened with the development of theranostic pairs and the combination of nuclear medicine with different types of cancer therapies. Here, we review the clinical applications of different theranostic radiopharmaceuticals in managing different tumor types (differentiated thyroid, neuroendocrine prostate, and breast cancer) that support the combination of innovative oncological therapies such as gene and cell-based therapies with RT.

Cervical partial hydatidiform mole is a rare condition and difficult to diagnose. A 39-year-old Balinese woman from Sanglah General Hospital, Bali, Indonesia complained vaginal bleeding with abdominal pain. The patient was diagnosed with a partial hydatidiform mole based on physical examination, ultrasound, beta HCG levels and pathology examinations. Mass evacuation surgery followed by arterial ligation to stop the bleeding and periodically examination of beta HCG levels was carried out until the 14th week after the procedure. Beta HCG decreased gradually to normal level and indicate no risk of trophoblastic malignancy. Establishing the early diagnosis significantly affects the outcome of patient. : Cells, regarded as the structural and functional units of organisms, have become one of the most important objects in many research areas. Specific recognition and detection of malignant cells are critical for disease diagnosis, therapy and prognosis. Aptamers are short; single-stranded oligonucleotides screened from a random library by an in vitro technology termed “Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment” (SELEX) on the basis of their specific binding to target cargos. With the advantages of small size, easy synthesis, convenient modification, high chemical stability and low immunogenicity, aptamers have attracted broad attention in bioanalysis. Using intact living cells as the selection target, the cell-SELEX technology enables the generation of many aptamers that can specifically recognize molecular signatures of target cells. These aptamers have been extensively utilized in various cell-based research. In this mini-review, we focus on recent advances in aptamer-based recognition and detection of cells, particularly circulating tumor cells (CTCs).

For biomedical imaging, the interest in noninvasive imaging methods is ever increasing. Among many modalities, photoacoustic imaging (PAI), which is a combination of optical and ultrasound imaging techniques, has received attention because of its unique advantages such as high spatial resolution, deep penetration, and safety. Incorporation of exogenous imaging agents further amplifies the effective value of PAI, since they can deliver other specified functions in addition to imaging. For these agents, carbon-based materials can show a large specific surface area and interesting optoelectronic properties, which increase their effectiveness and have proved their potential in providing a theragnostic platform (diagnosis + therapy) that is essential for clinical use. In this review, we introduce the current state of the PAI modality, address recent progress on PAI imaging that takes advantage of carbon-based agents, and offer a future perspective on advanced PAI systems using carbon-based agents.
