Video streaming is widely available nowadays. Moreover, since the pandemic hit all across the globe, many people stayed home and used streaming services for news, education,  and entertainment. However,   when streaming in session, user Quality of Experience (QoE) is unsatisfied with the video content selection while streaming on smartphone devices. Users are often irritated by unpredictable video quality format displays on their smartphone devices. In this paper, we proposed a framework video selection scheme that targets to increase QoE user satisfaction. We used a video content selection algorithm to map the video selection that satisfies the user the most regarding streaming quality. Video Content Selection (VCS) are classified into video attributes groups. The level of VCS streaming will gradually decrease to consider the least video selection that users will not accept depending on video quality. To evaluate the satisfaction level, we used the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) to measure the adaptability of user acceptance towards video streaming quality. The final results show that the proposed algorithm shows that the user satisfies the video selection, by altering the video attributes.

Video applications consume more energy on the Internet and can be accessed by electronic devices, due to an increase in the consumption of high-resolution and high-quality video content, presenting serious issues to delivery infrastructure that needs higher video compression technologies. The focus of this paper is to evaluate the quality of the most current codec, AV1, to its predecessor codec. The comparison was made experimentally at two video resolutions (1080p and 720p) by sampling video frames with various CRF/CQP values and testing several parameters analyses such as encoding duration, compression ratio, bit rate, Mean Square Error (MSE), and Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). The AV1 codec is very great in terms of quality and file size, even though it is slower in terms of compression speed. The H.265/HEVC codec, on the other side, beats the other codec in terms of compression ratio. In conclusion, the H.265/HEVC codec is suggested as a material for obtaining a well compressed video with small file size and a short time.

Introduction. Educational resources for medical students are not limited to traditional resources available in the university electronic environment of (subscribed or created at the university). Studies of the usage statistics of the university information-educational environment cannot give a reliable answer to the question of what resources students use. The study analyzes the survey data on the use of publicly available and commercial educational services along with the university resources. In result, we determine how the structure of the information and educational environment of the university meets the identified needs of students.Methods. In April 2021, we conducted an online survey of 1,765 students from 10 medical universities. Respondents were proposed to indicate the frequency with which they use different educational resources. We compare the 2021 results with the data of the 2020 survey using the methods of statistical analysis. Comparison of the use of the same type of university resources, publicly available and purchased are performed. The risks of the use of information resources of the university are assessed. Relationships between the use of different resources have been determined. Clusters of respondents demonstrating similar informational behavior are identified.Results. No significant changes in the frequency of use of information resources have been registered since 2020. Students prefer to use free resources regardless of their source. Frequent viewing of teachers’ online lectures reduces interest in face-to-face lectures, and frequent use of paid video resources or mobile applications reduces interest in the university resources as a whole. Close links have been found between the use of different commercial resources. 42.3 % of students prefer the university-created resources, whereas 38.6 % of students are focused at the publicly available resources and 19.1 % prefer technological resources from any source.Conclusion. The information resources of the university compete for the attention of students with a huge number of third-party resources. High-quality video content can significantly increase the use of university resources. An expert assessment of popular medical resources and an increase in students’ awareness of the quality of these resources is needed.

By leveraging the development of mobile communication technologies and due to the increased capabilities of mobile devices, mobile multimedia services have gained prominence for supporting high-quality video streaming services. In vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs), high-quality video streaming services are focused on providing safety and infotainment applications to vehicles on the roads. Video streaming data require elastic and continuous video packet distributions to vehicles to present interactive real-time views of meaningful scenarios on the road. However, the high mobility of vehicles is one of the fundamental and important challenging issues for video streaming services in VANETs. Nevertheless, previous studies neither dealt with suitable data caching for supporting the mobility of vehicles nor provided appropriate seamless packet forwarding for ensuring the quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) of real-time video streaming services. To address this problem, this paper proposes a video packet distribution scheme named Clone, which integrates vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications to disseminate video packets for video streaming services in VANETs. First, an indicator called current network quality information (CNQI) is defined to measure the feature of data forwarding of each node to its neighbor nodes in terms of data delivery ratio and delay. Based on the CNQI value of each node and the trajectory of the destination vehicle, access points called clones are selected to cache video data packets from data sources. Subsequently, packet distribution optimization is conducted to determine the number of video packets to cache in each clone. Finally, data delivery synchronization is established to support seamless streaming data delivery from a clone to the destination vehicle. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme achieves high-quality video streaming services in terms of QoS and QoE compared with existing schemes.

Video synthetic aperture radar (ViSAR) can provide long-time surveillance of a region of interest (ROI), which is one of the hotspot directions in the SAR field. In order to better display ViSAR, a high resolution and high frame rate are needed. Azimuth integration angle and sub-aperture overlapping ratio, which determine the image resolution and frame rate, respectively, are analyzed in depth in this paper. For SAR imaging algorithm, polar format algorithm (PFA) is applied, which not only has high efficiency but is also easier to integrate with autofocus algorithms. Due to sensitivity to motion error, it is very difficult to obtain satisfactory focus quality, especially for SAR systems with a high carrier frequency. The three-step motion compensation (MOCO) proposed in this paper, which combines GPS-based MOCO, map-drift (MD) and phase gradient autofocus (PGA), can effectively compensate for motion error, especially for short wavelengths. In ViSAR, problems such as jitter, non-uniform grey scale and low image signal noise ratio (SNR) between different aspects images also need to be considered, so a ViSAR generation method is proposed to solve the above problems. Finally, the results of ViSAR in THz and Ku band demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.

Researchers can usefully produce a spectrum of videos, from simple ones created with a smartphone, to professional-quality video news releases. To be effective, technical videos should be brief, often including links to further information. They should still, however, adhere to high production standards. News videos also have specific length and technical requirements, whether a finished video news release or B roll. Video releases should observe ethical requirements to avoid the appearance of being infomercials. Lecture videos should only be considered if they offer more than a talking head but include engaging and informative visuals. Field research makes a useful subject for both lay and technical videos. All videos should observe basic principles of production quality, planning, scripting, shooting, and editing. Videos can also be syndicated widely to numerous free websites.

Background The Shared Decision Making (SDM) Process scale is a brief, patient-reported measure of SDM with demonstrated validity in surgical decision making studies. Herein we examine the validity of the scores in assessing SDM for cancer screening and medication decisions through standardized videos of good-quality and poor-quality SDM consultations. Method An online sample was randomized to a clinical decision—colon cancer screening or high cholesterol—and a viewing order—good-quality video first or poor-quality video first. Participants watched both videos, completing a survey after each video. Surveys included the SDM Process scale and the 9-item SDM Questionnaire (SDM-Q-9); higher scores indicated greater SDM. Multilevel linear regressions identified if video, order, or their interaction predicted SDM Process scores. To identify how the SDM Process score classified videos, area under the curve (AUC) was calculated. The correlation between SDM Process score and SDM-Q-9 assessed construct validity. Heterogeneity analyses were conducted. Results In the sample of 388 participants (68% white, 70% female, average age 45 years) good-quality videos received higher SDM Process scores than poor-quality videos ( Ps < 0.001), and those who viewed the good-quality high cholesterol video first tended to rate the videos higher. SDM Process scores were related to SDM-Q-9 scores ( rs > 0.58; Ps < 0.001). AUC was poor (0.69) for the high cholesterol model and fair (0.79) for the colorectal cancer model. Heterogeneity analyses suggested individual differences were predictive of SDM Process scores. Conclusion SDM Process scores showed good evidence of validity in a hypothetical scenario but were lacking in ability to classify good-quality or poor-quality videos accurately. Considerable heterogeneity of scoring existed, suggesting that individual differences played a role in evaluating good- or poor-quality SDM conversations.

Diagnosis and treatment for Parkinson's disease rely on the evaluation of motor functions, which is expensive and time consuming when performing at clinics. It is also difficult for patients to record correct movements at home without the guidance from experienced physicians. To help patients with Parkinson’s disease get better evaluation from in-home recorded movement videos, we developed an interactive video acquisition and learning system for clinical motor assessments. The system provides real-time guidance with multi-level body keypoint tracking and analysis to patients, which guarantees correct understanding and performing of clinical tasks. We tested its effectiveness on healthy subjects, and the efficiency and usability on patient groups. Experiments showed that our system enabled high quality video recordings following clinical standards, benefiting both patients and physicians. Our system provides a novel learning-based telemedicine approach for the care of patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Finding a proper balance between video quality and the required bandwidth is an important issue, especially in networks of limited capacity. The problem of comparing the efficiency of video codecs and choosing the most suitable one in a specific situation has become very important. This paper proposes a method of comparing video codecs while also taking into account objective quality assessment metrics. The author shows the process of preparing video footage, assessing its quality, determining the rate–distortion curves, and calculating the bitrate saving for pairs of examined codecs. Thanks to the use of the spline interpolation method, the obtained results are better than those previously presented in the literature, and more resistant to the quality metric used.

The rise of short videos in the Post-epidemic era have caused the migration of Internet traffic to visual content. This new form of media based on communication technology and algorithm technology can arouse more emotional resonances of audiences, which promotes the formation of a Visual Public opinion field. The emergence of this public opinion field not only increases the risk of public opinion crises such as rumors and extreme views, but also points out the current direction of public opinion governance, and shows the importance of making good use of visual communication methods. Based on this, mainstream media needs to integrate and lead the visual public opinion field by entering the video media platform, producing high-quality video content, and reconstructing the visual public opinion ecology; the competent authority should do a good job in the visual public opinion field from the three aspects of ideology, technology and content. Supervision and governance work will promote a good long-term growth of visual public opinion field.
