Abstract -Purpose: The adaptability of blue-spotted mudskipper (Boleophthalmus Periophthalmodon; BP) and giant-fin mudskipper (Periophthalmus magnuspinnatus; PM), has been previously reported at the genome level to explain their amphibious life. However, the roles of GI microbiota in their adaptation to the terrestrial life are worth exploring. -Methods: In this study, we mainly utilized metagenomic data from these two representative mudskippers and typical aquicolous fish species to obtain microbial composition, diversity, abundance and potential functions of GI microbiota for comparisons between amphibious and aquicolous fishes. Meanwhile, we summarized the GI microbiota results of representative seawater fishes, freshwater fishes, amphibians, and terrestrial animals by literature mining for comparing those of the mudskippers. -Result: Interestingly the content for each dominant phylum was strikingly different among BP, PM and aquicolous fishes. We also observed that the profile of GI microbiota in mudskippers owned the typical bacterial families for the terrestrial animals, (freshwater and seawater) fishes, and amphibians at the same time, which is consistent with their life style of water-to-land and freshwater to seawater transition. More interestingly, certain bacteria strains like S24-7, previously thought to be specific in terrestrial animals, were also identified in both BP and PM. -Conclusion: The various composite and diversity of mudskipper GI microflora are therefore considered to conduce to their terrestrial adaptation in these amphibious fishes.

Plant microbiota that associate with pioneer plants are essential to their growth and adaptation to harsh conditions found in the Central Volcanic Zone of the Andes. In this sense, the rhizosphere of pioneer species represents a unique opportunity to examine how bacterial communities are recruited and support the growth of plants under abiotic stress conditions, such low nutrient availability, high solar irradiation, water scarcity, soil salinity, etc. In this study, we explored the community composition and potential functions of rhizobacteria obtained from specimens of Parastrephia quadrangularis (Meyen) Cabrera, commonly called Tola, grown on the slopes of the Guallatiri, Isluga, and Lascar volcanoes in the Atacama Desert of Chile by using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Sequence analysis showed that the Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, and Bacteroidetes were the most abundant phyla of the rhizobacterial communities examined. A similar diversity, richness, and abundance of OTUs were also observed in rhizosphere samples obtained from different plants. However, most of OTUs were not shared, suggesting that each plant recruits a specific rhizobacterial communities independently of volcanoes slope. Analyses of predicted functional activity indicated that the functions were mostly attributed to chemoheterotrophy and aerobic chemoheterotrophy, followed by nitrogen cycling (nitrate reduction and denitrification), and animal parasites or symbionts. In addition, co-occurrence analysis revealed that complex rhizobacterial interactions occur in P. quadrangularis rhizosphere and that members of the Patulibacteraceae comprise a keystone taxon. This study extends our understanding on the composition and functions of the rhizobiome, which is pivotal for the adaptability and colonization of pioneer plant to harsh conditions of the Atacama Desert, widely recognized as the driest place on planet Earth.

Abstract A unification in terms of exact solutions for massless Klein–Gordon, Dirac, Maxwell, Rarita– Schwinger, Einstein, and bosonic and fermionic fields of any spin is presented. The method is based on writing all of the relevant dynamical fields in terms of products and derivatives of pre–potential functions, which satisfy d’Alambert equation. The coupled equations satisfied by the pre–potentials are non-linear. Remarkably, there are particular solutions of (gradient) orthogonal pre–potentials that satisfy the usual wave equation which may be used to construct exact non–trivial solutions to Klein–Gordon, Dirac, Maxwell, Rarita–Schwinger, (linearized and full) Einstein and any spin bosonic and fermionic field equations, thus giving rise to an unification of the solutions of all massless field equations for any spin. Some solutions written in terms of orthogonal pre–potentials are presented. Relations of this method to previously developed ones, as well as to other subjects in physics are pointed out.

Background Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most prevalent tumor in lung carcinoma cases and threatens human life seriously worldwide. Here we attempt to identify a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for LUAD patients. Methods Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) shared by GSE18842, GSE75037, GSE101929 and GSE19188 profiles were determined and used for protein-protein interaction analysis, enrichment analysis and clinical correlation analysis to search for the core gene, whose expression was further validated in multiple databases and LUAD cells (A549 and PC-9) by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot analyses. Its prognostic value was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method, meta-analysis and Cox regression analysis based on the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset and co-expression analysis was conducted using the Oncomine database. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) was performed to illuminate the potential functions of the core gene. Results A total of 115 shared DEGs were found, of which 24 DEGs were identified as candidate hub genes with potential functions associated with cell cycle and FOXM1 transcription factor network. Among these candidates, HMMR was identified as the core gene, which was highly expressed in LUAD as verified by multiple datasets and cell samples. Besides, high HMMR expression was found to independently predict poor survival in patients with LUAD. Co-expression analysis showed that HMMR was closely related to FOXM1 and was mainly involved in cell cycle as suggested by GSEA. Conclusion HMMR might be served as an independent prognostic biomarker for LUAD patients, which needs further validation in subsequent studies.

Background: Dysregulated expression of TRIB3 and FABP1 have been previously observed in human cancer tissues. However, there are little information as to their expression change in dynamic gastric diseases and the functional roles.Methods: Tissues from a total of 479 patients, including 89 GS, 102 IM-GA, 144 EGC, and 144 AGC were collected. The protein expressions of TRIB3 and FABP1 were detected by immunohistochemical staining. Meanwhile, the potential functions of TRIB3 and FABP1 in GC were further analyzed by R software and some internet public databases, such as TCGA and DAVID.Results: During this multi-stage process that go through GS to EGC, the expression trend of TRIB3 and FABP1 protein was GS > IM-GA > EGC. Besides, the expression of TRIB3 protein continued to decrease in AGC, while the expression of FABP1 was abnormally increased. Hp infection was significantly associated with the decreased expression of TRIB3 and FABP1. In addition, the diagnostic efficiency of the combination of these two indicators to diagnose EGC was higher than that of a single indicator. Survival analysis showed that higher expression of TRIB3 or FABP1 could indicate a better prognosis of GC. The protein expressions of TRIB3 and FABP1 were significantly positively correlated. Moreover, CEACAM5 and PRAP1 were positively correlated with both TRIB3 and FABP1 expressions, while GABRP and THBS4 were negatively correlated. The macrophages M0 infiltration was positively correlated with both TRIB3 and FABP1 expressions.Conclusion: The protein expressions of TRIB3 and FABP1 gradually decreased with the gastric disease progress, and was positively correlated. Hp infection may reduce the protein expression of TRIB3 and FABP1. Combing TRIB3 and FABP1 expressions can improve the diagnostic efficiency for EGC. Either a high expression of TRIB3 or FABP1 indicates a better prognosis for GC. TRIB3 and FABP1 may interact with CEACAM5, PRAP1, GABRP and THBS4, and affect tumor immune microenvironment by regulating immune cells, and participate in the development and progression of GC.

This volume, emerging from a conference, brings into conversation research on the two title-words autofiction and utopia. It focuses on what the introduction defines as the point of convergence of these genres or writing modes: the desire to shape reality according to one’s individual vision, which, the editors note, can serve as critical commentary on society (1). In exploring this intersection, the volume takes up an important strand in the discussion on autofiction, namely the one about its potential functions both for individual authors and for society more broadly. Autofiction has been argued to not only allow individuals to express and transform themselves, but also to, for example, empower author and readers with narrative agency by challenging dominant cultural narrative models (Meretoja 2021) and work towards post-conflict reconciliation (Dix 2021).
