Islamic work ethic (IWE) has been on the rise in the last 10 years and started to attract the attention of researchers. This study examines the development of IWE studies. In this direction, studies with the theme of Islamic work ethic were determined by examining the studies published in the Web of Science database. How IWE research has changed and developed was interpreted by the content analysis method. For that purpose, scientific publications were analyzed in terms of publication year, type of study, research design, sample type, sample size, data collection method, country where the study was carried out, variable types, antecedents and consequences of the IWE by descriptive review model When past studies were examined, it was seen that there was no study examining the literature on IWE in the context of content analysis. This study aims to fill this gap in the literature, to evaluate the situation of the IWE phenomenon in the literature, and to reveal which variables it is associated with.

AbstractGiven how hard it is to recruit good reviewers who are aligned with authors in their functions, journal editors could consider the use of better incentives, such as paying reviewers for their time. In order to facilitate a speedy turn-around when a rapid decision is required, the peer-reviewed journal can also offer a review model in which selected peer reviewers are compensated to deliver high-quality and timely peer-review reports. In this paper, we consider a peer-reviewed journal in which the manuscript’s evaluation consists of a necessary peer review component and an optional speedy peer review component. We model and study that journal under two different scenarios to be compared: a paid peer-reviewing scenario that is considered as the benchmark; and a hybrid peer-review scenario where the manuscript’s author can decide whether to pay or not. In the benchmark scenario of paid peer-reviewing, the scholarly journal expects all authors to pay for the peer review and charges separately for the necessary and the optional speedy peer-review components. Alternatively, in a hybrid peer-review scenario, the peer-reviewed journal gives the option to the authors to not pay for the necessary peer review if they are not able to pay. This will determine an altruistic amplification of pay utility. However, the no-pay authors cannot avail of the optional speedy peer review, which determines a restriction-induced no-pay utility reduction. In this paper, we find that under the hybrid setting of compensated peer review where the author can decide whether to pay or not, the optimal price and review quality of the optional speedy peer review are always higher than under the benchmark scenario of paid peer-reviewing, due to the altruistic amplification of pay utility. Our results show that when the advantage of adopting the hybrid mode of compensated peer review is higher due to the higher difference between the altruistic author utility amplification and the restriction-induced no-pay utility reduction, the journal can increase its profitability by increasing the price for the necessary peer review above that in the benchmark scenario of paid peer review. A key insight from our results is the journal’s capability to increase the number of paying authors by giving the option to the authors to not pay for the necessary peer review if they are not able to pay.

The development of information technology has become a necessity for every company, one of which is the optimization of inventory planning. The joint warehouse owned by the Chickenpedia Restaurant which has to supply various types of raw materials to the three restaurant branches often experiences stock outs and has to make emergency orders resulting in losses. For this reason, it is necessary to control the inventory of raw materials in the shared warehouse so that stock outs can be overcome and losses that arise can be minimized. One of them is by using the Continuous Review method. By using this method, the optimal order quantity and reorder point will be obtained. The weakness is iterative calculation and monitoring of raw material stock manually. For this reason, it is necessary to support an information system to speed up and make it easier to calculate when to place an order and how many orders of raw materials to suppliers so as to reduce the occurrence of running out of raw materials. The Information System can also monitor the stock of raw materials every day in real time based on the number of incoming and outgoing goods that enter the application.

Introduction: Respiratory disease (COVID-19) caused by the new coronavirus (SARSCoV-2) has spread around the world causing respiratory illnesses and deaths. The COVID-19 pandemic caused an unprecedented crisis in the field of education. It is essential to reflect on the role of educational systems in curricular training, especially for doctors. Objective: The present study prepared a systematic review to analyze the main curriculum changes in medical education institutions around the world. Methods: The present study followed a systematic review model (PRISMA). The search strategy was performed in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Scopus, and Google Scholar database, using scientific articles from 2009 to 2021. Results: As a corollary of the literary search system, 155 studies were analyzed and submitted to eligibility analysis, and then 55 high to moderate quality studies were selected. Biases did not compromise the scientific basis of the studies. It was analyzed that it is crucial that the academic education community learn from experience and prioritize a forward-thinking academic approach as practical solutions are implemented. The pandemic has brought about a lasting transformation in medicine with the advancement of telehealth, adaptive research protocols, and clinical trials with flexible approaches to achieving solutions. The studies analyzed in general did not address criticisms about the weaknesses of remote education, limiting themselves to defending it as the only viable strategy. There was no consensus on the inclusion of students in the practical activities of curricular internships and medical internships. A part of the studies defends the inclusion in hospital spaces as a way to contribute to overcoming the health crisis imposed by the pandemic. The studies evidenced the inclusion of pandemic management disciplines with a focus on public health in the medical curricula. Conclusion: The medical activity and curriculum underwent and are undergoing significant changes and adaptations. Thus, the doctor will need to develop other skills, without losing the traditional ones. The highlight is telehealth and soft skills, as they will allow students to connect to the best in world medicine, highlighting the importance of scientific knowledge when establishing treatments in cases of pandemics with a focus on public health.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic is a global health crisis and the dissemination of COVID-19 has presented significant challenges for dentistry. The risk of nosocomial transmission meant that routine dental care was temporarily suspended in several countries. In this sense, several measures have been proposed by national and international guidelines to minimize the risk of infection. Thus, dental care during the pandemic is challenging due to the high risk of infection. Objective: The present study performed a concise systematic review of dental implants in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, to highlight the main challenges and guideline-based safety strategies. Methods: This was followed by a systematic literature review model, according to the PRISMA rules. The research was carried out from July 2021 to October 2021 and developed based on Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, Scielo, and Cochrane Library. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument. The risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results and Conclusion: After the selectivity of articles and literary findings, 127 studies were analyzed, with only 15 medium and high-quality studies selected, according to GRADE rules, and with risks of bias that do not compromise scientific development, based on the Cochrane instrument. To help protect patients from acquiring COVID-19 from a dental office nosocomial infection, many state or local governments have classified dental treatments as non-essential. Dentists were instructed to perform only procedures designated as emergencies. In this sense, dentistry is making great strides in improving oral health through the prevention of dental diseases, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The detected relationship between the stage of dental damage and the severity and prognosis of viral disease was considered significant.

Introduction: In the endodontic treatment scenario, despite the emergence of techniques and instruments that facilitate the treatment, there are still cases that require retreatment of the treated root canals. Non-surgical endodontic retreatment (NSER) can be performed in one or several visits. Endodontic pain has been the main reason for patient consultations after therapy and affects patient comfort. A condition for successful endodontic retreatment is proper cleaning of the root canals, therefore, special attention must be given to the technique used to remove the filling material, with the most commonly used cement, pastes, and gutta-percha cones. Objective: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the main protocols and techniques for endodontic retreatment. Methods: The present study was followed by a systematic literature review model. Clinical studies were included as case reports, retrospective, prospective and randomized trials with qualitative and/or quantitative analysis. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument. The risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results and Conclusion: The results showed that cleaning and the presence of debris at a speed of 1500 rpm provided greater agility with a smaller number of fractured instruments. Furthermore, the dynamic navigation system enabled the minimally invasive removal of the fiber post with a high degree of precision, without unnecessary removal of the root structure. One visit NSER had lower postoperative pain than multiple visits only for 1 and 30 days. Ultrasonic tips should be considered a good option for endodontic retreatment, especially for cases of bioceramics. Finally, there is a predominance of E. faecalis and P. gingivalis in all phases of endodontic retreatment.

Introduction: Periodontal disease is a chronic infection caused by a bacterium that stimulates the immunoinflammatory response, leading to inflammation of the gingival and tooth support tissue, resulting from the pathogenesis of the microorganism and the host's response. Studies have investigated the association between periodontal conditions and possible complications for pregnant women and newborns. Objective: Analyzed the main consequences of periodontal disease during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as changes involving newborns, in order to elucidate the importance of prenatal dental care. Methods: The present study was followed by a systematic literature review model, according to the PRISMA rules. Clinical studies included case reports, retrospective, prospective and randomized trials. The quality of the studies was based on the GRADE instrument. The risk of bias was analyzed according to the Cochrane instrument. Results: A total of 104 articles were found. A total of 48 articles were evaluated in full, and 20 were included and discussed in this study. The overall assessment did not result in significant risks that could compromise the science of the present study. According to the GRADE classification, the studies were of moderate quality. Gingivitis, periodontitis, and tooth loss were found to be associated with premature birth. Periodontal disease can increase the chance of negative neonatal and maternal outcomes, with fetal growth restriction, vulvovaginitis, and premature rupture of the membrane being the main effects. Conclusion: Oral health should be an important focus in the monitoring of pregnant women in all maternal and child health services, making it necessary to incorporate the diagnosis of maternal oral health and periodontal disease for the health of the mother and newborn.

Education and training support public health practitioners in identifying and addressing challenges related to equitable health concerns. This article details a four-step Curricular Responsive Review Model (CRRM) generated by educators in a Council on Education for Public Health–accredited public health program to systematically understand and gather feedback on how to develop a responsive curriculum for their students. A review of all course syllabi was conducted by two faculty members and a doctoral student to identify curricular gaps and overlap. These findings, critical team dialogues, and a review of the literature informed the development of a survey to identify the health equity concepts and skills needed by MPH students. Community partners ( n = 4) responded to health equity education questions to detail the essential concepts and skills needed to teach students. Health equity educators (HEEs; n = 4) were then consulted on how to address knowledge gaps through pedagogy and educational resources. Community partners provided a list of areas that students should be educated in to enrich their health equity understandings. Recommendations were generated for integrating those concepts/skills into course teaching plans. The four-step CRRM in health equity education provides an opportunity for public health programs to engage in systematic mapping and critically reflective review processes to address curricular gaps and overlap. Mechanisms to receive real-world knowledge on health equity from a variety of stakeholders are essential to ensure real-word practical learning. The CRRM identifies systematic, responsive curricular mapping and review in public health as essential for meaningful, real-world equity education in disciplines beyond public health and health promotion.
