In this work the relationship between the Selic rate and some bank parameters defined by the so-called Basel Accords is studied. The cross-correlation between the Selic rate and the parameters is used to explain how these parameters affect the Selic rate and vice-versa so as to define the predictability of the Selic rate using (some of) these parameters as inputs. A model is then proposed for predicting the Selic rate based on some specific parameters using fuzzy logic ideas, which dealt with a partitioning of the universe of discourse using clusters related to the output data distribution. The proposed model is compared to four other known models in the literature and showed to have better performance in average compared to all other models.

This paper presents a dialogue system for training doctors to break bad news. The originality of this work lies in its knowledge representation. All information known before the dialogue (the universe of discourse, the context, the scenario of the dialogue) as well as the knowledge transferred from the doctor to the patient during the conversation is represented in a shared knowledge structure called common ground, that constitute the core of the system. The Natural Language Understanding and the Natural Language Generation modules of the system take advantage on this structure and we present in this paper different original techniques making it possible to implement them efficiently.

"Constructive Prerequisites for Sense and Explanatory Worlds in Lucian Blagaʼs Aphorisms. The main purpose of this study is to tackle Lucian Blagaʼs aphorisms by emphasizing the generative strategies involved in the construction of both philosophical or poetic sense and explanatory worlds. If we are to integrate aphorisms within the typological frame of texts, according to Mircea Borcilăʼs proposals, it will be imperative to take into account both their formal peculiarities and, much more importantly, the elements that converge towards their sense creation. In connection with Eugenio Coseriuʼs universes of discourse theory, Blagaʼs aphorisms project two different levels of sense and typological finalities, namely the level of philosophical thought, which underlies the apophantic logos, and the level of creative phantasy, which underlies the poetic logos. However, as we talk about a special prototype of text, we are able to grasp a mixture of universes of discourse and, implicitly, of both their corresponding finalities and strategies through which philosophical or poetic sense is generated. In theory, the hybrid form of some aphorisms reveals their synthetic nature, which coagulates two complementary zones of auctorial consciousness within the same level of discourse, undoubtedly interconnecting creative imprints. Keywords: language, linguistic creativity, universe of discourse, philosophic sense, poetic sense, explanatory worlds, metaphor, aphorism "

AbstractThe paper discusses problems which arise in attempts to axiomatize parts of religion or religious belief systems. Besides those problems already investigated by Bochenski, like that of the propositional content or the meaning of religious discourse there are several further ones. This paper deals with the question whether full Classical Logic is suitable, whether one universe of discourse is sufficient, how to use definitions and analogous concepts and whether justifications satisfy credibility criteria.

Our contemporary moment is a moment of crisis of epistemology as a part of the wider and deeper crisis of modernity and the human condition. The crisis of epistemology emerges from the limits of the epistemic as it is tied to epistemology of procedural certainty and closure. The crisis of epistemology also reflects the limits of epistemology closed within the Euro-American universe of discourse. It is in this context that the present essay discusses Boaventura de Sousa Santos’ Epistemologies of the South: Justice Against Epistemicide. It also discusses some of the limits of de Sousa Santos’ alternatives especially his lack of cultivation of the ontological in his exploration of epistemological alternatives beyond the Eurocentric canons. It then explores the pathways of ontological epistemology of participation which brings epistemic and ontological works and meditations together in transformative and cross-cultural ways. This helps us in going beyond both the limits of the primacy of epistemology in modernity as well as Eurocentrism. It also explores pathways of a new hermeneutics which involves walking and meditating across multiple topoi of cultures and traditions of thinking and reflections which is called multi- topial hermeneutics in this study. This involves foot-walking and foot-meditative interpretation across multiple cultures and traditions of the world which help us go beyond ethnocentrism and eurocentrism and cultivate conversations and realisations across borders what the essay calls planetary realisations.

A cubic m-polar fuzzy set (CmPFS) is a new hybrid extension of cubic set (CS) and m-polar fuzzy set (mPFS). A CS comprises two parts; one part consists of a fuzzy interval (may sometimes be a fuzzy number) acting as membership grade (MG), and the second part consists of a fuzzy number acting as non-membership grade (NMG). An mPFS assigns m number of MGs against each alternative in the universe of discourse. A CmPFS deals with single as well as multi-polar information in the cubic environment. In this article, we explore some new aspects and consequences of the CmPFS. We define score and accuracy functions to find the priorities of alternatives/objects in multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). For this objective, some new operations, like addition, scalar/usual multiplication, and power, are defined under Dombi’s t-norm and t-conorm. We develop several new aggregation operators (AOs) using cubic m-polar fuzzy Dombi’s t-norm and t-conorm. We present certain properties of suggested operators like monotonicity, commutativity, idempotency, and boundedness. Additionally, to discuss the application of these AOs, we present an advanced superiority and inferiority ranking (SIR) technique to deal with the problem of conversion from a linear economy to a circular economy. Moreover, a comparison analysis of proposed methodology with some other existing methods is also given.

Soft set is one of the latest mathematical models to handle uncertainty. In a soft set, every element of its parameter set is associated with a subset of the universe of discourse under consideration. In recent times, soft set and its hybrid models have been used extensively to handle decision making problems with uncertain data. It's established that an appropriate hybrid model works better than its basic components. In this article, an algorithm is proposed that is used to recommend the best variety of turmeric having a given set of parameters using Interval valued fuzzy soft sets. Most importantly, the priorities of parameters are taken as fuzzy interval values so that higher uncertainty can be handled properly. Reduction of parameters helps in getting down the complexity of the process under consideration. A metaheuristic optimization technique is a better option to handle these kinds of problems. The authors use particle swarm optimization (PSO) to achieve parameter reduction.

To ensure the sustainable development of an enterprise, it is necessary to properly analyze the enterprise development, to ground the plans and management decisions on effective diagnostics and prediction of current and future economic situation at the enterprise. The article presents a study on the application of fuzzy time series forecasting methods. A new approach is applied to forecasting an enterprise's net income using a fuzzy technique. For testing the methodology, there were used statistical data on the enterprise net income level of the Ukrainian enterprise from 2002 to 2017. In the method of Stevenson and Potter, it is proposed to use as the universe of discourse, in the process of applying the method for all defined fuzzy sets, the intervals of variation of such indicator as growth rate. The same background as in Stevenson and Porter’s model is used in this article for forecasting the time series levels using the growth rates of the actual data as the universe of discourse. The forecasting results, obtained by this approach, are supposed to have more accuracy rate than other fuzzy time series models. Some modifications of this technique are proposed to obtain a higher accuracy rate and a point forecast one step forward.

Plithogenic Hypersoft set is the multi-argument function with plithogenic universe of discourse and single dominant attribute value. The theory of plithogenic sets deals with the attributes and it is of the form (P, a, V, d, c) characterized by the degree of appurtenance and contradiction. This paper introduces the approach of plithogenic hypersoft sets with two independent dominant attribute values pertaining to each attribute to handle the dual system of decision making. The proposed decision-making model is validated with the data of the present COVID -19 pandemic situations. The objective of the model is to rank the patients being identified as asymptotic and affected using the Frequency Matrix Multi Attributes Decision-making system. Combined plithogenic hypersoft representations of the degree of appurtenance between the patients and the attribute values make the decision-making model more comprehensive and feasible. The developed model can be extended to another decision-making environment with various forms of the degree of appurtenance.

<p>Language and media are effective entities to perpetuate male domination over women. Both are representations of various social conflicts, interests, power and hegemony. Through Psychological analysis, this study aims to reveal how both of them can establish the process of 'marginalizing' women. This study used a qualitative method with a literature review approach. The results showed that violence against women in language and the media is an invisible form of violence. Language is something that has a purpose (teleology) in itself, which is conditioned by various environmental interests. In patriarchal culture, language is used to build a bad image of women with the aim of strengthening the position of men as the dominant group. The bad image is then transplanted by the media, made into a universe of discourse and implanted into collective consciousness as the public's subconscious imagination. As a result, whether we realize it or not, women are treated in a subordinate way, but also define themselves in a subordinate way according to men's eyes.</p><p> </p><p><em><span lang="EN-US">Bahasa dan media adalah entitas yang efektif untuk mengekalkan dominasi laki-laki atas perempuan.
