Novel Anderson-type polyoxomanganotungstate clusters with the β-isomer structure were synthesized and monofunctionalized with derivatives of 1,3-propanediol, and show unprecedented coordination activity as non-lacunary polyoxotungstate clusters.

Sociological contributions to debates surrounding sustainable consumption have presented strong critiques of methodological individualism and technological determinism. Drawing from a range of sociological insights from the fields of consumption, everyday life and science and technology studies, these critiques emphasize the recursivity between (a) everyday performances and object use, and (b) how those performances are socially ordered. Empirical studies have, however, been criticized as being descriptive of micro-level phenomena to the exclusion of explanations of processes of reproduction or change. Developing a methodological approach that examines sequences of activities this article explores different forms of coordination (activity, inter-personal and material) that condition the temporal and material flows of laundry practices. Doing so produces an analysis that de-centres technologies and individual performances, allowing for the identification of mechanisms that order the practice of laundry at the personal, household and societal levels. These are: social relations; cultural conventions; domestic materiality; and institutionalized temporal rhythms. In conclusion, we suggest that addressing such mechanisms offers fruitful avenues for fostering more sustainable consumption, compared to dominant approaches that are founded within ‘deficit models’ of action.

Purpose The provision of information and advice for older people arranging their own care is a policy objective. The purpose of this paper is to explore the range and scope of web-based information about care coordination activities for older people in the non-statutory sector in England. Design/methodology/approach Non-statutory organisations were identified through a structured internet search. Services were screened to identify those providing at least one care coordination activity. A postal survey of services was conducted in 2014 and results compared with the initial findings of the web search. Findings Almost 300 services were identified, most of which were provided by three organisations: Age UK; Alzheimer’s Society; and the British Red Cross. Brokerage was the most frequently reported care coordination activity; the majority of services focussed on help to stay at home; and carers and older people (including those with dementia) were the target groups most often identified. Comparison of the two information sources revealed a significant agreement between two care coordination’s activities: compiling support plans and monitoring and review. Research limitations/implications Findings are based on a purposive sample of organisations and therefore care must be exercised in generalising from them. Originality/value This study is one of the first to systematically explore the nature and extent of information about care coordination activities provided by the non-statutory sector in England. It was conducted when policy advocated both an increased role for the non-statutory sector and an increase in self-directed support.

In article questions of realization of constitutional and legal bases of bodies of prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation for law enforcement and a law and order, protection of the rights and freedoms of the person and citizen are considered. According to the author there was now an unsatisfactory situation in the sphere of the rights and freedoms of the person and citizen, increases the number of violations of the rights and freedoms that leads to increase in social tension and loss of trust of the population to all structures of the government. In this connection in article improvement of mechanisms of ensuring with bodies of prosecutor’s office of the rights and freedoms of the person and citizen is proved by need of definition of coordination activity of prosecutor’s office, from the point of view of her potential and a role in fight against crime also.

Background:Health benefits of physical activity (PA) and physical fitness (PF) are reasonably well established, but tracking studies of PA and PF in childhood have not ordinarily considered the role of motor coordination. Objectives:To compare the growth status, gross motor coordination (GMC), PA, and PF characteristics of children at 6 years of age relative to aerobic fitness (fit, unfit) and PA (active, sedentary) at 10 years.Methods:285 primary school children (142 girls, 143 boys) resident on the 4 main Azorean islands, Portugal, were measured annually (in the fall) from 6 to 10 years. ANOVA and t tests were computed with SPSS 17.Results:Children with either high aerobic fitness or with high level of PA at 10 years of age tended to have a more favorable profile at 6 years compared with those with low fitness or low activity, respectively. Children who were both fit and active at 10 years of age had a more favorable activity and fitness profile and had better GMC at 6 years compared with children who were unfit and sedentary. Conclusions:Results highlight the need to consider not only PA, but also PF and GMC in health promotion through the primary school years.

Scopolamine, an anticholinergic, is an attractive amnesic agent for discerning the action of candidate antiamnesic drugs.Bacopa monnieraLinn (Syn. Brahmi) is one such antiamnesic agent that is frequently used in the ancient Indian medical system. We have earlier reported the reversal of diazepam-induced amnesia withB. monniera. In this study we wanted to test if scopolamine-induced impairment of spatial memory can also be ameliorated byB. monnierausing water maze mouse model. The objective of study was to study the effect ofB. monnieraon scopolamine-induced amnesia. We employed Morris water maze scale to test the amnesic effect of scopolamine and its reversal byB. monniera.Rotarod test was conducted to screen muscle coordination activity of mice. Scopolamine significantly impaired the acquisition and retrieval of memory producing both anterograde and retrograde amnesia.Bacopa monnieraextract was able to reverse both anterograde and retrograde amnesia. We propose thatB. monniera'seffects on cholinergic system may be helpful for developing alternative therapeutic approaches for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
