This document presents the proceedings of the VRIC - ConVRgence conference held on July 7-9, 2021. The conference was organized again this year in a particular context, that of the COVID-19 health crisis, and the usual dates were shifted from March to July to allow for a hybrid format both in-situ in Laval, and in the Laval Virtual World. We hope that next year will be back to normal, both in terms of organization and volume of submissions. The article reflects the main directions in scientific activity of Valery Mokienko, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Department of Slavic Philology and Scientific Director of the Interdepartmental Dictionary Office of Saint Petersburg University, who is celebrating his 80th anniversary. The author traces the scientific career of this slavist, phraseologist, lexicographer, the founder of a scientific school and organizer of young researchers, presents his main monographs and lexicographic works. The total number of V.M. Mokienkos works is more than 1200. The report refers to the unique dictionary projects implemented under the guidance of V.M. Mokienko that have no analogues in the world lexicographic practice. The results of V.M. Mokienko's scientific cooperation with foreign universities and international scientific communities, highly appreciated by foreign awards, are shown. Special attention is paid to the achievements of V.M. Mokienko in the field of phraseography, for which he was awarded the Gold Medal named after V.I. Dal.

Abstract David S. Miller was Acting Scientific Director of the Division of Intramural Research at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health, and Head of the Intracellular Regulation Group in the Laboratory of Toxicology and Pharmacology before he retired in 2016. David received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Maine in 1973. David was a Group Leader at the Michigan Cancer Foundation before joining the NIEHS in 1985. His research covered a wide range from renal excretory transport mechanisms to regulation of transporters at the blood–CSF and blood–brain barriers, from fish, amphibians and birds to mammals. David was an outstanding scientist with irresistible enthusiasm for science and an incredible ability to think outside the box while being an exceptional mentor and friend.

Alula Taibel has been an Italian zoologist of Austrian- Yemenite origin. After having served the Italian Army, he graduated in Natural Sciences at Bologna University in 1925. He was later director of the Poultry Station at Rovigo and scientific director of the Turin Zoological Garden. As to our knowledge no overview of his scientific work has never been published, a synthesis is here presented together with an almost complete list of his papers. Taibel has been one of the major experts on the Galliformes of the Cracidae family and therefore his papers on them are of particular relevance for ornithologists.
