The increasing number of IoT devices leads to the demand for updating them securely, and stably. Without updating there is a high risk of being attack by hackers or malfunction due to outdated packages. To the date of this article, a lot of IoT updating methods were introduced. Among them are updating using VM containers, using packages, or using blockchain. However, some methods take time to recover a failed update while some cases require the minimum downtime of the IoT devices, or even some devices cannot communicate to the control server or cannot perform the rollback themselves after the update failure. In this article, our contribution is implementing different methods to reduce the rollback down time issue including using primary - secondary selection, using git revert, and using blockchain-based revert.

Burn time errors caused by various start-up transient effects have a significant influence on the regression modelling of hybrid rockets. Their influence is especially pronounced in the simulation model of the Cascaded Multi Impinging Jet (CAMUI) hybrid rocket engine. This paper analyses these transient burn time errors and their effect on the regression simulations for short burn time engines. To address these errors, the equivalent burn time is introduced and is defined as the time the engine would burn if it were burning at its steady-state level throughout the burn time to achieve the measured total impulse. The accuracy of the regression simulation with and without the use of equivalent burn time is then finally compared. Equivalent burn time is shown to address the burn time issue successfully for port regression and, therefore, also for other types of cylindrical port hybrid rocket engines. For the CAMUI-specific impinging jet fore-end and back-end surfaces, though, the results are inconclusive.

AbstractThe poor catalyst stability in acidic oxidation evolution reaction (OER) has been a long-time issue. Herein, we introduce electron-deficient metal on semiconducting metal oxides-consisting of Ir (Rh, Au, Ru)-MoO3 embedded by graphitic carbon layers (IMO) using an electrospinning method. We systematically investigate IMO’s structure, electron transfer behaviors, and OER catalytic performance by combining experimental and theoretical studies. Remarkably, IMO with an electron-deficient metal surface (Irx+; x > 4) exhibit a low overpotential of only ~156 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and excellent durability in acidic media due to the high oxidation state of metal on MoO3. Furthermore, the proton dissociation pathway is suggested via surface oxygen serving as proton acceptors. This study suggests high stability with high catalytic performance in these materials by creating electron-deficient surfaces and provides a general, unique strategy for guiding the design of other metal-semiconductor nanocatalysts.

This research was conducted based on the indicators of character education on environmental care which aimed to find out and analyze the school curriculum, the applying process of character education during learning in the class, the implementation, supporting factors, and hampering factors in implementing character education on environmental care. This was a descriptive qualitative research which focused on the indicators that must be achieved by the school and students. The main sources of this research were the school principal, the teachers and students of second and fifth grades. The data were collected using observation, interview, and documentation with the researcher himself as the instrument. The data were then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The data validity in this research used triangulation technique which was  source  triangulation.  The  results  showed  that  the  implementation  of character education on environmental care was done based on the school curriculum in regular activities, spontaneous activity, exemplary, and conditioning; the applying process of character education during learning in the class and at school;  the  implementation  of character education  could  be  seen  from  eight indicators which had been achieved by the school, six indicators which had been done by low and high-class students. The supporting factors were also found at school in the form of infrastructure and the role of school environment. However, there were also hampering factors such as time issue which caused less maximal implementation and the lack of giving reward to the students who had cared with environment.

During the period of rapid development of science and technology among the main representatives of Russian classical literature, only Alexander Herzen and Ivan Goncharov experienced a deep and substantive interest in the philosophy of science. For the author of “The Precipice,” this interest was associated with the main issue around which the dominant problematics of his work is concentrated: this is the question of the compatibility of scientific thinking and traditional faith. This work examines mainly one aspect of the topic: the writer's interest in natural science and, above all, in astronomy. Darwinism, with its thesis on the origin of man from ape, and astronomical discoveries that activated thoughts about life on other planets, gave rise to doubts in the mass consciousness about the established religious picture of the world. Goncharov defined his attitude to these changes long before the outbreak of the crisis of religious consciousness in the 1860s. As a conservative and deeply religious person, he took scientific progress seriously, not opposing it to religion and considering it an instrument of God's Providence for humanity. The crisis of religious consciousness in Russian society of the 19th century is regarded as the main subject of Goncharov's artistic research, which binds “A Common Story,” “Oblomov” and “The Precipice” into a trilogy.

The blockchain is a distributed ledger technology that is growing in importance since inception. Besides cryptocurrencies, it has also crossed its boundary inspiring various organizations, enterprises, or business establishments to adopt this technology benefiting from the most innovative security features. The decentralized and immutable aspects have been the key points that endorse blockchain as one of the most secure technologies at the present time. However, in recent times such features seemed to be faded due to new attacking techniques. One of the biggest challenges remains within the consensus protocol itself, which is an essential component to bring all network participants to an agreed state. Cryptocurrencies adopt suitable consensus protocols based on their mining requirement, and Proof of Work (PoW) is the consensus protocol that is being predominated in major cryptocurrencies. Recent consensus protocol-based attacks, such as the 51% attack, Selfish Mining, Miner Bribe Attack, Zero Confirmation Attack, and One Confirmation Attack have been demonstrated feasible. To overcome these attacks, we propose Proof of Adjourn (PoAj), a novel consensus protocol that provides strong protection regardless of attackers hashing capability. After analyzing the 5 major attacks, and current protection techniques indicating the causes of their failure, we compared the PoAj against the most widely used PoW, showing that PoAj is not only able to mitigate the 5 attacks but also attacks relying on having a large amount of hashing power. In addition, the proposed PoAj showed to be an effective approach to mitigate the processing time issue of large-sized transactions. PoAj is not tailored to any particular attack; therefore, it is effective against malicious powerful players. The proposed approach provides a strong barrier not only to current and known attacks but also to future unknown attacks based on different strategies that rely on controlling the majority of the hashing power.

Accurate automatic quantitative cephalometry are essential for orthodontics. However, manual labeling of cephalometric landmarks is tedious and subjective, which also must be performed by professional doctors. In recent years, deep learning has gained attention for its success in computer vision field. It has achieved large progress in resolving problems like image classification or image segmentation. In this paper, we propose a two-step method which can automatically detect cephalometric landmarks on skeletal X-ray images. First, we roughly extract a region of interest (ROI) patch for each landmark by registering the testing image to training images, which have annotated landmarks. Then, we utilize pre-trained networks with a backbone of ResNet50, which is a state-of-the-art convolutional neural network, to detect each landmark in each ROI patch. The network directly outputs the coordinates of the landmarks. We evaluate our method on two datasets: ISBI 2015 Grand Challenge in Dental X-ray Image Analysis and our own dataset provided by Shandong University. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve satisfying results on both SDR (Successful Detection Rate) and SCR (Successful Classification Rate). However, the computational time issue remains to be improved in the future.

The article is devoted to the consideration of the symbolism and sacred content of a special kind of coin-shaped pendants, which are made of non-ferrous metals, decorated with twelve convex dots around the perimeter, and in the center have a hemispherical projection or hexagonal figure. Collection of such pendants is small and consists of single finds, mostly found in barrows and settlements of Early Middle Ages. For the first time, issue of interpretation of coin-shaped pendants was raised more than twenty years ago, after which the number of materials increased substantially due to the finds not only from the lands of Belarus but also from adjacent countries. Territory of their distribution includes southern and central Belarus and northwestern regions of Ukraine. Separate finds have also been made in Polish Podlasze, Eastern Lithuania and Southern Latvia. This area does not coincide with the lands of any particular union of East Slavic tribes, but pendants of this type are often found on sites, materials of which include characteristic temporal jewelry of Dregovichi type, decorated with granulation. Based on nature of associated finds, pendants of this type were in use in XII –first half of XIII century. Therefore, they appeared probably in XI century. Little number of pendants mentioned above for a relatively large area may indicate that these products were aimed for a quantitatively small population. These pendants occurred both in relatively rich burials and in feudal estates, which confirms the high status of their owners. Chronology of pendants is coincides with bi-religion period, and there is no clear evidence of Christian affiliation of persons buried with them. Sites on which pendants were found are examined, if it is possible, ethno-deterministic decorations found there are also emphasized, and the area of distribution of the pendants of mentioned type is outlined at the publication. Find of such pendant in one of the burials in Lithuania, along with coin of the late XIV century is essential for determining of the chronology of the use of these products. The analogies among finds of pre-Christian era are indicated, that witnesses thee origins of mentioned symbolism among the pagan antiquities. Semantics of both number “12” and the hexagon in the center of the pendant are analyzed, and on this basis conclusion is made about astronomical-calendar symbolism of the identified objects.
