Local wisdom as environmental education on Kasepuhan Ciptagelar

The purpose of this study is to overview the local wisdom from local knowledge and local value, which build as an environmental educational approach to Kasepuhan Ciptagelar society. This research used a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observation, and document evaluation from June until November 2019 on the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar society. The data analysis of this study was completed through a process of reduction, verification, and conclusions. Local wisdom at Kasepuhan Ciptagelar contains environmental education values; physical, social, and cultural-environmental educations. It shows from their attachment to nature where the laws and natural cycles become their benchmark in the agricultural system used. Activities related to the society farming system are still implemented collectively to strengthen ties between residents through cooperation, which is a characteristic of their social-environmental education and seen from cultural-environmental education. It is closely related to a series of customary rituals that must be carried out by the Kasepuhan Ciptagelar agricultural activity.

Local Value Chain Models of Healthy Food Access: A Qualitative Study of Two Approaches

Food value chains are increasingly recognized as more equitable alternatives to traditional supply chains and may represent a novel mechanism to achieve health equity at the local level. Country Fresh Stops (CFS) and Donation Station (DS) are two complementary programs that are part of a more robust value chain designed to support local agriculture in Appalachia Ohio. As the first study of these programs in the peer-reviewed literature, the objectives were to identify factors that facilitate or hinder the implementation of these two local value chain models of healthy food access and to identify the perceived impacts from the perspective of the sites implementing them. In-depth, semi-structured interviews were conducted with CFS (n = 7) and DS (n = 10) site representatives in January 2020. Template analysis was used to identify themes through a priori and inductive codes. Participants identified two primary facilitators: support from partner organizations and on-site program stewardship. Produce (and program) seasonality and mitigating food waste were the most cited challenges. Despite challenges, both CFS and DS sites perceive the models to be successful efforts for supporting the local economy, achieving organizational missions, and providing consumers with greater access to locally grown produce. These innovative programs demonstrate good feasibility, but long-term sustainability and impacts on other key stakeholders merit further investigation.

Phytomanagement of a Trace Element-Contaminated Site to Produce a Natural Dye: First Screening of an Emerging Biomass Valorization Chain

The study of different possible biomass valorization routes is crucial in order to diversify phytomanagement options, allowing the landowner/stakeholder to choose the best option based on site characteristics and the benefits of local value chains. In the current study, field and laboratory experiments were conducted to assess the suitabilitity of Malva sylvestris L. for the phytoattenuation of a dredged sediment disposal site contaminated with trace elements (trace element (Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn). The selected crop was Malva sylvestris, a flowering plant from which a colourant can be extracted to be used in dying of textiles as a way to valorize the produced biomass grown on this contaminated land. Under the conditions of the investigated site, the analysis of TE in the sediment and the biomass matrix showed no effect of M. sylvestris on the sediment TE contamination mobility with an excluder phenotype (Bioconcentration factor < 1). Metal concentrations were found to be the highest in the leaves followed by in the stem and flower. The dye extract obtained from the flower part of M. sylvestris permitted the silk alum-pretreated fabric to be dyed yellow, and the TE concentration in the dyed textile fabrics respected the threshold values set by OEKO-Tex standard 100.

A SOLUTION TO STEFAN PROBLEM USING EULERIAN TWO FLUID VOF MODEL

A novel approach for the solution of Stefan problem within the framework of the multi fluid model supplemented with Volume of Fluid (VOF) method, i.e. two-fluid VOF, is presented in this paper. The governing equation set is comprised of mass, momentum and energy conservation equations, written on a per phase basis and supplemented with closure models via the source terms. In our method, the heat and mass transfer is calculated from the heat transfer coefficient, which has a fictitious function and depends on the local cell size and the thermal conductivity, and the implementation is straightforward because of the usage of the local value instead of a global parameter. The interface sharpness is ensured by the application of the geometrical reconstruction scheme implemented in VOF. The model is verified for three types of computational meshes including triangular cells, and good agreement was obtained for the interface position and the temperature field. Although the developed method was validated only for Stefan problem, the application of the method to engineering problems is considered to be straightforward since it is implemented to a commercial CFD code only using a local value; especially in the field of naval hydrodynamics wherein the reduction of ship resistance using boiling flow can be computed efficiently since the method handles phase change processes using low resolution meshes.

Governmental Lodging and Recreation with The Approach of Tropical Architecture

Lodging and recreational activity are essential activities for training, often held at office of Pusat Pengembangan, Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (PPPPTK) Medan. Office of Pusat Pengembangan, Pemberdayaan Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan (PPPPTK) Medan has had one building as a homestead, but as time progress, the demand for this homestead increase because of the increased activity in recent years. Therefore, the expansion of the homestead and recreational space design is vital to support the training activities. This homestead and outdoor recreation centre design use the methodology to solve problems using a qualitative approach and a quantitative approach by following the data and analysis of the surrounding environment as well as the established governmental building guidelines. The implementation of tropical architecture in the design makes it able to achieve efficient use of energy and be environmentally friendly. This can be seen in the mass concept, indoor concept, outdoor concept, structural concept, circulation system, and utility system. Also, this design blends with the local value of the surrounding environment by applying local wisdom.

Introduksi Nilai-Nilai Lokal Pada Pemasaran Minyak Kelapa Khas Mandar

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dimana dalam mendapatkan data menggunakan beberapa metode seperti metode wawancara, dokumentasi, observasi dan dokumentasi dimana data yang didapatkan dikelolah dengan cara mereduksi data kemudian menyajikan data dan melakukan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Introduksi nilai-nilai lokal pemasaran minyak kelapa mandar terdapat pada acara adat pernikahan mandar yaitu Maccanring dan Metindor.Keluarga mempelai laki-laki biasanya membawa pakaian shalat, lemari, peralatan dapur, peralatan mandi, kelapa, buah-buahan serta minyak kelapa mandar.Menggunakan promosi dalam pemasaran minyak kelapa mandar dengan landasan meningkatkan nilai-nilai lokal.Introduksi nilai-nilai lokal masih sangat dibutuhkan pengelolah minyak kelapa mandar pada kondisi saat ini.Perkembangan teknologi dan komunikasi berpengaruh terhadap strategi perencanaan pemasaran. Dan Pelaksanaan strategi pemasaran berdasarkan prinsi-prinsip nilai lokal yang diterapakan dalam berbisnis boleh saja mencari keuntungan sebanyak-banyaknya asal jangan sampai merugikan konsumen ataupun pedagang lain. Cara berdagang sesuai denganJujur dalam menakar dan menimbang, halal, baik mutu atau kualitas minyak kelapa mandar. The type of research is gualitative research where obtaining data using sereval methods ,observation,where the data obtained. Based on the results of the study,shows that the introduction of the local value of mandar Coconut oil,marketing can be found at the mandar wedding ceremony namely’Maccanring and metindor “.The groom’s family usually brings prayer clothes ,cupboards,kitchen utensil,toiletries,Coconut,fruits and mandar Coconut Oil.Using promotion in the marketing of mandar Coconut oil in the basic of increasing the introduced local values.Local values are still very much needed by mandars coconut oil processor at current conditions.The development of technology and communication affects the marketing planning strategy and the implementation of marketing strategis based on principles of local values that are applied is doing bussines,it is possible to seek as much profil as possible as long as it does not harm consumers or other traders. MALAQBIQ LOCAL VALUE IN EFL WRITING CLASS

The purpose of this study is to integrate malaqbiq local value, Islamic values, and language skill in Writing in General Communication course. It was conducted at English Education study program of STAIN Majene in 2019 by employing descriptive qualitative research method with total of 32 participants. Data gathered from interview, field notes, questionnaire, and RPS document analysis showed that the process of implementing malaqbiq value which included planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning had not encountered such a big obstacle because it has been supported by vison-mission of STAIN Majene which exemplify the value per se and the learning achievements of KKNI curriculum which contains affective aspect. Indicators of malaqbiq value related to writing skill are having a broad and advanced view in writing; creating introductory paragraphs/statements containing greetings; choosing appropriate diction according to context; composing words appropriately according to grammar; using proper spelling of words; writing correct information; writing with sense of relief (based on personal judgement); writing with authenticity and one own’s ideas (no plagiarism); writing with regards to context (who and where); and writing text according to rules.

Introduction

Automotive industrialization in East Asia exhibits striking cross-national variation in both strategy and performance. China, Korea, and Taiwan have pursued “intensive” growth strategies, increasing local value added based on domestic inputs and capabilities. Malaysia has attempted to follow this strategy, but without success. In contrast, Thailand has relied on foreign assemblers and their principal suppliers to become a champion of “extensive” growth, resulting in an impressive expansion of production, assembly, and exports. Latecomer Indonesia has followed Thailand with some success, whereas the Philippines has remained an automotive backwater. This variation reflects the broader environment shaping the firm capacities of firms: (1) intensive growth poses particularly difficult policy challenges; (2) more difficult policy challenges require stronger institutions; and (3) institutions that promote upgrading emerge to the degree that political pressures compel national regimes to address external threats and domestic unrest absent easy access to resources necessary to do so.
