This article addresses the peculiarities of genre, style and personages of V. Sorokin’s new novel «Doctor Garin» (2021) with the reference to the latest critical reviews. It is stressed that «Doctor Garin» is the first writer’s experience in the adventure fiction and that because of this fact his novel for the first time has both the happy ending and a protagonist with positive character traits. Also the genres of romance, fairy tale, menippea and even stealth are mentioned as having some features in common with Sorokin’s novel. A special attention is paid to the associative connection with Russian literature.

The article is an attempt to understand and evaluate Sergey Bocharov’s critical activities and heritage from the point of view of some contemporary problems in human and philological studies. What was and comparatively is quite original in Bocharov’s articles and books, it is, I believe, his approach to a literary text, beginning with his early little book about Tolstoy’s «War and Peace», where this scholar tried to combine his research with his concrete experience of a «common reader». This approach, it seems, allowed him to avoid the two extremes in recent literary studies, namely, abstract theoretism, on one hand, and abstract positivism, on the other. In this sense, Bocharov’s heritage may help us today to return to some «pre-scientific», but scholarly forms of textual analysis in philology based on the reading experience itself.

The article attempts to systematize the processes taking place in Chinese musical culture in the first half of the XX century. The main direction of European art, manifested in this period in China – Romanticism. Using the example of the development of chamber vocal gen-res, it is shown how the aesthetic attitudes of Romanticism-the reliance on national traditions and the desire to synthesize the arts – were manifested in the works of Chinese composers. The methods of musical and poetic analysis, as well as the method of comparative analysis, are used to identify common trends between the formation of new music in China and the pro-cesses of formation of «young» European music schools in the first half of the XIX century. The reasons for the lag in the development of some na-tional cultures and the regularities of their accelerated development and overcoming the time distance are revealed. The most typical works of chamber-vocal genres of Chinese music of the specified period are used as the material for analysis.

The artistic images of cultural heroes play a special role in the preservation and transmission of the cultural code. Using statistical, comparative and hermeneutic methods, the article retrospectively reveals male images of Soviet cinema, perceived by the female audience as cultural heroes and «real men» (sex symbols). The research showed that the selected male images embodied the collective memory of the «masculine» and «spirit of the times», but the status of «cultural hero» and «real man» did not always coincide.

The article presents the philosophical idea of N. Berdyaev in its internal logic. The author of the article determines the gnoseological origins of Berdyaev’s existentialism, that was initially aiming to overcome Kant's phenomenalism and agnosticism through the connection of philosophical thinking with religious experience. On one hand N. Bonetskaya shows that Berdyaev, the author of the book «Philosophy of freedom» (1911), in search of the freedom conditions for the cognizing person used the conception by R. Steiner, developed for example in his work «Philosophy of freedom» (1894). On the other hand, Berdyaevʼs gnostic thought had its source in his own spontaneous inner experience, which the thinker himself considered as a revelation of «creativity». Berdyaevʼs existentialism developed as a reflection of his philosophical creativity and in this sense, it can be interpreted as selfknowledge.

The article considers the general cultural origins of constitutional, legal and architectural creativity. Just as this is characteristic of architectural and construction activity, in law the formation of a legal system is based on a certain project, on the idea, on the image and as such a project is the basic law – the constitution. The harmony and strength of the constitutional draft depends on the foundation, stability and effectiveness of the country's legal system. At the same time, the unity and diversity of the cultural space determines the presence of common features and, at the same time, the diversity of the image of the constitution in architectural and ar-chitectural-monumental art. The work explores the types of such images, the degree of their rootedness in culture and the forms of use for architec-tural, urban planning, political and cultural and educational purposes.

The international scientific conference «Geography of Art» has been considering the interaction of art and space for many years. The first conference was held in 2009. In 2021, the seventh conference was held in a hybrid format, which allowed scientists from remote places and other countries to be invited. The role of art in shaping the cultural landscape, cartographic, artistic, and literary images of the world, and concepts of space in art were discussed. Art creates the meanings of geographical objects of different levels, «sculpting» the semantic form of urban space. «Genius and Place» is a theme that reveals how artists, writers, and poets re-create the meanings of the places they are associated with. Literary geography and local texts are one of the dimensions of this problem. As usual, the conference was characterized by a broad interdisciplinary approach.
