The success of an Endodontic treatment relies on the position and morphology of root canals. It is important for a clinician to be familiar with the canal morphology to negotiate and thereby filling the canals with an inert material. But, the possibility of negotiating the canals with the use of conventional technique alone is difficult. Hence, careful examination with the use of advanced techniques to enhance vision is required to minimize the rate of treatment failures. To compare the efficiency of three methods Cone-Beam computed Tomography (CBCT), clinical analysis, AND Dental Loupes in detecting the MB2 canal in maxillary first molars.One hundred and fifty extracted intact permanent molars were collected. Two examiners i.e., one Endodontist and a Radiologist examined CBCT images of teeth for the number and position of root canals. The first stage included unaided examination using an explorer and K- files. While those teeth that were failed to locate the canals were examined using dental loupes for better magnification. The results were analyzed by McNemar's tests with Bonferroni correction, and Chi-square test using SPSS software v21.Among 150 extracted teeth that were compared,MB2 was detected using CBCT in around 68% of the teeth, while with the use of naked eye and dental loupes, it was found to be around 30% and 66% respectively and the difference in the detection rates was statistically significant.With the view of the parameter under consideration, CBCT has high detection rates followed by dental loupes and naked eye vision. The efficiency of CBCT scans and dental loupes in detecting a second mesio-buccal canal, Thus making it more likely to be treated by the clinician.

The most commonly used irrigant in the field of endodontics is sodium hypochlorite in the procedure of root canal therapy. Although the use of sodium hypochlorite is quite safe but on the other hand when it comes in to direct contact with the soft tissue, it can result in soft tissue injury.

IIrrigation solutions used and time of use has a definite effect on the micro hardness & other physical properties of dentin which in turn have direct consequence on the longevity functional performance of root canal treated teeth. To evaluate the effect of different irrigation solutions on micro hardness of root dentin.Forty extracted single rooted lower premolars were used. After instrumentation all the root halves were randomly assigned into 4groups (n=10) and brought in contact with one of the following irrigants for 5 minutes. Group I: 10 ml of 5% Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCl).Group II: 10 ml of 17% ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) followed by 10 ml of 5% NaOCl.Group III: 10 ml of 5% NaOCl followed by 10 ml of 2% chlorhexidine digluconate (CHX).Group IV: 10 ml of 5% NaOCL followed by flush of 10 ml distilled water then by 10ml of 2% CHX. Dentin micro hardness was measured at baseline and after treatment to determine the change in micro hardness, using Vickers tester.Data was analyzed using following parametric tests t-test, ANOVA test and Post Hoc test. Group II ie final irrigation with EDTA showed the highest percentage decrease in micro hardness values, followed by group III, then group IV and the lowest was group I. All groups showed a significant difference between each other (P < 0.05), except group III and IV. The coronal third showed the highest percentage decrease with significant difference between apical and middle thirds (P < 0.05).EDTA with NaOCl causes greatest changes in dentine micro hardness, an intermediate flush with normal saline should be given for prevention of precipitation with NaOCl & CHX.

Till last few decades, a necrosed tooth with immature apex was an indication for apexogenesis. With advances in dentistry such as improved irrigation protocols, better visibility to the operating site and increased skills of endodontists, regenerative endodontic procedures have come into the limelight. The alongside research in tissue engineering also have been beneficial for researchers and endodontists to open new horizons in regenerative endodontics. This review paper involves the triad of tissue engineering, concepts of regenerative endodontics applied in past, current protocols according to American Association of Endodontists and future concepts of tooth tissue regenerations which are being researched.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing is a fast evolving technology and is being increasingly used in dentistry. Compared to the older and traditional (lost-wax technique) methods, 3D printing has an upper hand. A wider variety of raw materials can be utilized with 3D printing. Even though this technology has been known for over 30 years, but its assimilation into practice was slow as it relied on the availability of the right materials, which give accurate prints and have optimal biocompatibity. 3D printing technology can use Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data for fabrication of guides used in surgical and non-surgical endodontics. This article assesses applications of 3D printing in endodontics.

A 15‐year‐old male presented to the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics immediately after a facial injury having complain of persistent pain in the teeth and the front upper lips. Upon examination it was revealed trauma of the upper incisors, also injury to the marginal gingiva of the front teeth. Further inspections showed slight laceration of the oral mucosa in the lower labial sulcus. Radiographic examination revealed fracture of crown of maxillary central incisor. The treatment plan which was decided comprised of complete removal of fractured crown followed by root canal therapy and immediate post placement and reattachment of the crown.

There are cases in the endodontic treatment which are a real challenge. There are teeth with different anatomies of the root canals of different teeth and their treatment. There are most of the cases which are sevely carious and has lost more than 50% of the tooth structure. Patients usually lose their teeth because these problems. The aim of this study is to investigate several cases with different root canal anatomies like in open apex with blunderbuss canals in maxillary central incisors or mandibular premolar and molars with severly decayed crown tooth structures and their management. one case with severly decayed lower mandibular premolar i.e 45, one case of maxillary first molar with severly decayed crown structure i.e 16, a case of severly decayed mandibular first molar i.e 36, Three Cases of maxillary central incisors with immature open apex and blunderbuss canals w.r.t 21. Results are observed after several years. In performing a root canal treatment on such teeth, one should appreciate the complexity of the root canal system, canal obliteration and configuration, and the potential for regenerating the original anatomy of the tooth either Endodontic or Post Endodontic. Knowledge of the phenomenon of the complexity of the root canal system, canal obliteration and configuration, and the potential for regenerating tooth anatomies with the help of rebond fibres, MTA and Composite restorations, this will improve the medical practice of the general dental practitioner.

Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles due to their antimicrobial properties and ability to survive under harsh conditions have become an area of interest in the field of biomedical sciences. The aim of the study was to evaluate antimicrobial efficacy of Nano-MgO in the elimination of endodontic pathogen . Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Nano-MgO and sodium hypochlorite against was calculated using broth dilution method. The antibacterial efficacy of Nano-MgO in elimination of the pathogens was seen using an ex-vivo model of decoronated teeth which were experimentally infected. The antibiofilm activity of the tested antimicrobial agents on biofilms was determined quantitatively by counting the colonies on Mueller-Hinton agar plates and by evaluation under scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The data analysis was done using one way ANOVA and the intergroup comparison by student –t test. MIC concentration of Nano-MgO was observed at 10mg/ml for . Mean values of colony forming unit (CFU) count was maximum for normal saline, followed by Nano-MgO and sodium hypochlorite with a significant difference between all the three groups. The results of the study reveal that Nano-MgO has the potential to be used as an alternative irrigating solution in endodontic therapy.
