This study examines Islam that lives in the Parit Setia community. In the Parit Setia community there is a tradition tolak bala Bepapas. The purpose of this research is to answer the problems that are the subject of discussion: 1) Definition of the tradition tolak bala Bepapas; 2) Understanding the community's theology of the tradition tolak bala Bepapas; and 3) The values contained in the tradition tolak bala Bepapas. This research is a field research, with a phenomenological approach, qualitative methods, and living theology as a knife of analysis. The findings in this research show that: First, historically the tradition tolak bala Bepapas is a tradition that resulted from a mixture of culture and religion. Tradition is carried out as an effort to avoid all forms of danger, which is symbolized through leaves and is led by a traditional leader (pak Labbai). Second, this tradition has long been rooted so that it is considered sacred. Even though there are differences of opinion in responding to it, this tradition still exists today as a cultural identity of society. Third, the determination of religious values contained in this tradition is based on the principles of tawhid, which substantially have values for relating to nature, maintaining friendship, asking for salvation and as a form of gratitude to Allah SWT. Observing all the findings in the field, it is not an exaggeration to conclude that this tradition is a living Islam (living Islamic theology) in the Parit Setia community.

The sparkling "progress" of modernism looks very majestic and luminous. Modernization is the process of changing traditional society into a modern society, marked by changes in economic, social, and political systems. The changes that brought progress were reversed with the condition of modern human spirituality which experienced drought and decline. Therefore, a Sufism approach is needed that cultivates the heart, taste, and soul and balances the rational and experimental approaches that develop in modern society. The purpose of this study is to describe Ibn 'Athaillah al-Sakandari's views on uzlah and to analyze the suitability of uzlah in today's times. This is a qualitative research that uses a literature study approach. The analytical method used is the content analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the uz that was written by Ibn Athaillah was not a form of activity that was carried out throughout life, but was limited to taking time to isolate oneself from the crowd. Because that way you can use meditation to the fullest. Uzlah is also an effort for modern humans to reflect and think about problems and find solutions in life so that they can get closer to Allah. Because the result of uzlah is not leaving the affairs of the world, but being able to live it with responsibility, discipline and upholding God's commands. The results of this research are expected to be practical in order to maintain the freshness of spirituality and reason.

Appeared for the first time in 1965 in the monumental work of Reza Arasteh, Sufi spiritual approaches and methods in psychotherapy have to wait for Muslim scholars attention in the 21st century. To our concern, up to now only few studies which dive in the ocean of Sufi doctrinal aspects of psychotherapy: most of them still swim at the upper level trying to estimate the possible relationship between Sufi spiritual practices and methods of psychotherapy. However, to our surprise, none of these few studies that focus on the Sufi spiritual maqāmāt, the well-known meticulous step-by-step guidance for those who want to master their soul and mental states. In the absence of this, the present article attempts to explore the maqāmāt discussed by Abū al-Naṣr al-Sarrāj al-Ṭūsī in his famous al-Luma‘ in light of psychotherapy. At the end this article finds that these Sufi maqāmāt are not only means for spiritual purification, i.e., soul and mental well-being, but also al-Sarrāj’s model of Sufistic psychotherapeutic outline method.

The peak of Imam Junaid's Sufism is monotheism. One of the efforts to achieve this is the attitude of wara' by always emphasizing on self-awareness so as not to neglect the purpose of the search. This study uses a qualitative approach with data sources obtained from books, books and journals that examine wara', especially the views of Imam Junaid al-Baghdadi which aims to determineanalyze the teachings of al-Junaid aboutwara' in all aspects of life in order to avoid behaviors that can distance themselves from Allah Swt. This is needed because every individual Muslim should continue to protect himself from bad things and not fall into it. The results showed that wara'in the view of Al-Junaid has a close correlation with the intensity of one's awareness in controlling one's behavior in order to avoid things that can distance oneself from Allah Swt. It develops as far as the knowledge possessed, so that the more mature the knowledge and the intense in applying it, the higher the degree of one's sanity. So it can be concluded that wara' is based on awareness and knowledge to be aware of the behavior of the limbs from temptations that come from outside themselves.
