In this paper, a novel hybrid Direct Torque Control (DTC) strategy based on predictive control with optimization of the Proportional-Integral (PI) controller to improve overall performances of Three-Phase Induction Machine (TPIM) drives is proposed. The presented control technique has contained merits of the DTC method such as fast dynamic response, simple structure, less dependence to machine parameters and merits of vector control method such as high accuracy. Furthermore, a hybrid DTC method with optimal voltage vectors is presented.  In the proposed control system, Genetic Algorithm (GA) is employed to obtain optimal values of the PI controller parameters. Finally, simulation results under the presented control strategy showed good performances of this method in comparison with DTC and vector control techniques.

The number of installations of Micro-Grid will increase to quadruple by 2020. The purpose is to improve the power quality while reducing the cost and the consumption of electricity in transmission and distribution networks, using a hybrid system powered by solar and wind sources, as well as integrating storage devices. This paper reviews and discusses the Micro- Grid Model with PI controller and neural network for power quality enhancement. Then, a comparative study of different battery types used for large-scale electricity storage is carried out, followed by a review of control strategies. In this research work, designed a model in MATLAB 2015A, indicating all the power quality parameters.

The control objective of three-phase photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected inverter is to generate high quality and stable AC sinusoidal output power with the same phase angle, frequency and amplitude compatible with the grid-connected voltage. To overcome the shortcoming of the normal current PWM control method and traditional PI algorithm, this paper researches a combined control strategy of three phase PV grid-connected inverter based on fuzzy PI controller. The combined control strategy switches different PWM current control method among the hysteretic PWM, SVPWM, hysteretic current SVPWM according to the error between command current and feedback current, and the d-axis command current is output of fuzzy PI controller of DC bus voltage. The simulation model of the combined control strategy for three phase PV grid-connected inverter based on normal PI controller is built with Matlab, simulation results verified the combination control strategy based on fuzzy PI controller has excellent performances.

This paper presents a new control method for three-phase voltage source rectifier to achieve a good system output response. The design process of fuzzy immune PI controller was described in detail. Moreover, a simulation model was built by the matlab toolbox to prove that rectifiers based on immune fuzzy PI controller have better performance in respond speed, stability and robustness ability, compared with rectifiers based on conventional PI controller.

Three-phase imbalance is a long-term issue existing in low-voltage distribution networks (LVDNs), which consequently has an inverse impact on the safe and optimal operation of LVDNs. Recently, the increasing integration of single-phase distributed generations (DGs) and flexible loads has increased the probability of imbalance occurrence in LVDNs. To overcome the above challenges, this paper proposes a novel methodology based on the concept of "Active Asymmetry Energy-Absorbing (AAEA)" utilizing loads with a back-to-back converter, denoted as “AAEA Unit” in this paper. AAEA Units are deployed and coordinated to actively absorb asymmetry power among three phases for imbalance mitigation in LVDNs based on the high-precision, high-accuracy, and real-time distribution-level phasor measurement unit (D-PMU) data acquisition system and the 5th generation mobile networks (5G) communication channels. Furthermore, the control scheme of the proposed method includes three control units. Specifically, the positive-sequence control unit is designed to maintain the voltage of the DC-capacitor of the back-to-back converter. Likewise, the negative-sequence and zero-sequence control units are expected to mitigate the imbalanced current components. A simple imbalanced LVDN is modeled and tested in Simulink/Matlab (MathWorks, US). The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

A compliant constant-force actuator based on the cylinder is an important tool for the contact operation of robots. Due to the nonlinearity and time delay of the pneumatic system, the traditional proportional–integral–derivative (PID) method for constant force control does not work so well. In this paper, an improved PID control method combining a backpropagation (BP) neural network and the Smith predictor is proposed. Through MATLAB simulation and experimental validation, the results show that the proposed method can shorten the maximum overshoot and the adjustment time compared with traditional the PID method.
