This paper aims to highlight the role of applying good governance standards in reducing corruption and achieving sustainable development in Yemen, since good governance represents the core of the development process of countries and societies. Good governance is based on the principle of transparency, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness in order to raise the capacity and efficiency of the state and make it more capable and effective to achieve sustainable development. Corruption in all its forms is one of the biggest obstacles to sustainable development in Yemen, and a major reason for wasting state resources and limiting foreign investment, and thus the expansion of poverty, the poor, and other effects related to the failure to achieve sustainable development. Yemen is one of the most Arab countries facing major challenges in the field of implementing good governance and combating corruption in order to achieve sustainable development and achieve its goals at all political, economic, social and environment. This paper concluded that Yemen suffers from a lack of implementation and enforcement of good governance standards, as well as a rampant corruption, which has led to an expansion of poverty and a significant decline in development rates. This article seeks to analyse good governance decision-making in the environmental context through an understanding and interpretation of the relationship between good environmental governance (evidenced inter alia by decision-making by public authorities) and sustainable development in South Africa.  It critically assesses recent case law in an attempt to understand the way in which our courts are evaluating authorities’ environmental decisions.  In reaching its objectives, this article considers also how environmental decisions are made in the first place and asks the question: what are the value choices underlying government’s decisions and what role does sustainable development play in informing decisions for good environmental governance.

In a globalized world evolving into knowledge societies and economies, geographic information plays a very important role, as illustrated by the spatially enabled society (SES) concept. In this context, the role of a modern cadastre in the good governance of land for sustainable development is worth noting. The international and regional agendas and various initiatives related to these themes are examined to deduce the emerging global trends and the possible transformation of the national statistical. One of the prerequisites for an integrated information system is the availability of harmonized data and the interoperability between the various dedicated systems. This depends on the effectiveness of the national statistical system and the establishment of a national spatial infrastructure. The institutional and organizational arrangements for better land governance are discussed. The resulting technological infrastructure to be implemented is then addressed.

Good management of charity foundations in Islam, specifically waqf, plays a significant role in achieving sustainable development. However, a substantial proportion of total waqf is still lying dormant across the world. The aim of the study is to obtain a better understanding of the problems related to waqf governance. An exploratory research design which uses depth interview is carried out on the authority which is responsible for the implementation of waqf governance in Kelantan, a state in Malaysia. The findings showed that legislation and inefficient management are among the possible impeding factors for good governance of waqf.

Abstract: To ensure the attainment of good governance and sustainable development, corruption and its scourge must be combated. In Nigeria, the state has had series of anti-corruption measures by successive administrations in its 55 years of existence as an independent entity. While such measures appeared to have been well packaged, however, absence of political will and inability of the state to regard civil society organizations as important partner in the anti corruption has retarded the country’s ability to get rid of the menace of corruption, hence the inability of Nigerian state to provide effective and efficient services to its teeming populace. Being a partner in the development process of modern state, and in order to effectively enhance their roles in the fight against corruption, the paper proper ways upon which civil society groups can organize themselves and work with the state to get rid of corruption in the country.Keywords: Civil Society, Corruption, Democracy, Democratization, State

Starting from the premise that sustainable development is an overall objective of EU Member States,that can be achieved through international cooperation that aims at economic growth, social development and environmental protection, the European Commission analyzed the socio-economic and investment context of the member states, identified risks and opportunities and made some recommendations.This paper presents the best practices of the European funding system to improve the accountability of business or institutional operators accessing European funds and the measures taken by some Member States for good governance.We emphasize the need to know the socio-economic and investment context by all stakeholders and initiate concrete measures of action to ensure real and sustainable economic growth by identifying feasible and lasting solutions; what is the role of business or institutional operators at local and regional level and how it could ensure good governance at local and regional level by applying for grants.

AbstractLinks among compliance, rule of law, and good governance are essential and indivisible, although not sufficient alone to achieve sustainable development. Compliance with environmental and sustainable development requirements can be improved by understand ing and applying the two main theoretical approaches: logic of consequences, and logic of appropriateness. Compliance can be improved more by combining the two approaches. Further work to disaggregate both the State and the firm, and to understand the role of biases, heuristics, and framing in actor's compliance calculations, remains to be done and promises important insights. Environment policy is one of the success stories of the European Union - thanks to European Union legislation we have made significant improvements such as cleaner air and safer drinking water. Countries and governments are seeking to develop their societies and achieve prosperity with growth for their people, through achieving comprehensive sustainable development, which guarantees the right of current generations to well-being, and preserving the right of subsequent generations through good exploitation of available resources, wealth and full preservation to the surrounding environment and not to destroy it. However, good governance reflects to recent global developments and changes that have coincided with changing in the system of political governance and the role of governments, as this concept was put forward in the framework of political programs in order to achieve development goals. Thus, good governance was provided and supported by international non-governmental organizations, such as the United Nations and international financial institutions, such as the World Bank, in order to add an authoritative, ethical way to practice power in managing the affairs of states and societies. The problem in this research paper was the extent of the contribution of civil society organizations in the development process, as a result of the weak role of governments and states, which forced these organizations to work side by side with governments in the process of achieving sustainable development. This paper relied on the descriptive and analytical approach and aimed to identify the important and effective role of civil society organizations in the process of achieving the development of peoples and societies. The study concluded that it is not possible for these civil organizations to contribute to achieving sustainable development with the absence or weakness of implementing and activating the standards of good governance, since good governance is the foundation to Achieve the real sustainable development.
