The principal factor influencing the length of a lava flow is the rate of effusion. With a high rate the lava flows rapidly from the source and tends to form an extensive and far-reaching flow which is simple in character (i.e. made of a single flow unit). With a low rate the lava tends to pile up layer upon layer to form a local accumulation of limited lateral extent near the source, and this accumulation is strongly compound in character (i.e. divisible into flow units). The initial viscosity affects the length indirectly by controlling the thickness of the extrusion, and this thickness control is capable of accounting for the fact that the median length of low-viscosity basaltic extrusions is 3.2 times that of high-viscosity andesite, trachyte and rhyolite ones. Other factors, such as the local topography, are thought to be relatively unimportant, an exception being when lava is ponded in a topographic depression. Measurement of the rate of effusion may be critical in any attempt to predict the distance that a lava flow will travel, such as the one which threatened Fornazzo and other towns and villages on Etna in 1971.

Background: The coronary disease and diabetes are the most common diseases in Tetovo, therefore the aim of this study is the evaluation of quality of life of patients and of the control group under stress, depression and anxiety influence. In this study has been used a purposeful sampling. The research instrument used consists of socio-demographic questions and four tests: Cohen’s stress measurement questionnaire, Beck’s depression measurement questionnaire, Beck’s anxiety measurement questionnaire and the quality of life measurement questionnaire (WHOQOL). The sample of the study consists of N=300, including patients with heart coronary diseases, patients with diabetes and respondents from the control groups. The results of the study proved the hypothesis that: stress, depression, and anxiety have a negative significant impact in quality of life in the study sample (p-.001). The findings of this study reveals the fact that patients with chronic disease have a reduced quality of life under the influence of psychological factors.

Background: Perimenopause covers the period immediately before the menopause and the first year after the last menstrual period. In addition to the changes in the menstrual cycle, women in the perimenopause phase often report a number of perimenopausal complaints and depressive disorders. This study aims to determine the prevalence of perimenopausal complaints and depression experienced in nurses at Sanglah General Hospital. Methods: The study uses a cross-sectional analytical. The measurement of perimenopause complaints uses the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) questionnaire and the depression measurement uses the Beck Depression Inventory-II questionnaire (BDI-II). The data are analyzed descriptively, it uses the Fisher test and linear regression test with significance level p <0.05. Results: Nurses who have perimenopausal complaints are 62.7%. Besides, depression is experienced by 23.8% of nurses who have perimenopausal complaints. The complained somatic symptoms with a mild degree are 50% and moderate degree is 40%. While the urogenital sexual symptoms with a moderate degree are 60%, and mild and severe degrees are 20%. Conclusion: This study shows the relationship between perimenopausal complaints and the depression of the nurses in Sanglah General Hospital. Therefore, it is necessary to hold an early detection of depression prevention by screening perimenopausal complaints.

This study examined the reliability of the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI, in Arabic form Kovacs, 1980) among elementary, middle, and high school students in Kuwait. The subjects (N = 2,299, ages 9–17) were selected from six districts across Kuwait. Children completed the CDI as a depression measurement tool with respect to gender and age. The overall alpha reliability coefficient for the CDI is 0.85. Girls attained higher and statistically more significant mean scores than did their male counterparts. The results indicate that the CDI shows reliability and internal consistency for use in Kuwait as a measure of childhood depression.

The range of rating instruments in depression measurement and the depth of their analytical relevance constitutes a major development in this psychiatric and psychotherapeutic field of mental health. Though the competition is acute amongst these various instruments, the results for the public have been outstandingly positive. A depression rating scale is essentially a psychiatric measuring instrument utilized in the identification and ranking of depression severity within the patient. The scale provides the practitioner, psychiatrist or psychotherapist, with sufficient information to assess the severity of the depression plotted on the scale. Not used as a “diagnostic tool” itself, nevertheless, the depression rating scale does function as an effective device for designating and assigning a behavioral score which may, then, be used in establishing the severity of depression of value in the designation of a diagnosis and treatment formula. In this paper, we will take a close look at the leading depression rating scales and briefly summarize their scope of assessment value in rating depression.

Factors related to anxiety and depression in kidney transplant patientsAbstract: To verify factors associated with anxiety and depression in renal transplant recipients. Quantitative study, cross-sectional design carried out in a hospital of high complexity, with 80 renal transplant recipients, over 18 years of age. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Measurement Scale - HADS was used. The data were analyzed by simple descriptive statistics, Student’s t-test or ANOVA, Mann Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis or Dunnet, and spearman correlation efficiency. In recent years, binge-watching becomes a highly popular way of spending free time. Even though binge-watching usually is related to entertainment, there are concerns about some negative and unhealthy outcomes of excessive form of this behavior. The study examined the predictive value of anxiety-depressive syndrome in explaining the symptoms of problematic binge-watching and the tendency to adopt a specific motivation to watch series. Research group consists of 645 Polish young adults. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, Depression Measurement Questionnaire, Viewing Motivation Scale, and Questionnaire of Excessive Binge-Watching were used in this study. The results of the path analysis show that anxiety-depressive syndrome and motivation to watch TV series are the significant factors in the manifestation of all symptoms of problematic binge-watching. Moreover, there is a significant relation between anxiety-depressive syndrome and motivation to watch TV series, which especially concerns escape motivation and motivation to deal with loneliness. Furthermore, motivation to deal with loneliness, escape motivation, and motivation to spend free time have mediating effect on the relationship between anxiety-depressive syndrome and problematic binge-watching. Results of this research show that there could be not only normative binge-watching behavior but also unhealthy and problematic form of this behavior.
