Previous planning for rural revival in towns has emphasized construction and government-led policies. However, we argue that the dilemmas of peri-metropolitan rural areas, such as Desakota in China, are far more complex faced with rural super village and hollowed village transformations. Rural revival planning needs to coordinate with the development of urbanized and rural areas towards multifunctional goals and plans as a whole. Therefore, we selected the town master plan of Lijia, a typical peri-metropolitan village in China, as a case study. Through a historical–interpretative approach involving analysis of planning policies, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with the key stakeholders involved, we structured the process and mechanism of rural revival in Lijia into three phases: resource identification, capitalization, and financialization. In different phases, different stakeholders adopt different roles. The government takes a leading role in resource identification and capitalization, while firms take a leading role in the process of financialization. “Market-dominant and government-guided” planning stimulates villagers to participate in rural revival. We highlight the importance of multifunctional land-use in terms of rural revival in the master planning of peri-metropolitan villages and provide a practical reference for uniting multiple stakeholders, including governments, firms, and villagers.

Abstract. The principal objective of the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security–Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) mission is to retrieve a sample of the asteroid (101955) Bennu and return it to Earth. OSIRIS-REx arrived at Bennu in December 2018. Images of the asteroid by the OSIRIS-REx Camera Suite (OCAMS) were photogrammetrically controlled to produce a global basemap and site-specific image mosaics essential to the selection of a primary and backup sample site, which were announced in December 2019. In the control process, OCAMS images were registered to shape models created from OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA) data and from the process of stereophotoclinometry. This paper summarizes the photogrammetric control to date of images collected at Bennu. We briefly review the mission and the OCAMS imaging sensors. We then describe the photogrammetric control process for the global mapping campaign and targeted reconnaissance surveys of candidate sample sites. Finally, we discuss ongoing and future work.

Process Approach to Knowledge ManagementThe article points out the limited availability of practical implementation guidelines, methods and tools as one of the core issues in the widespread usage of knowledge management (KM) in organizations. The process approach is proposed as an efficient way to understand the scope of knowledge management and to plan its development or improvement, in line with organizational strategy. The role of information technology (IT) in supporting knowledge management is emphasized and key functional groups of IT systems are listed. A sample section of the detailed process model is presented for the KM resource identification master process, with a BPMN graphical visualization. Both the process model and the detailed specification of IT systems supporting knowledge management are considered by the author as complex structures that require to be hosted in a dedicated support environment. Key assumptions of a tool, named KMBoost, are outlined to show how a simple, but interactive toolset can foster the understanding and usage of the KM process model. In the concluding remarks a high level SWOT analysis of the KM process model and the KMBoost tool is conducted.


Generally speaking, horizontal search engines are meant to deal with general web queries. In the context of this chapter, the authors investigated the act of navigational resource identification in the light of horizontal web searching. State-of-the-art navigational resource identification is reluctant to the distinct characteristics of the navigational queries and specific users' treatments toward different searching tasks. Consequently, in this chapter, the authors discussed a new mechanism for navigational resource identification according to previous findings.

The plant genus Cinnamomum contains economically important evergreen aromatic trees and shrubs belonging to the laurel family, Lauraceae. Our study tree species Cinnamomum osmophloeum Kaneh. (CO) has high economic value in Taiwan. The present study attempts to identify the gene resources of Cinnamomum osmophloeum Kaneh. by analyzing the nucleotide sequences of the partial noncoding internal transcribed spacer 2 (pITS2) of the ribosomal DNA and the trnL-trnF chloroplast genome. Seventy-three geographical strains of Cinnamomum osmophloeum, preserved in the Lien Hua-Chin Research Center of the Forestry Research Institute and the Hua-Lin Forestry Center of Chinese Culture University, were collected and analyzed by PCR amplification and DNA sequencing to study the genetic diversity and nucleotide sequence polymorphisms of the tested specimens. Our results allowed us to accurately identify the lineage of Cinnamomum osmophloeum and to conclude that the strains belonging to the Lien Hua-Chin Research Center had much higher genetic diversity than those preserved in the Hua-Lin Forestry Center. Multiple sequence alignments demonstrated that the variability of the nucleotide sequence polymorphisms for the pITS2 region was higher than those of the trnL intron and trnL-trnF intergenic spacer (IGS) regions among the 73 tested specimens of Cinnamomum osmophloeum. Cluster analyses, using the neighbor-joining and maximum parsimony methods, for the 73 tested geographical strains of Cinnamomum osmophloeum and species of Cinnamomum registered in the GenBank and EMBL databases were performed to demonstrate the genus and species distribution of the samples. Here, we describe the use of pITS2 polymorphisms as a genetic classifier and report the establishment of a DNA sequence database for CO gene resource identification. The sequence database described in this study can be used to identify CO specimens at the inter- or intraspecies level using pITS2 DNA sequences, which illustrates its value in gene resource identification. Our study results can be used further for correctly identifying the true Cinnamomum osmophloeum Kaneh.
