The area of phytosynthesized nanomaterials is rapidly developing, with numerous studies being published yearly. The use of plant extracts is an alternative method to reduce the toxic potential of the nanomaterials and the interest in obtaining phytosynthesized nanoparticles is usually directed towards accessible and common plant species, ferns not being explored to their real potential in this field. The developed nanoparticles could benefit from their superior antimicrobial and antioxidant properties (compared with the nanoparticles obtained by other routes), thus proposing an important alternative against health care-associated and drug-resistant infections, as well as in other types of applications. The present review aims to summarize the explored application of ferns in nanotechnology and related areas, as well as the current bottlenecks and future perspectives, as emerging from the literature data.

Lycopene is a well-known compound found commonly in tomatoes which brings wide range of health benefits against cardiovascular diseases and cancers. From an anti-cancer perspective, lycopene is often associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer and people often look for it as a dietary supplement which may help to prevent cancer. Previous scientific evidence exhibited that the anti-cancer activity of lycopene relies on its ability to suppress oncogene expressions and induce proapoptotic pathways. To further explore the real potential of lycopene in cancer prevention, this review discusses the new insights and perspectives on the anti-cancer activities of lycopene which could help to drive new direction for research. The relationship between inflammation and cancer is being highlighted, whereby lycopene suppresses cancer via resolution of inflammation are also discussed herein. The immune system was found to be a part of the anti-cancer system of lycopene as it modulates immune cells to suppress tumor growth and progression. Lycopene, which is under the family of carotenoids, was found to play special role in suppressing lung cancer.

Results are obtained on resolvent expansions around zero energy for Schrödinger operators H=-Δ+V(x) on L2(Rm), where V(x) is a sufficiently rapidly decaying real potential. The emphasis is on a unified approach, valid in all dimensions, which does not require one to distinguish between ∫V(x)dx=0 and ∫V(x)dx≠0 in dimensions m=1,2. It is based on a factorization technique and repeated decomposition of the Lippmann–Schwinger operator. Complete results are given in dimensions m=1 and m=2.

The last 20 years have been a remarkable era for biology and medicine. One of the most significant achievements has been the sequencing of the first human genomes, which has laid the foundation for profound insights into human genetics, the intricacies of regulation and development, and the forces of evolution. Incredibly, as we look into the future over the next 20 years, we see the very real potential for sequencing more than one billion genomes, bringing with it even deeper insights into human genetics as well as the genetics of millions of other species on the planet. Realizing this great potential, though, will only be achieved through the integration and development of highly scalable computational and quantitative approaches can keep pace with the rapid improvements to biotechnology. In this perspective, we aim to chart out these future technologies, anticipate the major themes of research, and call out the challenges ahead. One of the largest shifts will be in the training used to prepare the class of 2035 for their highly interdisciplinary world.

Coastal city of the Ivory Coast, San-Pedro is rich in natural, economic and tourist resources. This study analyses the contribution of the tourism economy to local development. Documentary research and a field survey were used to collect data. It should be remembered that San-Pedro has floristic, climatic and hydrographic assets. Moreover, human capital is one of the pillars of this activity with a diversity of actors, a socio-cultural wealth including remarkable historic sites (10) and twenty-eight (28) tourist establishments of varied standing. Despite these assets, the tourist economy suffers from an organizational dysfunction and a weakness in investments. With 64% of the Ivorian workforce working mainly in informal or ephemeral sectors linked to the tourism economy, only 10% of the households surveyed said they were feeling the effects of it. The spatial, social and economic impact of the tourist sector remains below the real potential of this locality and below expectations.
