The teaching-learning process is challenging in human anatomy. In this process, practical exams are necessary to enable a proper evaluation of the students. Students’ performance, on the other hand, reflects not only their knowledge but also their individual reactions to exams. Objective: This study aimed to identify signs and symptoms of stress in undergraduate students before practical exams in human anatomy. Methods: The sample consisted of 93 students (48 females and 45 males, mean age = 20.33 years) enrolled in medical and dental courses at undergraduate level. Blood rate, heart rate and oxygen saturation were assessed 30 minutes before the practical exams. Lipp´s Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults (LSSI) was used. Results: Statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) was observed for the systolic blood pressure between females (117.76  11.82 mmHg) and males (120.66  10.09 mmHg). Diastolic rate, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation were similar between sex groups (p > 0.05). A higher report of signs and symptoms of stress was detected in females (p < 0.05) for each of the stress stages described by LSSI, namely alarm, resistance and exhaustion. Medical and dental undergraduate students manifested signs and symptoms of stress before practical exams in human anatomy. The outcomes were more evident in females.

Background: Student’s assessment is a systemic process of determining the extent to which the student has achieved the desired competency. Mini–Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX) is an assessment tool applicable in broad range of settings. Very little data is available in Indian settings about Mini-CEX in undergraduate. This study has been undertaken to understand its role in formative assessment. Methods: In this interventional study 47 students and 7 faculty of pediatrics participated. Students were assessed for two encounters of Mini-CEX. Assessment was as per Mini-CEX rating form followed by feedback. Results: Mean score range for different competency of data gathering were 1.76 to 2.5 during first mini-CEX and 4.38 to 5.14 during second Mini-CEX. Difference was significant (Cohen’s d >0.8). More than 90% of students felt that Mini-CEX is better way to assess clinical skills and would like to be assessed by Mini-CEX. One to one interaction was most important advantage felt about Mini-CEX. Though nearly all faculties felt that Mini-CEX is a better way for assessment half of them disagree to continue using it in future due to time constraints. Conclusions: In this study we found Impact of Mini-CEX in formative assessment is significant to improve clinical competency at undergraduate level. Improvement in Mini-CEX scores in consecutive encounter signifies its role even as Teaching Learning tool. Need to consider issues about its feasibility for Undergraduate level in settings with limited staff strength.

Effective classroom communication is the highest challenge to teachers at undergraduate level in this 21st century. Owing to the higher level of exposure to internet and distractions through entertainment, when teachers stand in the classroom to establish an intellectual communication that is transmission of ideas, so many factors disrupt the effective communication between the teacher and the learner. The role of a teacher has also become a facilitator, which is diminishing the rigidity of a teacher. A facilitator is supposed to impart knowledge and skill using all the latest technological advancements like power point presentation, computer assisted teaching, using internet, you tube videos and online learning platforms etc. The challenge is that the facilitator should excel the machines and internet by maintaining classroom dynamics to make the teaching-learning process interesting, lively and fruitful. This paper is an attempt to delineate the salient features of effective classroom mechanism at undergraduate level in arts and science, maritime and technical education. It presents the importance of communication as a dialogue in classroom, learner participation, the reasons for non-participation, classroom management strategies and limitations, actual process of long lasting learning amongst Engineering, Arts and Science domain learners, the necessity of experiential learning and the requirement of skills based teaching and learning.

With the increase in internet technology as well as the electronic content the web-based learning has become the desirable medium in the field of education. In medical, dental and allied health science education, the conventional method involves the use of textbooks, lectures, and images. But trends suggest that a change is poised in this field. Objective: the systematic review aims to evaluate the literature of studies about the application of the e-Learning methods in radiology education at the undergraduate level in comparison to conventional teaching-learning methods. Material and Methods: prominent scientific databases were searched for literature related to the application of e-Learning in undergraduate radiology education. The search keywords used for the search were- E-learning, dental radiology, oral radiology, undergraduate. English language full text of eligible article was systematically reviewed. Results: seven full text articles were obtained after scrutiny of the available literature. Most of the research work was carried out in the past decade and dental schools in different parts of the world. Almost all the studies showed that e-learning was as either equally effective or more effective when compared to conventional teaching in dental radiology. Conclusion: e-learning could be a suitable alternative to conventional teaching-learning method with significant improvement in student attitude and knowledge however, the influence of e-learning in improving the practical or clinical skills of dental radiography is still debatable.

We conducted an anonymous survey of 140 medical interns at the end of the 2nd year of study in specialties leading in emotional burnout. The results obtained indicate the beginning of the syndrome formation even at the undergraduate level of education, with significant deterioration during the course of primary specialization. Prevention of burnout syndrome should begin with its diagnosis, as well as assessment of the presence of depression, situational and personal anxiety at the early stages of medical education.
