Abstract In the context of massive gravity theories, we study holographic flows driven by a relevant scalar operator and interpolating between a UV 3-dimensional CFT and a trans-IR Kasner universe. For a large class of scalar potentials, the Cauchy horizon never forms in presence of a non-trivial scalar hair, although, in absence of it, the black hole solution has an inner horizon due to the finite graviton mass. We show that the instability of the Cauchy horizon triggered by the scalar field is associated to a rapid collapse of the Einstein-Rosen bridge. The corresponding flows run smoothly through the event horizon and at late times end in a spacelike singularity at which the asymptotic geometry takes a general Kasner form dominated by the scalar hair kinetic term. Interestingly, we discover deviations from the simple Kasner universe whenever the potential terms become larger than the kinetic one. Finally, we study the effects of the scalar deformation and the graviton mass on the Kasner singularity exponents and show the relationship between the Kasner exponents and the entanglement and butterfly velocities probing the black hole dynamics. Differently from the holographic superconductor case, we can prove explicitly that Josephson oscillations in the interior of the BH are absent.

Abstract We establish a no inner-horizon theorem for black holes with charged scalar hairs. Considering a general gravitational theory with a charged scalar field, we prove that there exists no inner Cauchy horizon for both spherical and planar black holes with non-trivial scalar hair. The hairy black holes approach to a spacelike singularity at late interior time. This result is independent of the form of scalar potentials as well as the asymptotic boundary of spacetimes. We prove that the geometry near the singularity takes a universal Kasner form when the kinetic term of the scalar hair dominates, while novel behaviors different from the Kasner form are uncovered when the scalar potential become important to the background. For the hyperbolic horizon case, we show that hairy black hole can only has at most one inner horizon, and a concrete example with an inner horizon is presented. All these features are also valid for the Einstein gravity coupled with neutral scalars.

AbstractIn this work, we study the computational complexity of massive gravity theory via the “Complexity = Action” conjecture. Our system contains a particle moving on the boundary of the black hole spacetime. It is dual to inserting a fundamental string in the bulk background. Then this string would contribute a Nambu–Goto term, such that the total action is composed of the Einstein–Hilbert term, Nambu–Goto term and the boundary term. We shall investigate the time development of this system, and mainly discuss the features of the Nambu–Goto term affected by the graviton mass and the horizon curvature in different dimensions. Our study could contribute interesting properties of complexity.

One of the most interesting astronomical objects is the Galactic Center. It is a subject of intensive astronomical observations in different spectral bands in recent years. We concentrate our discussion on a theoretical analysis of observational data of bright stars in the IR-band obtained with large telescopes. We also discuss the importance of VLBI observations of bright structures which could characterize the shadow at the Galactic Center. If we adopt general relativity (GR), there are a number of theoretical models for the Galactic Center, such as a cluster of neutron stars, boson stars, neutrino balls, etc. Some of these models were rejected or the range of their parameters is significantly constrained with consequent observations and theoretical analysis. In recent years, a number of alternative theories of gravity have been proposed because there are dark matter (DM) and dark energy (DE) problems. An alternative theory of gravity may be considered as one possible solution for such problems. Some of these theories have black hole solutions, while other theories have no such solutions. There are attempts to describe the Galactic Center with alternative theories of gravity and in this case one can constrain parameters of such theories with observational data for the Galactic Center. In particular, theories of massive gravity are intensively developing and theorists have overcome pathologies presented in the initial versions of these theories. In theories of massive gravity, a graviton is massive in contrast with GR where a graviton is massless. Now these theories are considered as an alternative to GR. For example, the LIGO–Virgo collaboration obtained the graviton mass constraint of about [Formula: see text] eV in their first publication about the discovery of the first gravitational wave detection event that resulted of the merger of two massive black holes. Surprisingly, one could obtain a consistent and comparable constraint of graviton mass at a level around [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]eV from the analysis of observational data on the trajectory of the star S2 near the Galactic Center. Therefore, observations of bright stars with existing and forthcoming telescopes such as the European extremely large telescope (E-ELT) and the thirty meter telescope (TMT) are extremely useful for investigating the structure of the Galactic Center in the framework of GR, but these observations also give a tool to confirm, rule out or constrain alternative theories of gravity. As we noted earlier, VLBI observations with current and forthcoming global networks (like the Event Horizon Telescope) are used to check the hypothesis about the presence of a supermassive black hole at the Galactic Center.

Abstract We investigate the interior of the Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet charged black-hole with scalar hair. We find a variety of dynamical epochs, with the particular important feature that the Cauchy horizon is not present. This makes the violation of the no-hair theorem a possible tool to understand how might the strong cosmic censorship conjecture work.

Using the new normalized thermodynamic scalar curvature, we investigate the microstructures and phase transitions of black holes in massive gravity for horizons of various topologies. We find that the graviton mass enhances the repulsive interactions of small black holes and weakens the attractive interactions of large black holes, with possibility of new repulsive regions for microstructures in phase space. In addition, the repulsive interactions of small black hole are strong for spherical topology, followed by flat and hyperbolic topology; while, the attractive interactions of large black hole are strong for hyperbolic topology, followed by flat and weakest for spherical topology.

An experimental detection of graviton is extremely hard problem, however, there are different ways to evaluate a graviton mass if it is non-vanishing. Theories of massive gravity or theories with non-vanishing graviton mass initially have a number of pathologies such as discontinuities, ghosts etc. In last years theorists found ways to overcome weaknesses of such theories meanwhile observational features are also discussed. In the first publication reporting about the discovery of gravitational waves from the binary black hole system the LIGO-Virgo collaboration obtained the graviton mass constraint around [Formula: see text] eV (later the estimate was improved with new data). A comparable and consistent graviton mass constraint around [Formula: see text] eV has been obtained from analysis of the bright star S2 trajectory near the Galactic Center.

Abstract We study the interior of a recently constructed family of asymptotically flat, charged black holes that develop (charged) scalar hair as one increases their charge at fixed mass. Inside the horizon, these black holes resemble the interior of a holographic superconductor. There are analogs of the Josephson oscillations of the scalar field, and the final Kasner singularity depends very sensitively on the black hole parameters near the onset of the instability. In an appendix, we give a general argument that Cauchy horizons cannot exist in a large class of stationary black holes with scalar hair.

We generalize the holographic superconductor model with dark matter sector by including the Stückelberg mechanism in the four-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) black hole background away from the probe limit. We study effects of the dark matter sector on the [Formula: see text]-wave scalar condensation and find that the dark matter sector affects the critical phase transition temperature and also the order of phase transitions. At last, we conclude that the dark matter sector brings richer physics in this general metal/superconductor system.
