The development of computerized technology has transformed teaching and learning scenarios in the classroom. It has become essential learning tool to improve and enhance the quality of teaching and learning process. Thus, the quality of teaching and learning for religious classes Fardhu Ain (KAFA) should be upgraded too through computerised information visualization technology. This research aims to design a computerized information visualization for KAFA class especially for UPKK exams. Then, this courseware will be assessed through perceptions of students and teachers based on four aspects namely the design, ease of use, compatibility of information and satisfaction. This study was combines three methodologies, qualitative, quantitative and product development designs. While the study product development will use ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluation) approach which is for instructional technology in the production of educational products. The results indicated that students and teachers accept this courseware in the form of its design, ease of use, compatibility of information and satisfaction of use. Hence, advanced studies in context of the development of teaching and learning in KAFA class can still be explored in the future to ensure a better quality of KAFA education.

Aiming at rapid response to requirements of mechanical transmission products customization, a system for rapid locking assembly variant design was proposed in terms of features of locking assembly. The bases of the system are Product Configuration Model (PCM) and Case-Based Reasoning (CBR). According to the system, PCM of locking assembly was built by extending traditional Generic Bill of Materials (GBOM). In addition, integration of PCM and CBR was completed by combining method of transforming PCM to a case with similarity assessment algorithm. Moreover, a rapid variant design software system based on PCM and CBR for locking assembly was developed. Finally, the software system was applied to design new locking assembly. Results demonstrate that it is effective for PCM-CBR to support rapid response to customization.

Design resources reuse is very important to the rapid response design. In this paper, a design resources reusable model based on product family is established to meet the rapid response design. Firstly, parameters transmission structure of product family is constructed based on Generic Bill of Materials (GBOM) and product master model, and then the reused design resource library is established by the instantiation to master model. Finally product configuration management and variant design is realized on the basis of the reused design resource library. In the developing process of the rapid response design system of machine tool component, the Linear Motion (LM) rolling guide variant design subsystem is developed by the application of the above methods to realize the variant design and configuration management of LM rolling guide. The result shows that the method can provide a reliable guarantee for establishment and effective management of corporate design resource base.

Product configurator, as an effective tool in mapping customer requirements with company’s existing product attributes, enables customers’ satisfaction and companies’ competitiveness in a cost-efficient way. However, with the tendency towards mass personalization, customers are not only just selecting from each company’s own options in a ‘configure-to-order’ model, but also more actively involved in the product development process to create their own individualized products in an ‘engineer-to-order’ model. Besides, the existing configurators generally apply the same matching procedures to all the customers in the same sequential way, which is tedious and time consuming, especially for the complicated product configuration. Aiming to solve these problems, this paper proposes a personalized product configuration process to determine design attributes in a cloud-based environment, which is based on two assumptions: 1) products need to be adaptable enough for configuration; 2) customers prefer to develop new designs from the existing products in a tangible or visualized way other than design from scratch. The proposed process is capable of handling personalized requirements by adding new modules or upgrading design attributes in the existing product family. An illustrative example shows its advantages in customer-centric product development process.

To solve the problem such as large amounts of repeated designs and long design cycle in the traditional design process of crane, by analyzed the current variant design methods, a product-level variant design method was presented based on product configuration technology, parametric design technology and modular product design. The theory and the flow of variant design were explained in detail. A variant design platform for portal crane was developed. Based on making the best of enterprise resource, the product design efficiency was improved and the cost of the production reduced.

Frugal innovation is considered as a disruptive growth strategy for businesses that focuses on the utilization of limited resources of rural areas. Similarly, lean management targets to develop new products in accordance with the customer requirements while managing the wastage. The purpose of this chapter is to highlight a pathway to frugal product development through lean management experiences. This is particularly of interest to developing territories and rural areas due to their innate characteristics. The analysis highlighted that innovation ideas have high diffusion rates if the product configuration is properly conducted. Despite the common objectives of lean and frugal development, this chapter investigates distinguishing features and conducts a comparison of both methodologies in order to provide specific guidance for companies that follow lean management to capture the benefits of frugal product development.

In view of the dynamic change of customer requirements (CRs) during the process of product use, in this paper we propose a Bayesian Nash equilibrium configuration model for product variant design driven by CRs. By analyzing CRs, the complete variant requirements of the products can be obtained. Combined with modularization and parameterization variant design methods, a parametric variant instance is proposed. Since cost and delivery time are affected by the product variant design, firms and customers are established as two decision-making bodies, and Bayesian Nash theory is introduced to the product configuration. The theory takes the product cost and customer satisfaction as the payoff function of the game, and based on the threshold value search of the customer satisfaction it determines the strategy set of the two parties. The Nash equilibrium solution equation is established and solved by a simulated annealing algorithm. The optimal product configuration scheme satisfying the interests of both sides of the game is obtained. Finally, the automatic guided vehicle (AGV) is taken as an example to illustrate the effectiveness and practicability of the method.

Globalized market competition and the development of information technology have forced enterprises to adopt suitable products development models. It is a hot research topic and has a wide application prospect and practical value that how to do both to ensure internal product development in mass customization premise, but also to achieve inter-enterprise collaborative development network. In this paper, product modeling, collaborative product configuration method, the configuration process and the collaborative design of products were studied, collaborative product development system - CPDS collaborative product development system." Web-based was developed. In this article, the work form of collaborative product development system, configuration structures of CPDS, and function of composition were main studied, and the general idea of system implementation CPDS was given.

Product development teams sustain the level of ambiguity in product development projects through product configuration and project planning decisions. In this paper, we represent these decisions in terms of earliness, specificity and contingency of front-end activities and test their impact on project performance. We propose that product novelty mediates the impact of configuration and project decisions on performance. Our hypotheses are tested using data from a sample of radical and incremental product development projects. The results support a positive relation between earliness and contingency of front-end activities and development performance for incremental projects. Radical projects benefit from early milestones set during project planning.

With the wide application of MC (mass customization) in manufacturing which can deal with the customer diversification and their individual requirements, the traditional green design method could not meet the demand of product development any more. This paper summarized native and external achievements related to green design and MC, and proposed two correlation methods of product green design: product green design based on product configuration and variant design of product configuration, according to the research of green design method and theory for MC. The two methods provide strong support to enterprises both in theory and method to make green design efficiently. Whats more, it can help develop quick respond ability of enterprises, shorten the development cycle and product cycle, and realize rapid development and lot-size product.
