Abstract The Anthropological Theory of Didactics has been applied to the field of didactics of mathematics with remarkable success. Fluid Mechanics is a discipline with a strong mathematical background, where mathematics is used for modeling the continuous nature. In addition, the Fluid Mechanics concepts are essential for the future engineer or scientist. For this reason, it is worth thinking whether the content that developed in engineering schools or science faculties are those demanded by the future professionals. The analysis has been done within the context of a case study framed in the Spanish noosphere, more particularly Universities and Companies. In this direction, the objective of this article is to know the institutional distance between the University and society as a demander of technologies based on Fluid Mechanics. To this end, the methodology based on the issuance of a questionnaire to experts focused on aspects such as present and emerging content associated with the Fluid Mechanics of an engineering degree is used. Note that the number of experts selected is reduced so as to consider the study as a sourcing for introducing expert thoughts on the fluid mechanics conception between university and companies. The results highlight the existence of an institutional distance between the University and the Enterprise (as a technology executor) in the conception of contents, thus establishing an area of potential improvement within the noosphere associated with fluid mechanics in Spain. Highlights Questionnaire to experts to understand the current institutional relations between University and Company in the Spanish system. Application of the Anthropological Theory of Didactics (ATD) techniques to Fluid Mechanics. Confirmation of an institutional distance between University and Companies in Fluid Mechanics conceptions.

AbstractThis work fits within a wider research whose general objective is teaching mathematics to non-mathematicians at the university, taking central assumptions of the Anthropological Theory of Didactics. This work proposes a praxeological model of reference related to a micro-entrepreneurship costs calculation. The generative question How to calculate micro-entrepreneurship costs? links mathematical and economic praxeologies. This model allows to go through a part of the study programme of a university calculus course. Keywords: Anthropological theory of the didactic; Course of study and research; Praxeological Reference Model.RésuméCe travail fait partie d’une recherche plus large dont l’objectif général est l’enseignement des mathématiques pour non-mathématiciens à l’université dans le cadre de la Théorie Anthropologique du Didactique. It is an indisputable fact that technology is a part of our lives. It is known that research and education technologies are concentrated. By examining the articles and dissertations published in the field, the scope, strengths and weaknesses of the studies were determined. An important gap has been filled in to guide researches what kind of studies may be needed in the future. Many studies for this purpose were found in the literature. However, since similar studies dealing with educational technologies are outdated, this study is considered important in terms of gathering current research trends and results. The aim of this study is to analyse the articles published in the Scopus database on educational technologies and instructional technologies, thematically and methodologically. The study was designed by adopting a case study from qualitative research models. The sample has not been determined for postgraduate dissertations to be included in the study, and it was aimed to reach the whole universe. In this context, all articles have been accessed through the library system of the university in the Scopus database included. The keywords ‘educational technologies’ and ‘instructional technologies’ were used in the article search. The document types have been examined by year, by country, by authors, by field research and by place of publication.

There is a need for Universities to encourage the continuing development of administrative skills among faculty in order to meet the challenges of the future. National and university initiatives have been developed to recognize this need. This sabbatic leave was developed to provide a significant, active, and meaningful administrative experience in the Office of the Dean at the University of Rhode Island. This paper presents information on the structure, activities and involvement; and benefits to the participating faculty member, administrator, and institutions. The case study presented was both worthwhile and enriching for the participants, and strengthening for the sponsoring institutions.

The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in higher education has created totally a new environment which is fundamentally different from the traditional learning methods. The objectives of the study were to get the view of the University Grants Commission (UGC) about e-learning system and to investigate the possibilities of formalizing its implementation in the universities in future. As it is an exploratory study, the case study method was deemed appropriate. The result of the study shows that the UGC is favorable on the implementation of a campus-wide e-learning system in all universities. Though there is no formal policy on the embarkation of e-learning mode so far, it encourages the universities to adopt the system. This paper has also highlighted the possible areas for the early implementation of the e-learning mode and other requirements that should be considered for the future adoption of e-learning system.

The article raises topical issues related to the university of the future, which will be based on university consortia and alliances actively created around the world. This trend will ultimately provide an opportunity to build a platform for a single educational space, which will contribute to the development of civil dialogue between societies of different countries. A project related to the expansion of bilateral Russian-Spanish cooperation in the field of education was examined, opening up new prospects for academic development for universities in both countries: the Alliance of Russian and Spanish Universities. The author emphasizes the need to achieve higher levels of implementation of the processes of internationalization of modern higher education, revision of the criteria for the development of educational systems, the combination of which will offer future generations improved learning formats that meet the needs of young generations of today. It is noted that the formation of professional skills and personal qualities in the learning process at the higher education level poses the task of training international experts who are able to conduct a constructive dialogue based on the acceptance of differences and the ability to find interaction points for cooperation on mutually beneficial parity principles. The ability to think and make effective decisions, promote national interests in the international arena, understand the mentalities of the peoples of other countries are the distinctive qualities of professionals - graduates of the university of the future. The desire for unification, and not for separation, is one of the principles of existence that will allow humanity to successfully develop for the good and in the name of the bright principles of tomorrow.

The transformation of the model of university organization, with the passage of the traditional system of chairs to departmental, began in Spain in the mid-sixties. The educational policy of the regime, taking as reference foreign models such as the German or Anglo- Saxon, introduces via regulations, which are not real and operative, the bases of the new model through the Law of July 17, 1965 on the structure of university faculties and their teaching staff. This article analyses and discusses that initial process of gestation and insertion of the department as a new structure of the hierarchical-administrative organization of the institution, taking the University of Salamanca as an excellent illustration of this case study. For this, the historical method and unpublished printed sources are used – minutes of the Council of Rectors, of Faculty Meetings, correspondence, etc. – as well as legislative sources, which provide us with the basic normative frame of reference. All this allows us to review the main legal milestones and some of the most relevant events that take place prior and subsequent approval of the departmental system, issues that will reveal motivations, points of view and tensions generated among the body of professors before the loss of chairs turned into authentic bastions.

The in house development of an online assessment tool, OASIS, has provided a unique opportunity to research the use of online assessment in teaching and learning across the university. The developing relationship between IT staff, educational designers and academics serves as a model for integrated and evolving management systems which demonstrate how academic research is informing improvements in applying educational technology. A framework, theBridge Support Framework for Online Learning, is proposed for the support and implementation of online learning systems. A case study in online assessment in a microeconomics subject describes the development of this framework in response to a 'systems' failure when using the online assessment software tool during a major assessment event for a large external student cohort. As the university moves towards an open source learning management system for 2008, the range of online assessment methods will increase. It is here that our case study and the proposed Bridge Support Framework have potential value in learning from history to improve processes and procedures for the future.

Education is the most successful strategy for a country's growth and development. It is widely agreed that it is the most effective means that society possesses for dealing with the challenges of the future. Nevertheless, higher education has been confronted and needs, therefore, to redefine its historic role as the center of universal knowledge and understanding. This chapter analyzes the importance of internationalization on higher education institutions and enable us to better understand how they are changing as a consequence of the globalization process. Using the University of Aveiro as a case study, we will be studying what internationalization is in a higher education context and which rationales, approaches, and activities are associated with the internationalization process. Furthermore, the appropriateness of theories of internationalization specifically developed for business contexts will be portrayed at the end of the chapter.
