Herein, a relatively rare case is reported in which a knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) health education model was applied in a young female patient with metabolic syndrome (MS) and acute pancreatitis (AP), with a satisfactory effect. The purpose of this report is to provide a reference for a viable health education program in clinical practice for intervention of MS with concurrent AP in the absence of clinical trials. The patient’s unhealthy lifestyle led to obesity, diabetes mellitus, severe fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, and AP. We used a KAP health education model in a nursing intervention and evidence-based multidisciplinary cooperation to develop a personalized diet, exercise plan, education plan, and continuous care of the patient after discharge from the hospital. Within 2 months, the patient achieved weight loss, stable blood lipids, controlled blood sugar levels, and decreased glycated hemoglobin level from 9.0% to 5.4%. This KAP-based health education model has clinical importance as an intervention for lifestyle modification in patients with MS and AP. This approach can be adopted to help other patients to effectively control and prevent the recurrence of diseases.

Este estudo tem como objetivo descrever a experiência do desenvolvimento de um projeto de extensão mediado pela implementação de uma tecnologia audiovisual, como recurso para intervenção educativa de enfermagem. Trata-se de um relato de experiência procedente de um projeto de extensão intitulado “Educação em saúde com famílias de pessoas portadoras de colostomia no pós-operatório, por meio de um vídeo educativo”, que intencionou desenvolver ações de educação em saúde a partir da utilização de um vídeo, como subsídio para preparo da alta hospitalar de pacientes submetidos a cirurgia de confecção de estoma intestinal. As atividades, até o momento, alcançaram 104 participantes, sendo desenvolvidas de forma personalizada, conforme a realidade e singularidade trazidas por cada paciente e familiar e/ou cuidador, incentivando-os a serem sujeitos ativos no seu processo terapêutico, e salientando a importância da família como fonte de apoio. A utilização da tecnologia educativa facilitou o desenvolvimento de conhecimentos e habilidades para o cuidado e autocuidado do estoma e equipamento coletor, e permitiu contextualizar informações e orientações essenciais para a alta hospitalar, favorecendo o regresso ao domicílio e a continuidade do cuidado. The article is an experience report originated from a project entitled “Health education with families of people with colostomy in the postoperative period, through an educational video”, which intended to develop health education actions based on the use of a video as a subsidy to prepare hospital discharge for patients who underwent bowel surgery. The activities, so far, reached 104 participants, being developed in a personalized way, according to the reality and uniqueness brought by each patient and family member and / or caregiver, encouraging them to be an active subject in their therapeutic process and emphasizing the importance of the family as a source of support. The use of educational technology facilitated the development of knowledge and skills for the care and self-care of stoma and collection equipment and allowed to contextualize essential information and guidelines for hospital discharge, favoring returning to the home and the continuity of care. Objective: To explore the effects of health education based on mobile platform on cognitive function and quality of life of children with pneumonia. Methods: Eighty parents with pneumonia admitted to our hospital from March 2018 to March 2020 were selected as the research subjects. The parents of the control group received routine nursing intervention, and the parents of the observation group received health education intervention based on the mobile platform. After nursing, the nursing effect of the two groups was compared. The cognitive function and quality of life of the two groups were compared after nursing. The time of cough, dyspnea, shortness of breath and lung rales were compared between the two groups. The incidence of rash, abdominal pain, dizziness and headache and parents' satisfaction with nursing were compared between the two groups. Results: Compared with the control group, the nursing effective rate of the observation group was significantly increased (P<0.05). The scores of cognitive function and quality of life in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the disappearance time of clinical symptoms in the observation group was significantly decreased (P<0.05). The satisfaction of parents in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Health education based on mobile platform can effectively improve the cognitive function and quality of life of children with pneumonia, contribute to the early recovery of children, and has high clinical application value.

Background: Not much is known about the impact of health education in reducing anxiety levels in pre-cataract surgery patients in Indonesia.Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of counseling and lecture methods using leaflet in reducing anxiety levels  among pre-cataract surgery patients in Central Java, Indonesia.Methods: This was quasi experiment with pretest- posttest design with two comparative groups at two hospitals in November 2014. It was 70 preoperative cataract patients selected using total sampling, which 35 randomly assigned to intervention group 1 and intervention group 2. The Analog Anxiety Scale (AAS) was used to measure anxiety levels. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test.Results: There was a significant effect of health education using counseling and lecture method with leaflet media in reducing anxiety levels among preoperative cataract patients (p=.001). A counseling method was more effective than lecture method in dealing with anxiety levels (p=.001).Conclusion: Findings of this study can be used as a basis for development of nursing intervention in the hospital setting to reduce the anxiety levels among pre-cataract surgery patients.

Objective. To explore the application of multimode health education combined with humanistic care in pain management of patients with femoral fracture and its influence on VAS score. Methods. A total of 120 patients with femoral fracture admitted in our hospital (May 2017–May 2021) were selected as the research objects. The patients who received routine health education were included into the routine group, and the patients who received multimode health education combined with humanistic care were included into the combined group, with 60 cases in each group. The pain management effect of the two groups was compared after nursing intervention. Results. No significant difference was found in age, BMI, fracture sites, gender, education degree, and residence between the two groups ( P  > 0.05). The awareness rate of health knowledge of the combined group was as high as 93.33%, which was obviously higher than that of the routine group ( P  < 0.05). Compared with the routine group, excellent rates of sitting durability and joint range of motion in the combined group were obviously higher ( P  < 0.05), and poor rates of sitting durability and joint range of motion in the combined group were obviously lower ( P  < 0.05). Compared with the routine group, VAS scores of the combined group at 1 d, 2 d, and 3 d after admission and at 1 d, 2 d, and 3 d after surgery were remarkably lower ( P  < 0.05). Compared with the routine group, compliance of exercise, medical waist belt using, and working posture of the combined group 1 week, 1 month, and 6 months after surgery was obviously higher ( P  < 0.05). Compared with the routine group, the scores of Rasmussen and Johner-Wruhs of the combined group 6 months after surgery were conspicuously higher ( P  < 0.05). Conclusion. The application of multimode health education combined with humanistic care in pain management of patients with femoral fracture can effectively relieve pain, improve the awareness rate of health knowledge, promote the recovery of lower limb function, and enhance the prognosis of quality of life for patients.

Adolescents are vulnerable to get anxiety and it can affect to substance use. Coping skill training and family health education are mental nursing intervention that is expected to overcome anxiety. The goals of the research to determine the influence of coping skill training and family health education against anxiety in Junior High School. The research design is quasi-experimental pre-posttest with control group and 87 students in Junior High School was chosen by using purposive sampling technique then continued with cluster random sampling. Respondents were divided into 2 groups. Group 1 get nursing intervention and group 2 get nursing intervention, coping skills training, and family health education. The results showed decrease of anxiety that not significant after nursing intervention (p value > 0.05), and significantly decrease of anxiety after the coping skill training and family health education (p value < 0,05). Coping skill training and family health education is recommended to decrease anxiety in adolescent.

Jumlah penyakit pneumonia pada balita terus meningkat setiap tahunnya termasuk di Puskesmas Pancoran Jakarta. Peran orang tua balita sangat penting untuk menekan jumlah pneumonia pada balita dan penatalaksanaan yang tepat. Pendidikan kesehatan tentang pneumonia pada orang tua dengan balita pneumonia sangat efektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan orang tua sehingga penatalaksanaan pneumonia pada balita tepat. Metode penelitian adalah quasi-experiment, pre-test and post-test design with control group. Terdapat 50 responden terbagi 2 kelompok. Kelompok eksperimen diberikan intervensi pendidikan kesehatan menggunakan media leaflet, sedangkan kelompok kontrol hanya mendapatkan pelayanan normal mengikuti program Puskesmas tanpa diberikan pendidikan kesehatan tentang pneumonia dengan menggunakan leaß et. Instrumen untuk mengukur tingkat pengetahuan responden adalah dengan menggunakan kuesioner tingkat pengetahuan tentang pneumonia yang diambil dan dimodifikasi oleh peneliti berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan tingkat pengetahuan antara kelompok eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan kesehatan tentang pneumonia dengan menggunakan leaflet (p<,05). Pendidikan kesehatan merupakan salah satu bentuk intervensi keperawatan yang dapat diaplikasikan di Puskesmas tidak hanya untuk pneumonia juga penyakit yang lainnya agar pasien dan keluarganya memahami dengan baik tentang penyakit ISPA / Pneumonia. Kata kunci: pendidikan kesehatan, leaß et, pneumonia, tingkat pengetahuan. The prevalence of pneumonia in babies was increase each year including in Pancoran Publich Health Centre, Jakarta. The role of parents is necessary to decrease it prevalence particularly in babies. Health education regarding pneumonia for parents who have babies with pneumonia was important to increase their knowledge regarding pneumonia so that the management of pneumonia in babies could be solved. The research method is a quasi-experimental study, pre-test and post-test design with control group. There were 50 respondents which assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group received a health education regarding pneumonia by using leaflet, whereas the control group only received the usual care from the Pancoran Public Health Centre. The instrument to measure the level of knowledge about pneumonia used pneumonia knowledge questionnaire which modiÞ ed from a previous study. The Þ ndings of this study showed that there was a signiÞ cance different regarding pneumonia knowledge between the experimental group and the control group before and after receiving the health education about pneumonia (p<,05). The health education is one of the nursing intervention which can be applied in Public Health Centre not only for pneumonia but also for other diseases in order to patients and their family are understand well regarding diseases.
