Theoretical and Methodological Rain for the Study of Vulnerable in Urban Environments: a Case Study of Urban Climate Duque de Caxias-RJ  ABSTRACT Today the sciences of weather and climate took center stage in the middle due to scientific issues and controversies about the current climate. The present work has as its theme, the concession policy and the general aspects of the ports. The methodology adopted in the formulation of this work was based on bibliographic research, through consultations with books, magazines, searching for manuals, treaties, articles published on the internet. In this sense, the general objective of this research seeks to present the development of the port system in Brazil. Thus, the specific objectives seek to present the history that surrounds the ports and their emergence, point out the types of existing ports as well as describe the Brazilian port system, address the main issues of the Brazilian port system and, finally, point out the legislative framework for development ports or operations. Finally, we understand the importance of such a theme, leaving the topic open, proposing that in the future a new bibliographic research should be carried out in order to contextualize the themes addressed here. Along with this new bibliographic review, it is suggested the development of a comparative case study between Brazilian ports, showing its importance and value for the Brazilian port economy.

Spatial modelling of flood-susceptible areas based on a hybrid multi-criteria model and Geographic Information System: a case study applied to the Bengalas River basin A B S T R A C TThe identification of areas susceptible to flooding is essential for disaster management and public policy making. The objective of this work is the presentation of a method for the identification of areas susceptible to floods through the integration of geographic information from Remote Sensing techniques, Geographic Information System (GIS) tools, Fuzzy logic and the application of Multicriteria Analysis Methods (MAM) Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). In order to achieve the objective, a case study was proposed, located in the Bengalas River Basin, in the municipalities of Nova Friburgo and Bom Jardim (Mountain Region of Rio de Janeiro). Multicriteria spatial modeling was performed by selecting a data set composed of geomorphological, hydrological and land use information. As a result, a flood susceptibility map was obtained for the region. The coherence of the generated model was verified from the flood history of the Bengalas River basin. The methodology was efficient and adequate for the determination of areas susceptible to floods, successfully predicting the spatial distribution of areas at risk of flooding. Keywords: flood susceptibility. ABSTRACT Favelas are low-income urban communities in Brazil, and Maré in Rio de Janeiro has the largest cluster of favelas in the country. The prevailing view of a unique, regulated, and normative city conflicts with the reality of the continued expansion of the favelas, posing challenges for architects and urban planners in developing new strategies for integrating informal areas with the main city. This study focused on a decaying industrial area adjacent to the Maré favelas and explored a sustainable path for improving both the quality of the built environment and the quality of life of the residents. Effective infrastructure and socioeconomic links between the favelas and the city were proposed. The home production model that emerged from the favelas inspired the use of the abandoned industrial area as a home-industry incubator. The study proposed an urban regeneration strategy involving a bottom-up industry-space process evolving from home industries to group industries, and finally to larger community industries. This strategy can accelerate Maré’s development and integration with the city of Rio de Janeiro.
