With increasing globalization and the integration of various economies, public finance and fiscal policy have acquired a new dimension in countries around the world, including India. This new era has witnessed a massive proliferation of various information and communication technologies (ICTs) the world over opening novel prospects for information storage, retrieval and analysis. Such novel prospects are not only being used for decision making by private sector industries but also more interest has been demonstrated in investing in technologies for public administration purposes. In the Indian context, the driving force behind an increasing use of ICTs for public administration include such objectives as improving and simplifying governance, instilling transparency and eliminating corruption and bureaucracy. The massive proliferation of ICTs in India has led to a transformation from traditional governance to e-governance. Several planning projects have been launched under the rubric of e-governance and have witnessed novel use of various information technologies, GIS being one of them. This study focuses on the Nirmala Nagara project (NNP), a programme launched by the Government of Karnataka to address issues of urban development using GIS with municipal e-governance being one of its key agendas. This is one of the most ambitious Municipal e-Governance projects in the country encompassing 213 urban local bodies. This article is an initial effort towards a larger project that will focus on the process of GIS spatial knowledge production situated in contemporary India.

In the new era, it is almost impossible to imagine a modern person without the information and communication technologies that fill his life. These technologies permeate all areas of activity, and education is no exception. Despite the huge number of research papers distributed on Twitter integrated into the fields of Education, there is a deficiency and lack of content analysis research papers. Thus, the search was conducted on the three major databases such as Web of Science, Scopus and the EBSCO with the keywords selected as “Twitter in Education”, the study thus was based on content analysis. All studies published on Web of Science, Scopus and the EBSCO were statistically analyzed according to the frequencies and percentages. The distribution of the studies was analyzed regarding the publication years, document type, subject areas, organizations, authors, languages, countries/territories, and the research methods. The findings of this study reveal the importance of Twitter in Education, especially in medicine, social sciences and computer sciences. The findings of this study also highlighted the considerable growth of popularity over the years.

This chapter presents the imperatives of mobile technologies in healthcare as these impact (or potentially) impact on development. It presents the contextual overview in development of the diffusion, penetration, and uptake of health-related mobile technologies. A consideration of the roles and responsibilities of the diaspora in the embracing of information and communication technologies is emphasized. The emphasis is on the impact of technologies, generally, and mobile technologies, specifically, in the global health context. The authors provide key exemplars of mobile technologies in development to increase understanding and demonstrate promising practices in this emergent field.

The SARS-COV-2 pandemic has placed the entire planet under a global health threat, but it has also provided a golden opportunity for us to make the digital transition. With the successive confinements and restrictions on circulation and communication to which we were subjected, we had to look for other models of relationships, work, and learning. In a few months, the Portuguese went from an essentially playful and informative use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to an intensive work, academic, and communicational use.

The Internet is one of the most sophisticated information and communication technologies currently available to society. It is also the necessary infrastructure for one of its largest and most wellknown applications: the Web, largely responsible for its popularization. The various information shared on the Internet are daily sources for various studies, foundations and decisions. However, despite the exponential growth of information available on the network, especially due to the democratization of the content creation process, the information is disorganized, incomplete and often inaccurate, making access and use difficult. In this context knowledge management, whose approach integrates the identification, creation, storage, sharing and application of knowledge to increase productivity, profitability and growth in organizations seems to influence the new era of WEB, WEB 3.0. Web 3.0 predicts that online content is organized in a semantic way, much more personalized for each user, intelligent websites and applications, and search and behavioral advertising. In this way, this article presents, from bibliographic research in secondary sources of data, the trends and challenges of WEB 3.0 in light of Knowledge Management, demonstrating their relationship and the importance of walking together

The use of information and communication technologies for health (eHealth) has great potential to provide global impact. It increases the involvement of healthcare consumers and improves knowledge dissemination to and from the health workforce. Additionally, it may contribute to incorporating evidence-based results to promote more efficient, safer, and more accessible healthcare, improving outcomes while reducing costs. Considering this background, the present chapter emphasizes contemporary initiatives such as D.Efficiency and Ask Dr. Giggles, which are focused on global health initiatives that employ communication and information technologies and social innovation, in addition to prioritizing the wellbeing of individuals in society. Therefore, it is hoped that this chapter provides further understanding of the phenomenon of social innovation in health, which has the potential to be used by large numbers of people, enhance equity in access to qualified information, and provide opportunities to address other social determinants of health.

At the beginning of the 21st century in a world dominated by technology it is essential to enhance and update the school, creating conditions for the students to succeed, consolidating the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a key resource for learning and teaching in this new era. In this chapter we will describe a study that was carried out in a Portuguese school. As a means to overcome some of the existing logistical obstacles in the school, where the possibility of carrying out ICT activities without restrictions was still dreamlike, the podcast was implemented as an m-learning tool. Being aware of the fact that nowadays mobile phones and mp3 players are part of our students’ lives, we took advantage of this fact and the podcast was used as a tool to support, to enhance and to motivate students to learn English, used thus as a complement to traditional (face-to-face) learning.
