With the development of economic globalization, some local environmental pollution has become a global environmental problem through international trade and transnational investment. This paper selects the annual data of 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2017 and adopts exploratory spatial data analysis methods to explore the spatial agglomeration characteristics of haze pollution in China’s provinces. Furthermore, this paper constructs a spatial econometric model to test the impact of foreign direct investment (FDI) and industrial structure transformation on haze pollution. The research results show that the high-high concentration area of haze pollution in China has shifted from the central and western regions to the eastern region and from inland regions to coastal regions. When FDI increases by 1%, haze pollution in local and neighboring areas will be reduced by 0.066% and 0.3538%, respectively. However, the impact of FDI on haze pollution is heterogeneous in different stages of economic development. FDI can improve the rationalization level of industrial structure, and then inhibit the haze pollution. However, FDI inhibits the upgrading level of industrial structure to a certain extent, and then aggravates the haze pollution. The research in this paper provides an important decision-making basis for coordinating the relationship between FDI and environmental pollution and realizing green development.

The water quality of six important rivers in Haihe River Basin, including Yongding River, Luanhe River, North Canal, Daqing River, South Canal and Chaobai River, was evaluated. The influence of point source and non-point source on water quality was analyzed. The causes of water environmental pollution in the major rivers were preliminarily revealed. The results show that the water quality of Chaobai River is good, and the impact of point source and non-point source discharge on the water body is small. Other rivers are affected by different degrees of point source and non-point source pollution. Based on the analysis results, the engineering measures and management countermeasures for river regulation are put forward.

Due to their unique properties, perfluorinated substances (PFAS) are widely used in multiple industrial and commercial applications, but they are toxic for animals, humans included. This review presents some available data on the PFAS environmental distribution in the world, and in particular in Europe and in Veneto region of Italy, where it has become a serious problem for human health. The consumption of contaminated food and drinking water is considered one of the major source of exposure for humans. Worldwide epidemiological studies report the negative effects that PFAS have on human health, due to environmental pollution, including infertility, steroid hormone perturbation, thyroid, liver and kidney disorders and metabolic disfunctions. In vitro and in vivo researches correlated PFAS exposure to oxidative stress effects (in mammals as well as in other vertebrates of human interest), produced by a PFAS-induced increase of reactive oxygen species formation. The cellular antioxidant defense system is activated by PFAS, but it is only partially able to avoid the oxidative damage to biomolecules.

Abstract Our research deals with environmental pollution, sustainability, and the impacts made by international cosmetic companies on the motivation of purchasing organic cosmetics. Unfortunately, our environment is becoming more and more polluted, which affects our planet Earth on a global scale. It is everybody’s responsibility to decrease the environmental load, diminish our ecological footprint and leave a much cleaner and safer environment to the future generation in line with the principles of sustainable development. We have examined global environmental problems, the efforts made by international cosmetic companies to protect the environment and their impact on the preference, selection and purchase of environmentally friendly cosmetics. Nowadays, efforts of significant importance are prioritised that are more and more shifted to health and environmental consciousness regarding both corporate and consumer behaviour.

With the introduction of new farming techniques and methods, the agrarian sector should be transformed into economically and environmentally friendly way. The Bulgarian districts are 28 and most of them are rural that contribute to the Bulgarian economy with GDP from agricultural products. The main aim of the study is to reveal the connection between the agrarian indicators GDP from agriculture and utilized agricultural area and their impact on the level of environmental pollution. The set up tasks are as follows: 1) Literature findings of the connection between agriculture and environmental pollution; 2) Methodology based on correlation, regression and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) of the impact on GDP from agriculture and environmental pollution; 3) Main findings, recommendations and conclusions. The results are part of scientific project DN 15/8 2017 “Sustainable multifunctional rural areas: reconsidering agricultural models and systems with increased demands and limited resources”, funded by the Bulgarian science fund.

After the airport is put into operation, a large amount of wastes generated every day will bring waste disposal pressure and ecological environment pressure to the airport and surrounding areas. This article expounds the current methods of airport waste disposal. According to the principle of waste reduction, harmless and reclamation, a set of solid waste gasification methods suitable for airports are proposed, which can reduce waste transportation and landfill costs, effectively control the impact of environmental pollution. At the same time, it can use waste heat to generate electricity to turn wastes into treasure and promote green airport construction.

Previous studies show that the environmental quality is significantly influenced by corruption and the hidden economy separately. However, what is the impact of their interaction effect on environmental quality? Based on Multiple Indicators Multiple Causes (MIMIC) model, this study calculates the scale of hidden economy in Chinese provinces firstly. Then, we apply the method of spatial econometrics to analyze the interaction effect of corruption and the hidden economy on environmental pollution with China’s provincial panel data from 1998 to 2017. The results indicate that the interaction effect between corruption and hidden economy significantly increases pollutant discharge, suggesting that both anti-corruption and control of the hidden economy may improve environmental quality directly and indirectly.
