L10 ordered FePt and FePtCu nanoparticles (NPs) with a good dispersion were successfully fabricated by a simple, green, one-step solid-phase reduction method. Fe (acac)3, Pt (acac)2, and CuO as the precursors were dispersed in NaCl and annealed at different temperatures with an H2-containing atmosphere. As the annealing temperature increased, the chemical order parameter (S), average particle size (D), coercivity (Hc), and saturation magnetization (Ms) of FePt and FePtCu NPs increased and the size distribution range of the particles became wider. The ordered degree, D, Hc, and Ms of FePt NPs were greatly improved by adding 5% Cu. The highest S, D, Hc, and Ms were obtained when FePtCu NPs annealed at 750 °C, which were 0.91, 4.87 nm, 12,200 Oe, and 23.38 emu/g, respectively. The structure and magnetic properties of FePt and FePtCu NPs at different annealing temperatures were investigated and the formation mechanism of FePt and FePtCu NPs were discussed in detail.

Abstract We describe an immunofluorometric assay for prolactin based on lanthanide labeling of a monoclonal antibody and measuring time-resolved fluorescence. In this "sandwich"-type assay, the label (Eu3+) was bound to the second antibody by means of a simple, rapid method involving the anhydride of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid. To measure the photoluminescence of europium (or other lanthanides), we have developed a time-resolved fluorometer with a nitrogen laser as the pulsed excitation source. During the assay, the solid-phase antibody immobilized inside a polystyrene tube is incubated with the plasma sample and the second antibody in a one-step procedure. Results for 67 human plasmas correlated well (r = 0.98) with those by an immunoradiometric method.

Abstract We measured concentrations of free thyroxin (FT4) in serum by using two new two-step FT4 assays--a solid-phase two-step radioimmunoassay. Spectria, and a time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay. Delfia--and compared the results with those by a two-step FT4 assay (RIA-gnost), a one-step FT4 analog assay (Amerlex-M), and FT4 measured after equilibrium dialysis. The new FT4 assays classified 30 hypothyroid and 43 hyperthyroid patients (untreated) well. In 138 patients with nonthyroidal illness (NTI) and in late pregnancy (n = 36), fewer subnormal FT4 values were reported by Spectria (P less than 0.001), Delfia (P less than 0.001), and RIA-gnost (P less than 0.01) than by Amerlex-M. The results of the Spectria and Delfia methods correlated with the results of the dialysis method (r = 0.76) in NTI patients and pregnancy, and were in better agreement with the clinical state than was FT4 by Amerlex-M. The FT4 values by Amerlex-M, but not by other methods, correlated with albumin concentration. We conclude that these new two-step methods present good alternatives for FT4 analysis.

A solid phase method is described for the synthesis of O- phosphoseryl-containing peptides by the use of polystyrene resin (Merrifield) as the peptide support and protected Boc-Ser(PO3R2)-OH derivatives for the incorporation of the phosphorylated seryl residue. The viability of this solid phase approach was demonstrated by the synthesis of HBr.H-Glu-Ser (PO3Et2)-Leu-OH in high yield by the use of Bo -Ser(PO3Et2)-OH in peptide synthesis and subsequent use of HBr/CF3CO2H for cleavage of the Ser(PO3Et2)-containing tripeptide from the resin support. Similarly, the dipeptide, CF3CO2H.H-Ser(P)- Leu -OH, was prepared in high yield by using Boc -Ser(PO3But2)-OH in peptide synthesis followed by the one-step deprotection of the Ser(PO3But2)- dipeptide resin by treatment with HBr/CF3CO2H (90 min). Alternatively, the O-phosphoseryl tripeptide , CF3CO2H.H-Glu-Ser(P)- Leu -OH was prepared by using either Ppoc -Ser(PO3Bzl2)-OH or Boc-Ser(PO3Ph2)-OH in peptide synthesis. The one-step deprotection of the Ser(PO3Bzl2)-containing tripeptide and cleavage of the peptide from the resin support was effected by high-pressure hydrogenolysis (palladium acetate). In the case of phenyl phosphate protection, the Ser(PO3Ph2)-containing peptide was cleaved from the resin support by high-pressure hydrogenolysis (palladium acetate) followed by cleavage of the phenyl phosphate groups by platinum-mediated hydrogenolysis (1.0 equiv. PtO2/phenyl group) in 50% CF3CO2H/AcOH.

An elastic cylindrical three-dimensional porous spongy graphene rod (3D-PSGR) was synthesized by a facile one-step hydrothermal method and applied in a syringe system as a solid phase adsorbent for the extraction of nine trace bisphenol analogs (BPs) from environmental samples.
