This article presents the results of the exploratory pre-experimental evaluation process of design and didactic development of three subjects using the semi-distance learning model or blended learning, through a pilot application plan in bachelor’s degrees of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. First, the blended learning model was applied. Later, scientific information was collected through a survey of students, a panel discussion with teachers, and an analysis of the contents of the study programs. The results show that the interaction between students and teachers increases through their favorite activities such as forums and tasks, which strengthen the individual and collaborative work and the reflective analysis, aspects that favor building learnings. Various lines of research arise from this study; they are necessary to go in depth, specifically, in quasi-experimental studies. Some of these lines are the following: to show the assumptions of the blended learning and educational factors that favor the development of meaningful learning for the student; to determine what the cognitive processes, carried out in mixed learning environments, are; and to test the positive relationship between the student’s academic performance and the semi-distance didactics.

A lot of educational institutions are facing the problem in conducting the physical classes due to COVID-19 pandemic recently. Therefore, most of the medium of teaching has been changed from a face-to-face method to online teaching. These changes may create some challenges to the students as well as the teachers or lecturers. In fact, different learning methods have their own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the preference of E-learning method among the undergraduate students based on multiple criteria. This study determines the priority of decision criteria in the selection of learning methods among the undergraduate students using Analytic Hierarchy Process-VIseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (AHP-VIKOR) model. The decision criteria that considered in this study are quality management system, information quality, flexibility, learning and teaching as well as attractiveness. Besides, blended learning, distance learning, and e-learning are identified as the alternatives of the learning methods as well as the most preferred learning method is determined in this study. The results of this study show that the most preferred learning method among undergraduate students is E-learning, followed by distance learning, and finally blended learning. Flexibility, information quality, and quality management system are ranked as the top three influential decision criteria. The significance of this study is to determine the most preferred learning method as well as the most influential decision criteria in the selection of learning methods among undergraduate students with AHP-VIKOR model.

The article is aimed at exploring the theoretical aspects of the essence of management of capital structure quality. The peculiarities of philosophical, social, technical, engineering, economic and legal approaches to the essence of the concept of «quality» are defined. In the course of the carried out analysis, systematization and generalization of the works of both domestic and foreign scholars, the evolution of approaches to defining the essence of the concept of «quality» was considered. The signs characterizing it are determined as follows: compliance with the goal, degree of customer satisfaction, accuracy in the implementation of the specification project, compliance with norms, degree of perfection. As a result, the author has formed his own vision regarding the essence of quality as an aggregate of characteristics and properties of an object or process that is in full measure capable of satisfying the consumer and fully meeting his needs or expectations. The following instruments for quality management are considered: statistical quality control, possibility of evaluation process, control diagrams. The logic of formation of the essence of quality management based on studying and systematizing the existing concepts, theories and practices of quality management is substantiated. It is determined that quality management is an aggregate of measures directed towards increasing the level of competitiveness of a product, service or organization in the market through continuous training of managers of an economic entity. A morphological analysis of the concept of «capital structure» was carried out, on the basis of which the essence of this concept was defined as the ratio of components of capital formed in accordance with the needs of the enterprise, which ensures the enterprise to obtain the maximum effect from the invested resources, increase in the cost of capital and profitability of activities, reduce risk in the process of achieving strategic goals. It is proved that the enterprise’s qualitative capital structure provides the necessary level of financial sustainability of the enterprise.

BACKGROUND This paper has shown the results derived from the implementation of two editions of a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) that focused on the use and application of technology resources, most of which were free, to promote participation and intervention amongst people with disabilities. That is the only one MOOC focused on providing information to professionals about different tools to promote technology’s participation of people with disabilities. The study provides initial evidence of the rates for a MOOC with blended learning and tips to motivate the participants. OBJECTIVE The goals were (a) to describe the profile of person enrolled on a MOOC based on promoting the participation of people with disabilities, and (b) to analyse the behavior and progression of participants in the MOOC and their satisfaction with the educational resources provided. METHODS The MOOC was implemented using the tools of the MIRIADAX platform. This allowed the incorporation of plain text, multimedia resources (self-recording videos), links to complementary information, and an evaluation process. The study design was based on quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data from the two questionnaires and from MIRIADAX were analysed using various statistical methods. As has been noted, the MOOC had two editions. RESULTS Both editions had 1440 persons enrolled, but the course was completed by 254 participants in the first edition and 195 in the second one. The rates of completion were high relative to other courses, with 42.83%, and 51.31%. The general participant profile was that of a woman between the ages of 25 and 34, living in Spain, and studying at university. High quality of learning resources, blended learning and weekly challenges to promote participation were the main factors for the success of this MOOC. CONCLUSIONS Features of an Effective MOOC were identified: Topic of interest, Quality multimedia resources, Complementary documentation, Promotion of student participation, Straightforward ways to evaluate the participants, Duration of the MOOC. The analysis of results and comparison with previous research have enabled some key conclusions to be drawn and considered when designing, editing, and implementing successful MOOCs in the future.

The purpose of this chapter is to describe the design, implementation and evaluation of a professional development program for teachers initiated by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in cooperation with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The course focused on multicultural education and bullying in schools as it was realized through blended learning whereas the methodology applied was a face-to-face meeting and 250-hour web-based learning. The evaluation process aimed to involved teachers’ perceptions toward different aspects of the blended training process. The quantitative and qualitative results indicate that the teachers were satisfied both with the opportunity to learn at home at their own pace as with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in relation to their work. The results brought to light arguments, controversies, and problems related to the course. Finally, some recommendations that would improve the effectiveness of courses employing blended learning methodologies are given.
