This essay provides a brief sketch of continuity and change in the study of political elites and institutions in the PRC. Rather than a full literature review, it offers only a few illustrative references to some prominent scholarship. The first sections contain an extended discussion of the study of political elites and institutions in China, considering the way recent work resembles or differs from earlier work on the subject. This is followed by brief suggestions of several reasons for some of the changes in current scholarship. Finally, some implications for the research agenda in the coming years are offered.

The main purpose of this paper is to present what the Industry 5.0 phenomenon means in the supply chain context. A systematic literature review method was used to get evidence from the current knowledge linked to this theme. The results have evidenced a strong gap related to Industry 5.0 approaches for the supply chain field. Forty-one (41) publications, including conference and journal papers, have been found in the literature. Nineteen (19) words, which were grouped in four (4) clusters, have been identified in the data analysis. This was the basis to form the four (4) constructs of Industry 5.0: Industry Strategy, Innovation and Technologies, Society and Sustainability, and Transition Issues. Then, an alignment with the supply chain context was proposed, being the basis for the incipient Supply Chain 5.0 framework and its research agenda. Industry 5.0 is still in an embryonic and ideal stage. The literature is scarce and many other concepts and discoveries are going to emerge. Although this literature review is based on few available sources, it provides insightful and novel concepts related to Industry 5.0 in the supply chain context. Moreover, it presents a clear set of constructs and a structured research agenda to encourage researchers in deploying further conceptual and empirical works linked to the subject herein explored. Organizations’ leadership, policymakers, and other practitioners involved in supply chains, and mainly those currently working with Industry 4.0 initiatives, can benefit from this research by having clear guidance regarding the dimensions needed to structurally design and implement an Industry 5.0 strategy. This article adds valuable insights to researchers and practitioners, by approaching the newest and revolutionary concept of the Industry 5.0 phenomenon in the supply chain context, which is still an unexplored theme.

It has been known for some time that the torsional vibration of reciprocating engines and pumps cannot be modelled accurately by representing the reciprocating mechanism by a constant inertia. There have been many publications describing better models than those that use constant inertia and these indicate that the effective inertia of a reciprocating mechanism varies with angular position. The major component of this variation is a twice per revolution cyclic effect—hence the term ‘secondary inertia’. The consequences of this secondary inertia effect can be serious for torsional vibration causing ‘secondary resonance,’ and even instability. This paper contains a review of the current literature on the subject and introduces some recent work by the authors.

The purpose of this article is to provide an in-depth overview of the scientific literature pertaining to the Human Brand (HB) and to highlight research opportunities based on trends and gaps identified over the course of our study. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) examining a total of 3910 articles containing the keywords "personal brand" OR "personal brands" OR "personal branding" OR "human brand" OR "human brands" OR "human branding" OR "influencer*" published between 2006 and 2019. We analysed these documentary sources according to our criteria of inclusion and exclusion, then selected 101 articles from 77 different scientific journals. Based on our results, the artistic industry represents the most studied industry and, it is the influencer which prevails as the most studied type of HB. In addition, influencer identification on social media represents the most studied subject. The contribution of this article is twofold. First, we present a comprehensive research agenda for potential future studies in this academic field. Secondly, to our knowledge, this is the first SLR focusing on the HB. Based on the existing literature, we offer an overview of past research while providing findings contributing to a better theoretical and contextual understanding of the subject of interest.

There are many aspects of nineteenth-century violin playing that have received little attention from scholars. The subject is a vast and complicated one, far beyond the scope of a short article to treat adequately, but there are a number of important areas in which problems have not even been recognized, let alone investigated. For instance, the most substantial recent work on this subject, Robin Stowell's Violin Technique and Performance Practice in the Late Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries (Cambridge, 1985), provides a useful digest of what the major violin methods of the period say, but because it is mainly confined to these sources, ignoring for the most part journalism and other contemporary accounts, and because it has a rather artificial terminal date of 1840, it fails to illuminate major underlying patterns of continuity and change in nineteenth-century violin playing. It may be valuable, therefore, to put forward a few ideas and suggest a few fruitful lines of enquiry which have until now remained largely unconsidered.

Computers are changing the way we communicate. Examples of new communication patterns abound, supported by variousoften conflictingtheories. This paper examines how electronic mail, in particular, may be changing the way we write. Included is discussion of an original study which sought to clarify some of the conflicting theories. The literature review and the results of the study, although tentative, provide a research agenda and useful findings for application to organizations.

It is not infrequently in the evolution of a scientific problem that the following course of events is observed. First, there is a preconceived notion about the way in which a certain phenomenon should occur. Next, this idea is rather rudely dispelled by experiments which reveal all sorts of unsuspected complexities. The subject seems to become more and more difficult and stimulates a good deal of effort and contributions from many sides. At this stage the clearest way of treating the matter is usually to approach it historically, or at any rate analytically, and even then expositions of it usually give the impression of being accessible only to specialists. Gradually, however, things clarify, the complexities seem in an increasing degree to assume the guise of details which can be derived as consequences from the general theory, and a synthetic treatment becomes possible. In the light of all the intervening work it almost appears as though everything could, from the start, have been deduced from first principles. Although this appearance may from one point of view be illusory, it is none the less a sign that the task is approaching completion. In the development of modern ideas on chemical kinetics the study of gaseous reactions has played an interesting part. Many unexpected and sometimes disconcerting observations have shown that the kind of relations which might have been assumed in the light of the earlier ideas do not exist, and yet one begins to see that the tangle of facts has after all a coherence of its own, though quite different from what was first imagined.

Plagiarism is an endemic problem in contemporary society, it is present in the various fields of the community and scientific research is no exception. In the field of sports research, the number of bad practices has gradually increased, contrary to all ethical assumptions. A large number of activities have been developed in institutions and countries in order to counter the phenomenon, however, the problem prevails, inside and outside science, in academia, by students and researchers. The aim of the present study was to develop a literature review about plagiarism, the problems that the subject raises in scientific research in the area of sports sciences and the way in which it can be fought. Different databases were consulted, such as the Web of Science, SCOPUS, MEDLINE/PubMed and Google Scholar. The literature review and analysis were carried out and completed during October 2020. Plagiarism was cited as the main reason for retractions in sports science magazines. The lack of training and the desire to obtain excellent curricula are perceived as reasons that lead to the practice of misconduct. Plagiarism in scientific research, nowadays, is a worrying reality, so it is necessary to try to mitigate the phenomenon, especially in the area of sports sciences, an area with little tradition. This article deals with one of the darkest chapters in the history of popular music: the way in which it was pressed into the service of the cynical and ultra-reactionary goals of German fascism between the years 1933 and 1945. The aim, however, is not simply to fill a gap in historical accounts, which hitherto have always ignored this period. The subject is far from being merely of historical interest: it concerns the mechanisms whereby popular music can be socially and politically misused – mechanisms to which it can more easily fall victim, the more professionally it is produced. It is a fatal error to assume, for example, that popular music serving reactionary interests unmasks itself self-evidently as such. Rather, at no time has the lack of political responsibility on the part of performing musicians and composers been so clear, and had such disastrous eventual consequences, as was the case in Germany between 1933 and 1945. And this is what makes the subject as topical today, forty years after the ending of fascist tyranny in Germany, as it was then. ‘Continuity and change’ requires that the bitter experience of the past be combined with the urgent call to learn lessons from it now, after so long. The next time could be the last time!
