We present a brief outline of the development of research in visual perception with the advent of new technologies up to New Media and virtual environments. There is a mutual inspiration and benefiting between fundamental and applied research and technological progress which should be utilized by the disciplines involved. Next, an overview of a conference, held in Nara (Japan) September 2001, is given of which different selections of articles are presented in the current special issues of the Swiss Journal of Psychology and of Japanese Psychological Research.

The technological advances modify the educational process, the premeditation of the facts or actions of the teacher and the students are influenced by their environment, one of them is the technological progress. One of the options that the technology offers is to improve the educational process, they are the virtual environments of learning. This research project is based on the Moodle platform, this application is used as a complement to the traditional teaching to guide it to the education based on competences. VEL (Virtual Environments of Learning), based on the collaborative constructivism, implements new technologies as the virtual workshop, evidences portfolio, cyber-journals or virtual cases, which promote the development of the professional competences in designing software.

Ambulatory assessment of emotional states as well as psychophysiological, cognitive and behavioral reactions constitutes an approach, which is increasingly being used in psychological research. Due to new developments in the field of information and communication technologies and an improved application of mobile physiological sensors, various new systems have been introduced. Methods of experience sampling allow to assess dynamic changes of subjective evaluations in real time and new sensor technologies permit a measurement of physiological responses. In addition, new technologies facilitate the interactive assessment of subjective, physiological, and behavioral data in real-time. Here, we describe these recent developments from the perspective of engineering science and discuss potential applications in the field of neuropsychology.

Recent evolutions of social networks, virtual environments, Web technologies and 3D virtual worlds motivate the adoption of new technologies in education, opening successive innovative possibilities. These technologies (or tools) can be employed in distance education scenarios, or can also enhance traditional learning-teaching (blended or hybrid learning scenario). It is known and a wide advocated issue that laboratory practice is essential to technical education, foremost in engineering. In order to develop a feasible implementation to this research area, a prototype was developed, called 3DAutoSysLab, in which a metaverse is used as social collaborative interface, experiments (real or simulated) are linked to virtual objects, learning objects are displayed as interactive medias, and guiding/feedback are supported via an autonomous tutoring system based on user's interaction data mining. This prototype is under test, but preliminary applied results indicate great acceptance and increase of motivation of students.

Technological progress and competition between companies in the globalization era are increasing. New media plays an increasingly important role in advertising and marketing. In addition, companies’ survival depends on the presence of audiences/ consumers. Therefore, it is important and interesting to study how to utilize this new media/technology; how effective and efficient digital advertising and marketing strategies are in appealing to the audience; and how to ensure the products offered are acceptable to the target audience. This study carried out a literature review using a qualitative approach to obtain a framework of important concepts and strategies for effective marketing and advertising. It is important to pay attention to the objectives, audience and distribution / media of advertising and marketing. The use of various media such as social media, online advertising, digital signage and endorsers are also important factors in advertising and marketing success. Advertising and marketing strategies help to better understand consumers and how best to engage and empower them. Here technology has created a new environment, where power has shifted from advertisers to consumers. This research produced a variety of important strategies to attract audiences, obtain the AIDA (Attention Interest Desire Action) effect of the audience and finally reach the Top of Mind. Keywords: communication, advertising, marketing, endorser

This article is the result of noticing the need to transpose the gatekeeping theory. Technological progress has left its mark on the media ecosystem, generating and then strengthening the convergence processes, and has also changed the understanding of gatekeeping. The architecture of new media, especially social media, places gatekeeping in the context of the network. This allows one to look at the classically understood process from a new perspective, in which the key is to base the concept on network diffusion. Contemporary gatekeeping should be analyzed in the context of such mechanisms as: information bubble, echo chamber, filtering information by users and algorithms. Basic conceptual categories, the gate and the keeper, are also modified. There is a noticeable trend towards the transformation of gatekeeping towards gatewatching, in which social media users do not create their own gates, but observe and use already existing gates. Gatekeeping in the era of social media makes the audience an important element of it, moving towards secondary gatekeeping.

Public relations and social media are basically based on communication. Changing the order of communication along with the development of new technologies affected all fields of work as well as the field of public relations with the implementation of new practices and tools. Social media applications, which are included in public relations studies, have entered the research field of academic studies on this occasion. In this manner, the subject of this study has been carried out in Turkey and named "public relations" with the concept of "new media" or "social media" concept constitutes the graduate theses. The aim of this research in public relations axis graduate of surveys conducted in Turkey in social media and taking in conjunction with new media concepts to what extent to put forth that takes place in the general population and post is to establish a general map of this thesis. The bibliometric analysis method was used in this study. From this point of view, the year of the thesis, the title and thesis advisor, university and department, the research method, the data collection method of this research, the number of pages and keywords categories were created and the data of the theses were recorded. In the first stage of the analysis, 41 theses containing the words public relations and social media were reached, and 13 theses containing the words public relations and new media in the second stage. It was determined that 54 theses obtained as a result of these scans were carried out between the years 2006-2020. It has been determined that there are 11% of 577 graduate theses, which are in the general universe between these years and have the concept of public relations in their names. As a result of the analysis made, it was determined that the graduate theses with the words social media or new media in their names together with the words of public relations are highly postgraduate thesis. It has been revealed that these theses were published by 31% of Marmara University and 67% were studied in the Public Relations and Publicity Department. In addition, it was determined that the content analysis method was preferred as the data collection technique in these theses with a rate of 63%. In addition, 214 keywords were reached in theses, and it was recorded that ring relationships came in the top rank with 53 frequencies and 25% of these keywords.
