This research aimed to analyze the behavior in smallholder cocoa marketing agencies in Sempu Village Banyuwangi District. The choice of Jambewangi Village was intentional because there was lots of cocoa farming and known with good quality. Data were taken from 50 farmers of the group member who were chosen randomly. Data were analyzed using descriptive and analytic methods. The results showed that there were two marketing channels with a margin of USD 0.57 and USD 0.66. Channel I was more efficient because it had a small margin and more equal profit share and cost. The characteristic of each channel was different seen from the application of quality variance, pricing and payment system, marketing system.

<p>Since several years, the number of aerosol data coming from lidar has grown and improved in quality. These new datasets are providing a valuable information on the vertical distribution of aerosols which is missing in the AOD (Aerosol Optical Depth), which has been used so far in aerosols analysis. The launch of AEOLUS in 2018 has increased the interest in the assimilation of the aerosol lidar information. In parallel, the ground-based network EARLINET (European Aerosol Research LIdar NETwork) has grown to cover the Europe with good quality data. Assimilation of these data in the ECMWF/CAMS (European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts / Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) system is expected to provide improvements in the aerosol analyses and forecasts.<br><br>Three preliminary studies have been done in the past four years using AEOLUS data (A3S-ESA funded) and EARLINET data (ACTRIS-2 and EUNADIC-AV, EU-funded). These studies have allowed the full development of the tangent linear and adjoint code for lidar backscatter in the ECMWF's 4D-VAR system. These developments are now in the operational model version in research mode. The first results are promising and open the path to more intake of aerosol lidar data for assimilation purposes. The future launch of EARTHCARE (Earth-Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer) and later ACCP (Aerosol Cloud, Convention and Precipitation) might even upgrade the use of aerosol lidar data in COMPO-IFS (Composition-Integrated Forecast system).<br><br>The most recent results using AEOLUS data (for October 2019 and April 2020) and using EARLINET data (October 2020) will be shown in this presentation. The output will be compared to the CAMS operational aerosol forecast as well as to independent data from AERONET (AErosol Robotic NETwork).</p>

Global AgeWatch Index and Insights by HelpAge International aim to contribute to achievement of long-term transformative change in respect to ageing and the lives of older people by advocating for better production of timely and good quality data to inform policy and program response.The Global AgeWatch Index is a composite index that measures quality of life of older people, and ranks countries based on four domains – income security, health status, enabling environment and capability. The index was developed in partnership with Professor Asghar Zaidi. The index was published during 2013-2015.The Global AgeWatch Insights is a research-based advocacy tool that examines situation of older people in low- and middle-income countries, assesses availability of relevant data and evidence to support the analysis, and identification of policy actions. The Insights are produced in partnership with AARP. The reports were launched in 2018 are planned to be released every three years with a different thematic focus. The first report focuses on the inequities of the health systems in twelve low- and middle-income countries.

Competition between large jellyfish and forage fish for zooplankton prey is both a possible cause of jellyfish increases and a concern for the management of marine ecosystems and fisheries. Identifying principal factors affecting this competition is therefore important for marine management, but the lack of both good quality data and a robust theoretical framework have prevented general global analyses. Here, we present a general mechanistic food web model that considers fundamental differences in feeding modes and predation pressure between fish and jellyfish. The model predicts forage fish dominance at low primary production, and a shift towards jellyfish with increasing productivity, turbidity and fishing. We present an index of global ecosystem susceptibility to shifts in fish–jellyfish dominance that compares well with data on jellyfish distributions and trends. The results are a step towards better understanding the processes that govern jellyfish occurrences globally and highlight the advantage of considering feeding traits in ecosystem models.

The field of safety and incident prevention is becoming more and more data based. Data can help support decision making for a more productive and safer work environment, but only if the data can be, is and should be trusted. Especially with the advance of more data collection of varying quality, checking and judging the data is an increasingly complex task. Within such tasks, cognitive biases are likely to occur, causing analysists to overestimate the quality of the data and safety experts to base their decisions on data of insufficient quality. Cognitive biases describe generic error tendencies of persons, that arise because people tend to automatically rely on their fast information processing and decision making, rather than their slow, more effortful system. This article describes five biases that were identified in the verification of a safety indicator related to train driving. Suggestions are also given on how to formalize the verification process. If decision makers want correct conclusions, safety experts need good quality data. To make sure insufficient quality data is not used for decision making, a solid verification process needs to be put in place that matches the strengths and limits of human cognition.

The study attempts to identify the rice marketing channels, market actors and their marketing functions in Bogura and Gaibandha districts in Bangladesh. The paper also examines the rice marketing cost and margin and highlight major obstacles of market actors. Primary data were collected from 25 middlemen by using pretested semi-structured interview schedule in 2017. Rice millers, wholesalers and retailers were the major market’s actors in the study areas. Most of the rice millers buy paddy directly from the farmers by using their agent. After processing rice, rice millers sell rice to the wholesalers, and retailers. Rice millers marketing costs were higher in the Bogura district (Tk.569.8/40kg) than Gaibandha district (Tk.526.0/40kg). However, retailers’ marketing costs were higher in Gaibandha district (Tk.43.0/40kg) than Bogura district (Tk.39.1/40kg). Among all intermediaries, marketing margins was highest for rice millers which were Tk. 227.5/40kg. Middlemen have no sufficient capital for investment. Therefore, Government, Non Government Organizations and other institutional credit should be available to them at the reasonable interest rate. J Bangladesh Agril Univ 17(4): 567–573, 2019

The STEPHI network (STEllar PHotometry International) is a multinational cooperation stablished in order to get as perfect data as possible on several δ Scuti stars, within a reasonable period of time. STEPHI is currently integrated by nearly 15 people, belonging to the first four institutions cited above. However, astronomers of other institutions have eventually contributed to the network. The idea was born in 1986 and the network has been working to full operation since August 1989. A campaign, observing one or two δ Scuties is normally undertaken every 15 months. They are usually order of three weeks long, avoiding full-moon periods. Up to now, four campaigns have been performed, the last ending February 1992.Very good outcomes on five δScuties [63 Herculis in June 1987 (Belmonte et al, 1991), GX Pegasi in September 1989 (Michel et al, 1992a), v650 Tauri in November 1990 (Belmonte and Michel, 1991; Michel et al, 1992b) and, finally, BN Cancri and BU Cancri in February 1992] have been obtained. Indeed, some very useful aditional information on comparison stars (see e.g. Belmonte et al, 1990) and sky conditions (transparency, brightness, scintillation, etc..) has been obtained as well. Aditionally, some key information about mostly all multiperiodic (four or more periods) δ Scuti stars studied up to March 1992, with good quality data, is presented in this report.

This paper describes the use of Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors to investigate the thermomechanical properties of saline ice. FBG sensors allowed laboratory measurements of thermal expansion of ice samples with a range of different sizes and geometries. The high sampling frequency, accuracy, and resolution of the FBG sensors provide good quality data across a temperature range from 0°C to −20°C. Negative values of the effective coefficient of thermal expansion were observed in ice samples with salinities 6 ppt, 8 ppt, and 9.4 ppt. A model is formulated under which structural transformations in the ice, caused by temperature changes, can lead to brine transfer from closed pockets to permeable channels, and vice versa. This model is compared to experimental data. Further, in experiments with confined floating ice, heating as well as thermal expansion due to vertical migration of liquid brine, caused by under-ice water pressure, was observed.

This article presents the protocol of online multi-image elicitation (OMIE) in an effort to evaluate its methodological contributions – using an example – and analyse its effectiveness as a marketing research technique. We will outline the theoretical and epistemological foundations of this mixed method approach, as well as the principles underpinning its development and the analytical possibilities available. We will show how this hybrid mechanism combines the appeal of an interpretive protocol using both images and text, while at the same time generating – on a large scale – rich- and good-quality data that can be used for statistical purposes. We will see that OMIE is suitable for analysing the experiential and emotional components of consumption.
