Due to the requirements for matching the needs of employers with the job applicants’ skills, companies increasingly tend to use a key competency-based approach to select new marketers. The aim of this paper is to determine if the project-based learning method has helped developing economic university students’ key competencies that are essential in the marketing related jobs. For testing and developing such key competencies, the method of project-based learning have been implemented into the Marketing communication course at the Faculty of Economics, University of South Bohemia in Czech Republic. Results show that innovated course had a positive effect especially on the development of abilities to work effectively in team, assessing and analysing information or work independently.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development reflects the urgency to embed the principles of education for sustainable development (ESD) into all levels of education. ESD, understood as an integral part of quality education and where all educational institutions, from preschool to higher education and in non-formal and informal education, can and should foster the development of sustainability competencies. This Special Issue entitled “Competencies in Education for Sustainable Development II” responds to this urgency and the papers presented deliver recent developments in the field of sustainability and ESD competencies. They focus on various perspectives: systematic literature reviews and conceptual contributions; curriculum developments and pedagogical approaches to explore competencies’ development, such as action research, serious games, augmented reality, multi-course project-based learning and group model building processes; testing and validation of assessment tools and processes for linking sustainability competencies to employability and quality assurance processes. The contributions show how the field of sustainability and ESD competencies has become a major focus in recent years and present emerging research developments. Further research efforts need to be put into operationalizing sustainability competencies and developing tools that help measure and assess students’ and educators’ competencies development.

The development of experiential learning methodologies is gaining attention, due to its contributions to enhancing education quality. It focuses on developing competencies, and build-up added values, such as creative and critical thinking skills, with the aim of improving the quality of learning. The interdisciplinary mechatronics field accommodates a coherent interactive concurrent design process that facilitates innovation and develops the desired skills by adopting experiential learning approaches. This educational learning process is motivated by implementation, assessment, and reflections. This requires synergizing cognition, perception, and behavior with experience sharing and evaluation. Furthermore, it is supported by knowledge accumulation. The learning process with active student’s engagement (participation and investigation) is integrated with experimental systems that are developed to facilitate experiential learning supported by properly designed lectures, laboratory experiments, and integrated with course projects. This paper aims to enhance education, learning quality, and contribute to the learning process, while stimulating creative and critical thinking skills. The paper has adopted a student-centered learning approach and focuses on developing training tools to improve the hands-on experience and integrate it with project-based learning. The developed experimental systems have their learning indicators where students acquire knowledge and learn the target skills through involvement in the process. This is inspired by collaborative knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and interactive discussions. The learning outcomes from lectures and laboratory experiments are synergized with the project-based learning approach to yield the desired promising results and exhibit the value of learning. The effectiveness of the developed experimental systems along with the adopted project-based learning approach is demonstrated and evaluated during laboratory sessions supporting different courses at Sanyo-Onoda City University, Yamaguchi, Japan, and at the American University in Cairo.

The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the effect of Marketing Communications on Customer Value. To know and analyze the influence of product quality on Customer Value. To know and analyze the influence of Distribution Channels for Customer Value. To know and analyze the effect of Marketing Communications, Product Quality and Distribution Channels together on Customer Value. To know and analyze the impact of the Consumer LoyaltyMarketing Communications. To know and analyze the influence of product quality on Consumer Loyalty. To know and analyze the influence of Distribution Channels for Consumer Loyalty. To know and analyze the effect on the Customer Value Customer Loyalty. To know and analyze the effect of Marketing Communications, Product Quality, Distribution Channels andCustomer Value jointly against Consumer Loyalty. The method used is survey method descriptive and explanatory survey with asample size of 435 respondents, as well as data analysis method used is SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) with LISREL 8.80. Based on the results of the study, then obtained the following findings: Marketing Communications positive and significant impact on Customer Value. Product quality and significant positive effect on Customer Value. Distribution Channels positive and significant impact on Customer Value. Marketing Communication, Product Quality and Distribution Channels simultaneously positive and significant impact on Customer Value. Partially Marketing Communications dominant contribution in influencing the Customer Value. Marketing Communications positive and significant impact on consumer loyalty. Product quality and significant positive effect on consumer loyalty. Distribution Channels positive and significant impact on consumer loyalty. Customer Value positive and significant impact on consumer loyalty. Marketing Communication, Product Quality, Distribution Channels and Customer Value simultaneously positive and significant impact on consumer loyalty. Partially Marketing Communications dominant contribution in influencing consumer loyalty.
