Abstract R is a programming language that has a huge range of inbuilt statistical and graphical functions. Firstly, this chapter shows how R works by talking you through a number of exercises, often producing graphical output, so you will get to know how to write simple code and become familiar with some of the most commonly used R functions for manipulating data and doing simple calculations. For ease, the chapter will firstly use a non-biological type of example. Thereafter, it will enter, display and analyse a number of real biological or medical datasets as might be obtained in student class experiments or fieldwork projects. Further on, it will present an outline of statistical tests appropriate to various types of data that you will come across.

Abstract R is an open-source statistical environment modelled after the previously widely used commercial programs S and S-Plus, but in addition to powerful statistical analysis tools, it also provides powerful graphics outputs. In addition to its statistical and graphical capabilities, R is a programming language suitable for medium-sized projects. This book presents a set of studies that collectively represent almost all the R operations that beginners, analysing their own data up to perhaps the early years of doing a PhD, need. Although the chapters are organized around topics such as graphing, classical statistical tests, statistical modelling, mapping and text parsing, examples have been chosen based largely on real scientific studies at the appropriate level and within each the use of more R functions is nearly always covered than are simply necessary just to get a p-value or a graph. R comes with around a thousand base functions which are automatically installed when R is downloaded. This book covers the use of those of most relevance to biological data analysis, modelling and graphics. Throughout each chapter, the functions introduced and used in that chapter are summarized in Tool Boxes. The book also shows the user how to adapt and write their own code and functions. A selection of base functions relevant to graphics that are not necessarily covered in the main text are described in Appendix 1, and additional housekeeping functions in Appendix 2.

It is very important to learn from surgical complications. For this reason, research is vital in surgical practice. Clinical epidemiology and statistics provide the methodology for analyzing data and drawing conclusions. Thus, every surgeon should understand the basics of clinical epidemiology in order to know how to improve his or her practice. This chapter provides a background in epidemiology and the basic statistical methods that are commonly use in bariatric surgical research. A thorough knowledge of the different types of clinical studies and commonly used statistical tests is imperative for the clinician to have in order to interpret data accurately. If necessary the help of a biostatistician will ensure appropriate statistical tests are applied and results and conclusions of studies are credible.

Kata kunci: SMS Gateway, SAMSAT, Extreme Programming   Abstract The purpose of this research is to improve public services and effectiveness of performance at the SAMSAT office in the city of Padang by providing information on BBNKB costs to people who will conduct transactions behind the name. The cost of transferring motor vehicle names (BBNKB) is one of the most widely carried out transactions at the SAMSAT Padang office. At present there are no supporting media for the return of vehicle names, so that taxpayers do not know how much they must pay. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop an Motorbike Name Return Fee Information System (BBNKB) based on SMS Gateway. SDLC based software development with XP (Extreme Programming) method. This system was developed with the VB.Net programming language, and the MySQL database as a data store and Gammu as an SMS Gateway configuration. The results of this study are an application that can be used for taxpayers to find out the amount of return costs for motorized vehicles, which can improve work efficiency at the SAMSAT office in the city of Padang.   Keywords: SMS Gateway, SAMSAT, Extreme Programming

Adolescents nutritional status is one of the major challenges for health workers and society, which is caused by their excessive intake of food, but lack of fiber intake and lack of physical activity. This research is to know how relationship between vegetables and fruit habits, nutrition and family support with adolescent nutritional status. This research design used was cross sectional, where research is conducted one-time to find relationships between the independent variable and the dependent variable. Its samples consisted of 340 adolescents in Pangkalpinang city. Subjects were screened by using google form first, data collection is done directly with the help of enumerators. The results of statistical tests showed that the habit of consuming vegetables (p = 0.005) and physical activity (p = 0.016) were the variables that had the most influence on adolescent nutritional status. Adolescents who often consume vegetables and have a minimum physical activity of 600METs / day have the opportunity to have a good nutritional status.

Nowadays, nutritionists should count manually to know how much nutrition that patients get as the development of technology,  human work easier likewise in counting the patient's food waste so it will be more efficient and not waste a lot of time. This research aims to build an application that can facilitate nutritionists in the calculating amount of food waste by using the Comstock method. The system is designed to use Unified Modeling Language (UML) and     programming language Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) and Hyper Markup Language (HTML). The result of this research is in the form of application which could be used by nutritionists at hospital calculate the amount of food waste of patients using the android-based Comstock method at the hospital using the Comstock method.

The advent of the environmental SEM (ESEM) has made possible the examination of uncoated and untreated specimen surfaces in the presence of a gaseous or liquid environment. However, the question arises as to what degree the examined surface remains unaffected by the action of the electron beam. It is reasonable to assume that the beam invariably affects all specimens but the type and degree of effect may be totally unimportant for one class of applications and totally unacceptable for another; yet, for a third class, it is imperative to know how our observations are modified by the presence of the beam. The aim of this report is to create an awareness of the need to initiate research work in various fields in order to determine the guiding rules of the limitations (or even advantages) due to irradiation.

For the calculation of X-ray intensities emitted by elements present in multi-layer systems it is vital to have an accurate knowledge of the x-ray ionization vs. mass-depth (ϕ(ρz)) curves as a function of accelerating voltage and atomic number of films and substrate. Once this knowledge is available the way is open to the analysis of thin films in which both the thicknesses as well as the compositions can usually be determined simultaneously. Our bulk matrix correction “PROZA” with its proven excellent performance for a wide variety of applications (e.g., ultra-light element analysis, extremes in accelerating voltage) has been used as the basis for the development of the software package discussed here. The PROZA program is based on our own modifications of the surface-centred Gaussian ϕ(ρz) model, originally introduced by Packwood and Brown. For its extension towards thin film applications it is required to know how the 4 Gaussian parameters α, β, γ and ϕ(o) for each element in each of the films are affected by the film thickness and the presence of other layers and the substrate.
